About Imperial 42

Welcome to Imperial 42, a Chinese restaurant located at 1727 S High St in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Serving the local community in the 22801 zip code, Imperial 42 aims to provide a range of Chinese culinary options. As a Chinese restaurant, it likely features a menu with popular dishes and perhaps some unique specialties, catering to those seeking familiar flavors and new tastes.

Based on customer reviews, Imperial 42 has garnered both positive and negative feedback regarding its food quality and consistency. One customer shared a highly positive experience, praising several dishes. They described the egg drop soup as "honestly the best" they had ever had, a sentiment echoed by their girlfriend. The General Tso Chicken with white rice and shrimp lo mein were also highlighted, with the lo mein being described as "top tier" due to its "comforting" flavor and a good balance of ingredients without excessive vegetables or sauce. Additionally, this reviewer found the pork fried rice to be the "best fried rice" in the area, emphasizing their pickiness about this particular dish and expressing gratitude for finding Imperial 42.

This initial review paints a picture of Imperial 42 as a Chinese restaurant capable of producing high-quality, flavorful dishes that resonate well with customers who have specific preferences for certain items like egg drop soup and fried rice. The positive comments on the General Tso Chicken and shrimp lo mein further suggest a mastery of popular Chinese-American dishes.

However, another customer who had been a patron of Imperial 42 for two years and consistently found the food "delicious" reported a significantly negative experience on Tuesday, September 13th. Their disappointment stemmed from an order of french fries, which they described as "the worst I have ever seen." The fries were characterized as looking like "floaters that had been in the fryer all day" and were even dripping with oil. This customer expressed disbelief at the poor quality, especially considering the $5 price tag for the fries and their consistent spending of $30 or more per order. This review raises concerns about the consistency of food quality, suggesting that while some dishes might be exceptional, others can fall significantly short of expectations.

The stark contrast between these two reviews highlights a potential variability in the food preparation or quality control at Imperial 42. While one customer raves about the egg drop soup, lo mein, and fried rice, another expresses extreme disappointment with a side order of french fries. This inconsistency is an important factor for local users to consider when deciding whether to patronize this establishment.

In terms of services, the reviews indicate that Imperial 42 offers takeout, as one customer specifically mentioned ordering and receiving french fries. While the reviews do not explicitly detail the dine-in experience or atmosphere, the positive review suggests a satisfying overall culinary experience, implying that dine-in is likely also an available service. To confirm the availability of dine-in, delivery options (if any), and the general ambiance of the restaurant, contacting Imperial 42 directly would be beneficial.

The features of Imperial 42, based on the customer feedback, include the potential for exceptional versions of classic Chinese-American dishes like egg drop soup, General Tso Chicken, shrimp lo mein, and pork fried rice. However, a lack of consistency in food quality, as evidenced by the extremely poor experience with the french fries, is also a notable feature. This suggests that while some menu items might be reliable and delicious, there could be variability in the preparation of others, including side dishes. The fact that a long-time customer was surprised and disappointed indicates that such a drop in quality might not be the norm but is still a possibility.

Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not include any details about current promotions, discounts, or special offers at Imperial 42. Chinese restaurants often have lunch specials, combination meals, or discounts for certain order amounts. Additionally, checking online platforms or social media pages associated with the restaurant might provide information on any advertised specials or new menu items.

In conclusion, Imperial 42 in Harrisonburg, VA, is a Chinese restaurant that has received both high praise for the quality of some of its main dishes and significant criticism for the poor quality of at least one side item. While some customers have found exceptional versions of classic dishes like egg drop soup, lo mein, and fried rice, there is evidence of inconsistency in food preparation. The restaurant offers takeout, and likely dine-in services. For local users in Harrisonburg, Imperial 42 presents a mixed picture, with the potential for a very satisfying Chinese meal but also a risk of encountering poorly prepared items. To get the most up-to-date information on their menu, services, and any promotions, and to potentially gauge the current consistency of their food quality, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

Honestly the best egg drop soup I have ever had. My girlfriend agrees. She got the General Tso Chicken w/white rice, and shrimp lo mein. The lo mein is top tier. The flavor is so comforting, and nothing is washed out with too many veggies or too much sauce. The pork fried rice was the best fried rice that I have had in the area. I’m super picky about my fried rice so I’m grateful to have found this place.

I have been eating from this restaurant for 2 years. My food has always been delicious. That's why I was surprised at the food I received on Tuesday, September 13th. The french fries were the worst I have ever seen. They looked like floaters that had been in the fryer all day. There was actually oil dripping from them. Unbelievable. If you pay $5 for an order of fries, plus we ALWAYS spend $30 or more when we order, then the fries should be edible. Very disappointed in this store.

We were seated immediately and the food was hot and out in little time. The portions were large and priced well. They use a delivery service or you can pick it up. I had the beef chow nei fun with thin rice noodles. Really good.

Got food poisoning twice, I thought I was allergic to something the first time but the same reaction happened with a different meal. I WILL NEVER GO BACK.
