About J’S Chinese Cuisine

Welcome to J’S Chinese Cuisine, a noteworthy establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, located at 456 E Orange Grove Blvd #110, Pasadena, CA 91104, USA. If you're a local user in Pasadena or the surrounding areas looking for a welcoming Chinese dining experience with dishes perfect for sharing, J’S Chinese Cuisine might be a place to consider. For reservations or inquiries, you can reach them at (626) 395-9806 or +1 626-395-9806.

Based on recent customer feedback, J’S Chinese Cuisine offers a clean and comfortable dining environment, setting the stage for a pleasant meal. The service is consistently highlighted as outstanding, with staff described as friendly, quick, and attentive. This focus on hospitality seems to be a key feature that contributes positively to the overall dining experience.

The restaurant appears to specialize in dishes that are well-suited for sharing, with portion sizes described as great for family-style dining. This makes it an appealing option for groups looking to sample a variety of flavors. One dish that receives exceptional praise is the fried shrimp appetizer, which one reviewer rated as "5 stars plus" and highly recommended. However, it was noted that the appetizer was served with minimal sweet and sour sauce, and hot mustard was neither brought nor offered, which might be a consideration for those who prefer these condiments.

The hot and sour soup was another dish sampled, with mixed feedback. While it was noted to be loaded with ingredients, it was also described as a little bland and not particularly hot in flavor or temperature. This suggests a potential inconsistency in the preparation of this classic Chinese soup.

One of the entrees reviewed was the "prawns" and "mixed vegetables." The reviewer noted that the size and shape of the prawns resembled shrimp, which might be something to be aware of when ordering. The "mixed vegetables" were reported to consist primarily of broccoli and carrots, with these vegetables significantly outweighing the prawn/shrimp ratio. While the serving size of the entree was decent, the lack of variety in the vegetables was a point of critique. Additionally, the entree did not include rice, prompting the reviewer to question if this is becoming a new norm in restaurants. It's important to note that rice may need to be ordered separately.

Despite some of the mixed feedback on specific dishes, another reviewer enthusiastically recommended the sesame chicken, describing it as "so crunchy and delicious" that the plate was finished quickly. This suggests that the sesame chicken is a standout dish and a potential must-try item for visitors. The garlic cucumber also received high praise for its flavor and refreshing qualities, indicating another potentially excellent side or appetizer option.

The convenience of parking was also mentioned positively, with one reviewer noting they were lucky enough to find parking right in front of the restaurant. This can be a significant advantage, especially in a busy area like Pasadena.

Overall, J’S Chinese Cuisine seems to be a "little hidden gem" that is worth checking out, particularly for those dining in big parties who appreciate family-style portions. The friendly and attentive staff, along with specific highly-rated dishes like the fried shrimp, sesame chicken, and garlic cucumber, contribute to a positive dining experience. While some dishes like the hot and sour soup and the mixed vegetables with prawns received less enthusiastic reviews, the strong points of the restaurant, especially the service and the appeal for group dining, make it a noteworthy option in the Pasadena Chinese Restaurant scene. While one reviewer mentioned that the drive for a return visit might not be compelling enough for them personally (not due to a bad experience but rather a lack of being "over the top"), the positive aspects highlighted by other reviewers suggest that J’S Chinese Cuisine is a solid choice for local users seeking a satisfying Chinese meal with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere.

Review of my visit and first food experience. Restaurant is clean and comfortable. Fried shrimp appetizer was easily 5 stars plus and highly recommend. Minimal sweet and sour sauce no hot mustard brought or offered . Hot and sour soup soup loaded with ingredients but a little bland and not so hot in flavor or temperature. The entree was "prawns" and "mixed vegetables". From size and shape looked like shrimp. My opinion. Broccoli and carrots only veggies and far outweighed the shrimp ratio. Serving size decent but heavy vegetables without a mixed variety. No rice included. That the new norm? Is- is not wherever you go it seems. Service was outstanding. Bit of a drive to return for another visit. Not because of a bad experience or food. Just not over the top to make the drive.

Found this little hidden gem in Pasadena. The girls and I were in the mood for some Chinese food and this was the perfect spot. The staff was very friendly, quick and attentive. The portions we great for sharing, it’s like family style which is nice. Since we all wanted to try a little of everything. I highly recommend the sesame chicken. It was so crunchy and delicious, that plate was done within a few minutes. Another of my favorite was the garlic cucumber. So much flavor and refreshing. We were lucky enough to find parking right in front. Worth checking them out and eating there, especially for big parties.

When I walk into J’s place it feels like home! Hands down the best Chinese food in town, you just don’t know it yet. I’ve ordered almost everything on the menu, tonight I went all veg and was satisfied as if they were mains. The layers of flavor and genuine recipes are so tasty- even my picky toddler ate a bunch! The prices are very reasonable, you gotta try it!

Delicious food and kind service! We’ve been looking for a solid Chinese spot near us for a while and this will definitely be our go-to. We’ve ordered delivery and dined in once and both times have been delicious. Everything we’ve tried was great but the braised tofu is incredible!

I was happy to find this new Chinese Restaurant near the Hotel where I was staying in Pasadena. We parked on the street, we chose the, 1-Shrimp Chow Mein prepared with least 8 Prawns and the right Chinese seasoning, 2-Salt and Pepper fish was a delightful treat, plated popping hot with Jalapeno and Onion Slices, 3-the Orange Chicken…small balls of Chicken not overly sweet with a light batter that complimented the dinner. 4- Hot and Sour soup, spicy and tangy with sliced bamboo shots, shitake mushrooms, diced pieces of tofu. The only thing that was under par was the Hot Tea, a half pot of water down tea. Definitely a good choice for Chinese Food next time I visit Pasadena.
