About Izumi
Nestled along the scenic route of NY-376 in Wappingers Falls, Izumi stands as a haven for those seeking a culinary journey through authentic Chinese flavors. Renowned for its vibrant ambiance and delectable menu, Izumi offers an inviting space where friends and family can gather to savor traditional dishes with a modern twist.
Izumi's offerings are a delightful blend of classic Chinese cuisine and contemporary dining experiences. Their menu features a wide array of dishes, from mouthwatering sushi rolls and entrees to savory steaks and shrimp, all prepared with precision and care. The restaurant is particularly praised for its noodle dishes, which add an extra layer of flavor to each meal. For those dining with children, Izumi also provides kid-friendly options, ensuring that the entire family can enjoy a satisfying dining experience.
One of the standout features of Izumi is its open hours, which cater to a variety of schedules. The restaurant is open from Monday through Sunday, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a convenient spot for both weekday meals and weekend gatherings. However, it's important to note that Izumi takes a break on Tuesdays, giving them time to prepare for the next week's busy schedule.
While dining at Izumi, guests are treated to a warm and welcoming environment. The staff is known for their friendliness and attentiveness, ensuring that each patron feels valued. However, there have been some customer feedback regarding areas where Izumi can improve. One common observation is the presentation of their menu, which has been described as cluttered and in need of a more polished appearance. Despite this, the food itself consistently receives high praise for its quality and taste.
Customer reviews highlight both the strengths and areas for improvement at Izumi. Many diners have praised the restaurant's ability to deliver meals that are not only visually appealing but also bursting with flavor. The sushi rolls and entrees, in particular, have been a favorite among patrons, though some have noted that ordering these dishes may require clear communication with the staff to ensure they arrive on separate plates rather than all together on one large plate.
Another aspect that has drawn attention is Izumi's billing process. While many customers appreciate the high quality of their meals, there have been instances where additional charges for noodles and a mandatory tip were applied without prior notification. This has led to some dissatisfaction, as it can catch diners off guard. Despite these issues, the majority of reviews emphasize that the food itself is top-notch, with steaks and shrimp being particularly well-received.
Overall, Izumi remains a popular choice for those looking to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine in a welcoming setting. While there are areas where the restaurant could improve, such as menu presentation and billing clarity, the culinary offerings and warm service make it a worthwhile destination. For anyone seeking a taste of China in Wappingers Falls, Izumi is definitely worth considering.

Customer Reviews
The staffs were nice and very friendly. However, the menus were a stacked of paper and so dirty, with food stains and leftover rice in it. I hope they have a better presentation of the menu soon. If you order sushi rolls or sushi entree and you want your personal plate with the sushi you ordered, you may need to tell the waiter or chef to place it separately per order. Because they put everything on a large plate. It is not convenient at all. It may not be a good idea to have a business dinner. We ended up just ask for an extra plate to separate by ourselves.
Let me just start this review by saying the 3 star review has nothing to do with the food. Had I ordered for take out, I probably would have given Izumi 5 stars. We ordered steak and shrimp, and kids steak meals, was asked if we wanted noodles with our order and we all said yes. The chef came and cooked our meal, the chef put on a good show and the food was great. Steaks and shrimps were soft and perfectly cooked, the rice was flavorful, the vegetables were good, as were the noodles. After the meal, we receive the bill and found out each of us who got noodles were charged 5 dollars per meal for noodles. Not a big deal, but wasn’t communicated to us at all. I then give; who I believe was the owner, my credit card to pay for the meal and she took it upon herself to add a $39.99 tip. The tip was a justifiable amount for the bill however, I did not appreciate them adding a tip to my bill without saying anything. If gratuity is included with the bill, that’s completely different, however, she just decided upon herself to tip this amount and add it to my card. I probably won’t be going back and that’s a real shame because the food as I said was great.
I was able to drop by Izumi on a Sunday afternoon after having a craving for sushi. I originally wanted some traditional pieces of nigiri but after looking at the menu, the sushi boat was the way to go. I swapped out two of the rolls for a small additional charge but couldn’t have been happier with the meal. We were greeted and sat at the sushi bar. Received some ice cold Sapporo beer almost immediately after placing an order and got to watch our boat be crafted in front of the bar which was done in minutes. We also got a soup and salad which was great on a cold day. The sushi itself was incredibly fresh and had great flavor. We even got a small portion of their seafood ceviche which was heavenly. After the meal, I felt satisfied and lucky to try this new sushi spot. Give Izumi a try if you can. They even had hibachi which had a few tables taken with a birthday party. Looking forward to my next visit!
The service was good and we enjoyed the food, but were turned off by how expensive it was for what you get. The sushi rolls are all very very small. Other sushi places in the area offer rolls thats literally twice the size and more pieces for the same price or less. We were also shocked when our bill came and the fountain soda wasn't free refills, so we were charged $2 for every refill we got. If we had known, we would've never got refills. We were also kinda disappointed that at the bottom of their menu, in small print, it says they add a 20% service charge to your bill. We probably would've tipped 20% anyway because the service was great...but the principle of that turned me off. I would be annoyed if I went, had bad service, and had that tacked onto my bill. Because of all that, we definitely wouldn't go back.
Was here yesterday with family and I gotta say, the hibachi was fantastic. It was my first time at a hibachi restaurant and the food was amazing. The Kirk’s rolls and Sakura rolls are phenomenal. I will definitely come again soon
