About Imperial Buffet

Imperial Buffet is located at 273 Berlin Tpke, Berlin, CT 06037, USA. Categorized under the Chinese Restaurant platform, Imperial Buffet offers a diverse all-you-can-eat selection that typically includes a variety of Chinese dishes, as well as some American and other cuisines, such as seafood and sushi.

They can be contacted at phone number (860) 828-6630 or mobile phone +1 860-828-6630.

Customer reviews for Imperial Buffet present strongly contrasting opinions. One reviewer had an extremely negative experience, describing the food as horrible and almost causing them to vomit. They also reported poor service and the presence of a dead fish in a pond feature. This reviewer specifically warned against the mac and cheese, mentioned someone vomiting in the bathroom with unsanitary conditions, and alleged moldy chicken and horrific sushi, strongly recommending against visiting and suggesting a food inspection. They felt the buffet was not worth the risk of foodborne illness.

Conversely, another reviewer who identifies as a "foody" was curious about the negative reviews, especially noting that many seemed to be from out of state. They visited for lunch and provided a more detailed account. They found a large selection of chicken dishes, with the Korean chicken being delicious and the Italian chicken slightly dry but edible. However, the pepper steak was cold, and the rice was dry, while the lo mein was deemed inedible due to a malfunctioning warmer, which the staff addressed. This reviewer saw no evidence of food being stored in plastic or visibly recooked. They noted ample parking in the strip mall location and a moderate crowd during their lunchtime visit. The lunch price was $13.99, with soda at $3.00 for a smaller cup with free refills, totaling around $21 after tip, which they considered normal for a buffet. They stated they would likely return if in the Berlin area again and gave an overall rating of 3.9 out of 5, noting attentive but not hovering service and no feeling of being rushed during their lunch visit.

In summary, Imperial Buffet in Berlin, CT, offers a wide variety of buffet-style food. However, customer experiences appear to be highly polarized. One review describes severe issues with food quality, hygiene, and the environment, while another provides a more balanced perspective, noting some enjoyable dishes but also some that were lacking, along with acceptable service and pricing for a lunch buffet. Potential customers should consider these differing opinions when deciding whether to visit Imperial Buffet.

Horrible food, almost threw up ngl. Also service was not good and there was a dead fish in thier little pond. Friend almost threw up as well. DO NOT GET THE MAC AND CHEESE. Someone threw up in the bathroom and the stalls were nasty. Food inspection needed. Please call food inspection moldy chicken and sushi is horrific. Buffet is not worth it if you want your food to come right back out. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

I don’t know what all the bad reviews are about..especially when looking at some of them when 3 of them are from way out of state and the only review for a CT place, is here…so being a foody, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, plus I had things to do in Berlin..so figured to go check this place out firsthand. Food…lots of chicken and then some other stuff. The Korean Chicken was delicious..the Italian chicken was a bit on the dry side..but it wasn’t so dry that it couldn’t be eaten. The pepper steak however…was cold. The rice was on the dry side..and the lo mein..that’s where the star disappeared..wasn’t edible. I mentioned it to the girl, she brought out the cook and manager and it was because the burner or warmer underneath wasn’t on. Simple mistake..it happens. There were no signs of food being in plastic as others have mentioned..there were no signs of food being recooked as you see in other restaurants. Parking…it’s in the corner of a strip mall, so there was plenty of parking. Busy? I went around 12:30 and there were prolly around 15-20 other people in the buffet; families, and casual diners. I don’t go out dinner…just because by that time, I’ve already ate at 4 places and generally stuffed. Price…this was the one that got me. People talking about how they charge and watch you eat. Lunch was 13.99 (as advertised on the door) and soda was 3.00 with free refills. They don’t give you the mug (think the size of a 28 oz soda)..instead it comes in a smaller cup (think the size of a 12 oz cup) so for lunch, after tip..it came to $21. For buffets, that’s about the normal. Would I go back again? IF I’m back out that way in Berlin again…sure, I’d make it a return visit. Overall on the 5* system, I’d give them a 3.9. They don’t hover around you as others have suggested, but they are attentive, meaning..if you need something, they’ll get it to you quick. They don’t rush you out as others have said..but again, I can’t speak on dinner service because I went for lunch.

This was, hands down, one of the worst buffet experiences I've ever had. The food was stale, cold, and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. The variety was shockingly limited for a buffet, and most of the dishes lacked any real flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was mushy, the sushi tasted off, and the egg rolls were soggy and greasy. The cleanliness of the buffet was another huge issue. There were food spills everywhere that hadn’t been cleaned up, and the serving utensils looked filthy. Some of the trays were completely empty, and they didn’t bother refilling them the entire time I was there. To make matters worse, the staff was rude and unhelpful. When I asked about a missing dish, I was met with a dismissive shrug. The whole place just felt chaotic and poorly managed. I regret spending my money here and would advise anyone looking for good Chinese food to avoid this place at all costs

Low keep wanted chinese but had a taste for so many things a buffet made more sense. I don't like buffets often because the concept is a lil scary, open food and spoons touched by so many people...alright enough of that lol. When I came in I noticed everyone busy with smiles on there faces. It was very clean and nice. The servers were pleasant which is always great. The food options were superb! I didn't take a pic of my plate but it was piled I promise. Everything I ate was delicious. The only I didn't enjoy was the wonton because it was a little too much ginger for my liking. As I got my food I noticed them quickly replenishing food that was low and cleaning the food stations. They did the same with our drink refills. The salad and dessert was good, matcha icecream was my favorite. The price was right, you hear me! I paid $20 something for 2 people. Highly recommend and will come again.

I enjoyed it, most buffet places I have been to have been really big and crowded, it was nice and cozy and I met the manager lady and she was very nice and cordial, waitresses were helpful, food was good and atmosphere was nice, I will return again in the future
