About Jūn

Jūn is a restaurant located at 420 E 20th St Suite A in Houston, Texas, offering a distinctive fusion of Salvadoran and East Asian cuisines. Situated in The Heights, it provides a unique dining experience for local users.

According to customer reviews, Jūn offers a variety of dishes, with some being particularly well-received. Cocktails, the shrimp appetizer, and the whole fish (branzino) have been mentioned as enjoyable. The restaurant encourages sharing dishes family style, which can enhance the dining experience.

One of the favored dishes appears to be the chicken, described as tender and crispy with a subtle shrimp paste flavor or aroma. The sweet small plates have also been noted as tasty.

However, some customers have felt that Jūn might be slightly overrated. One reviewer mentioned that the quality of dishes can be inconsistent and that the portion sizes tend to be on the smaller side. This customer also expressed that the service did not meet their expectations given the restaurant's reputation and suggested avoiding the chicken dish.

Another observation was regarding the decor, with one reviewer feeling that the bar area could use improvement and humorously noting that more attention seemed to be paid to the bathroom's aesthetics than to the restaurant's overall ambiance.

Despite some mixed feedback, Jūn presents an interesting culinary concept by blending Salvadoran and East Asian flavors. If you're looking for a unique dining experience in The Heights, you can contact Jūn at (832) 469-7664 or +1 832-469-7664. Their address is 420 E 20th St Suite A, Houston, TX 77008, USA.

I enjoyed my cocktails , appetizer and whole fish . However I felt this place was a tad over rated . Dishes can be a hit or miss , proportions are definitely on the small side . Service was not the best , I was definitely expecting better given the hype. Try the michelada and shrimp appetizer , branzino was good, stay away from the chicken dish . The decor needs improvement by the bar area . I feel like they spent more time decorating and seasoning the bathroom than the restaurant.

Fun Salvadoran and East Asian fusion restaurant in the Heights. We enjoyed sharing all of the dishes family style. One of the favorites, the chicken, was tender and crispy with a slight shrimp paste taste/aroma. All the sweet small plates were tasty too.

The food here was phenomenal! I wish I had time to do a full tasting. I ordered the cucumber salad as an appetizer and it was amazing. Bright with lovely acidity, it had fresh pops of herbs throughout. My entree was the brisket, which is worth the money. The server recommended I order the coconut rice with it and I was very happy I listened, as the rice complemented the brisket nicely. I’ve never had brisket with a peanut curry and it was an inspired choice. The flavor of the brisket develops with each bite, so you are tasting different notes as you eat the dish. The aftertaste that lingers is absolutely delicious as well. Though last minute reservations are hard to come by, there is open seating at the bar (though there are not many seats, so it would be worth calling ahead). If you are a solo diner, this is the way to go. I had an excellent experience and would love to come back for a tasting the next time I’m in town. Highly recommend!

Jun is pretty awesome. We sat at the bar but still experienced some of the best customer service we’ve ever had. Definitely a vibe with great drinks and a well balanced tasting menu. The aguachile alone is worth the visit. The fried chicken is lovely with a twist. The carrots were a pleasant surprise. I’m not a huge desert person but the in house vanilla bean ice cream is the cherry on top. Just visit. You won’t regret it.

Visited Jun for Valentines day dinner. It was a prix fixed dinner so not the regular menu. The food was not bad it just took forever to come out which is odd if you already know what you are cooking. The wines were good but service was slow. I would go back to try the regular menu though
