Izumi Asian Bistro Cumming

It was my first time here and my overall experience was great. The restaurant is designed in two parts where one side is very bright with large windows and the other side more dim and casual. I ordered Shirmp Pad Thai and my wife had the Ahi Poke Tuna. Both tasted great but the Tuna was exceptional. The prices are reasonable and their menu has a large variety of choices. A mixture of Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese.

This is a great place to come with family. They have an excellent selection of sushi, and we have been here 3 times still exploring the sushi options. What we also loved is that they have a vegetarian menu. Their salt and ppepper tofu are absolutely delicious. The best part was that they had some unique vegetarian sushi that my vegetarian friend could enjoy.

Went here for lunch with my mother. We arrived when they were starting to open so there weren’t a lot of customers. Looking at the lunch menu, there is a wide variety of Asian food types to choose from including lo mein, hibachi meats, pho noodles and Thai curry. I ordered a teriyaki steak bowl with fried rice, steamed vegetables and also came with 4 California Sushi pieces. My mom got the hibachi lunch trio that included chicken, shrimp and steak. Our waitress was kind and courteous. The food was good with the steak coming out as we ordered medium well. The California rolls were quite delicious especially with wasabi and soy sauce. My mom also had good things to say about her trio. Overall a nice lunch out where we got a good bang for our buck.

Lunch portions are really small. I paid $18+ total for 3 pieces of steak, 3 shrimps, and soggy vegetables. Im a frequent customer for lunch but decided to order something else. Wow big mistake because I'm still hungry. Also, They now charge $1 extra for soup (before they didn’t with the lunch special) and $1 for fried rice instead of white rice. This use to be an option that you can choose between without any extra charges especially for Chinese lunch specials. I know times are tough but some things are ridiculous.

I was so hoping to like this place because I drive past it all the time. However, I can say with certainty we won’t be back. Service: I don’t want to entirely blame the lack of refills on the waitress because the cups are metal. The waiters cannot see through them to know when they are empty. Our waitress wasn’t very attentive. We didn’t see her for a good 15 minutes after our initial drink order. We asked for extra Yum Yum sauce and were told “I can only get that for you if you eat it all”. It never made it to the table. Food: We ordered the hibachi chicken. Food was just okay. Freezer rice with some veggies and chicken. Nothing outstanding here. Atmosphere: Place looked very nice! We had our hopes up very high because of the atmosphere. I will add that it was VERY cold our entire visit. TLDR: There are much better Asian restaurants in the area and I think our money would be better spent elsewhere.
