About J. Wong's Thai & Chinese Bistro

Located at 163 W 200 S suite 101 in Salt Lake City, Utah, J. Wong's Thai & Chinese Bistro is a restaurant categorized as Chinese that offers meal delivery, featuring a menu that blends both Thai and Chinese culinary traditions. While one customer had not visited in 20 years, they found the food to be consistently good, particularly highlighting the candied walnut shrimp.

The restaurant offers a variety of appetizers and entrees suitable for groups. A visit on a Saturday afternoon at 4 pm revealed a relatively low crowd level, which might be appealing to some but could also suggest a decrease in popularity over time. A unique feature of J. Wong's is the presence of robot dumb waiters alongside attentive and helpful human staff.

While the food, both in presentation and taste, is described as fresh and delicious, some aspects of the interior appear worn. Specifically mentioned are old and worn carpets and cracked bench seats. However, the quality of the food remains a significant draw, with recommendations for dishes like sweet and sour, Mongolian beef, sticky mango rice, and sesame chicken.

Another reviewer noted a mix of "fresh stir fries" and "delicious greasy spoon fried dishes." They also pointed out a "vivacious hostess/waitress with an edge" who was quite attentive and hardworking. There might be two portion sizes available, requiring specification when ordering. This customer received medium-sized portions but was charged the lunch price instead of the higher dinner price, leading to satisfaction.

For local users in Salt Lake City seeking a meal delivery option that combines Thai and Chinese cuisine, J. Wong's offers a range of well-regarded dishes and attentive service, potentially with the novelty of robot waiters. However, it's worth noting the reported condition of the interior, which might be a factor for those considering dine-in in the future. For meal delivery, the focus remains on the fresh and flavorful food. Contact them at (801) 350-0888 or +1 801-350-0888 to place your order.

I hadn't been in 20 years, but the food is still as good. I ordered candied walnut shrimp and it was so good! We also ordered several appetizers and entrees for our whole party. We went at 4 pm on a Saturday. There were very few people, which we liked, but was also indicative that it wasn't as popular as it use to be. There are robot dumb waiters and real waiters who are attentive and helpful. The interior is looking worn. The carpet is very old and worn and several of the bench seats are cracked. But the food, bith presentation and taste, were fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend if you like sweet and sour, Mongolian beef, sticky mango rice, and sesame chicken. So much good food.

Fresh stir fries mixed with delicious greasy spoon fried dishes. Vivacious hostess/waitress with an edge; quite attentive and working hard. I think there are two portion sizes, which may have to be specified. My portions were on the medium size, but the entree prices ended up being the lunch price rather than the higher dinner price that the menu said. I was satisfied.

We went with a large group before a Jazz game. The service was spectacular and friendly. I felt like royalty. And the food was by far, some of the best I have ever had. They have cool little robot servers to help carry plates and things, and a full service bar. One of the best dining experiences of my life, hands down.

J Wong’s was pretty decent. The outside of the restaurant is under construction, so no other customers were there, the atmosphere of the place was okay, dimly lit, quiet classical music playing. As for the food, the cream cheese wontons were pretty solid. I’ve definitely had better cream cheese wontons, but I’ve also had worse. They are better than Panda Express’s if you know how those taste. The sesame chicken was SUPER sweet chicken, definitely a citrus sweet, maybe strawberry lowkey. Definitely not savory, the General Tao chicken was our favorite! It was so crispy in a good way, and the flavor was sweet but not too sweet, paired with rice or Lo mein noodles, it was great. Everything is super saucy. Since we were the only ones in there, the waiter was super attentive, great service.

I love this place. The Pad thai and yellow curry was awesome 100% my favorite dishes in this restaurant. My food was ready on less than 15 minutes, coming to the table with their robot cats, love it! 👌🏻 Try the Wonton soup, taste good.
