About J&K Gourmet
J&K Gourmet is a Chinese restaurant located at 2302 College Point Blvd in College Point, New York City. As a local establishment, it aims to serve the community with a variety of Chinese dishes. The restaurant can be contacted at the phone number (718) 353-4111 or the mobile number +1 718-353-4111. However, based on the available customer reviews, it is crucial for local users to be aware of some significant concerns raised by previous patrons regarding their experiences with J&K Gourmet.
When considering a Chinese restaurant for dining in or delivery, local users typically look for factors such as the quality and taste of the food, the accuracy of their orders, the efficiency and cost of delivery services, and the overall value for money. Unfortunately, the online reviews for J&K Gourmet highlight several areas where the restaurant appears to have fallen short for some customers.
One detailed review describes a negative experience with a delivery order totaling $40, which included pork with garlic sauce and shrimp with fried egg. Despite the restaurant's claim of free delivery over $30, the customer reported adding a $5 tip and seemed to imply an additional expectation of a $15 or $20 tip. This discrepancy regarding the delivery fee and tipping expectations is a point of concern for potential customers.
Furthermore, this reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with the food itself. They initially attempted to order a chicken dish but were informed that none were available, with fried chicken being the only alternative offered. The reviewer found it unbelievable that a Chinese restaurant would primarily offer fried chicken over traditional dishes. This limitation in menu availability could be a drawback for those seeking specific Chinese cuisine.
The most severe criticism in this review pertains to the lack of the main ingredients in the ordered dishes. The customer stated that there was "no meat or shrimp" in the pork with garlic sauce and shrimp with fried egg, respectively. For the shrimp dish, they reported an overwhelming amount of soggy egg with very few, possibly frozen, shrimp hidden within, along with about half a centimeter of water at the bottom of the container. The reviewer described the dish as tasteless and likened its quality to worse than school lunch, suggesting it was a "scam" and not worth the $20 price tag.
Based on this experience, the reviewer strongly advised others to either cook these dishes at home for better quality and cost savings or to find another Chinese restaurant in the College Point Stop & Shop area. This scathing review raises serious concerns about the quality of ingredients, the preparation of the food, and the value for money at J&K Gourmet.
Another customer review, equally negative, echoes the issue of missing main ingredients and order inaccuracies. This reviewer ordered beef with Chinese celery but reported receiving pork with preserved vegetables, an ingredient they do not eat, and noted the absence of any celery. This indicates a significant error in order fulfillment and a disregard for the customer's order.
Adding to the concern, this reviewer also recounted a previous negative experience where they ordered chicken with eggplant in garlic sauce but found no chicken in the dish. While they did not complain at the time, the repeated issue prompted them to call the restaurant regarding the beef and preserved vegetable mix-up. The owner's response, advising the customer to double-check their order before leaving next time, was perceived negatively by the reviewer, especially considering the order was for delivery, making it impossible to check before receiving it.
The extreme dissatisfaction expressed in both reviews, with one stating they wouldn't even give one star if possible, paints a concerning picture of the food quality, order accuracy, and potentially the customer service at J&K Gourmet. These reviews highlight issues such as missing main ingredients, incorrect orders, poor food quality (soggy, tasteless), and questionable delivery and tipping practices.
As a platform for Chinese Restaurants, it is our responsibility to present an objective overview based on the available information. In the case of J&K Gourmet, the online reviews are overwhelmingly negative and point to significant problems with the food and service. Local users in College Point seeking a reliable Chinese restaurant should carefully consider these experiences shared by other customers.
The features one might typically look for in a Chinese restaurant, such as fresh ingredients, flavorful and well-prepared dishes, accurate order fulfillment, and satisfactory delivery service, appear to be areas where J&K Gourmet has reportedly struggled according to these reviews. The limited availability of traditional chicken dishes and the substitution with fried chicken as a primary offering might also be a point of concern for those seeking authentic Chinese cuisine.
Given the strong negative feedback regarding the quality and accuracy of the food, as well as potential issues with delivery charges and tipping expectations, local users might want to exercise caution when considering J&K Gourmet. Exploring other Chinese dining options in the College Point area with more positive and consistent reviews could be a prudent alternative to ensure a satisfactory culinary experience.
It is important to acknowledge that these reviews represent individual experiences at the time they were written. However, the consistency and severity of the complaints regarding missing ingredients and incorrect orders are significant red flags for potential customers. While every restaurant can have an off day, repeated issues of this nature suggest a more systemic problem.
In conclusion, based on the available online reviews, J&K Gourmet in College Point, NY, has received significant negative feedback regarding the quality of its food (lack of main ingredients, poor preparation), accuracy of orders, and potentially misleading delivery charges and tipping expectations. Local users are strongly advised to consider these reviews carefully before deciding to order from or dine at this establishment and might want to explore alternative Chinese restaurants in the area with more positive and reliable customer feedback.

Ordered delivery for pork w. Garlic sauce and shrimp with fried egg for 40 bucks(15,20, and 5 dollar tip for delivery despite saying free delivery over 30 dollars). I was going to order chicken dish but they say they don’t have any dish available, and the only thing they can offer is fried chicken; a Chinese restaurant offering fried chicken instead of the other traditional dishes can you believe that. Now here’s the part that made me give this restaurant a one star: there is no meat or shrimp in the two dishes I ordered. They overwhelmed the shrimp with egg with eggs, and you don’t even see a dozen shrimps in there. The egg was soggy and there is about half a cm of water at the bottom. Additionally, the egg has no flavor and the shrimps taste like they came from a frozen packet. 20 bucks for a dish that taste worse than school lunch, I must say it has to be a scam. My advice to you guys, learn the recipe yourself, it literary takes 30 minutes to cook these two dishes and save 75% the cost even with more meat, and you’ll be surprised how much tastier your own cooking is compared to this restaurant. Or find another restaurant around the college point stop and shop area to order your favorite Chinese dish.
If I can, I won’t even give 1 star . Ordered beef with Chinese celery. I don’t even get the see the celery. It’s pork with preserved veggie which I don’t eat. Last week I ordered chicken with eggplant in garlic sauce. There’s no chicken in it. Didn’t complain last time , this time I called. Then the owner said, when order next time, double check before leaving……. And
The food is great, if you want to get a quick place to eat and not expensive. It's better to order it in person you could actually see the food and get what you like by either pointing at it. Since the people don't really speak English. The food is oily but that's what makes it good, I highly recommend getting thier protein choices and spicy tofu. It's actually super delightful
The seating area is good and there are many choices, but the food is a bit too salty and greasy. Also the staff doesn’t seems to be friendly. It’s typical Chinese restaurant.
Ordered chicken and broccoli. Generous portion for 8 dollars. Tastes good and comes with soup.
