Customer experiences at Ichiban Sushi & Hibachi appear to be varied. One reviewer reported a "really great experience" during a late Valentine's evening visit, noting prompt service, well-cooked and flavorful food, and a complimentary rose for women at the end of the night, which was considered a "very sweet" gesture. They did mention that the hibachi chef was "not as engaging" compared to other teppanyaki restaurants they had visited.

However, another reviewer reported several negative experiences, stating that the food quality was not commensurate with the price. Specific issues were mentioned with the sushi (poorly rolled and falling apart), hibachi chicken (overcooked and chewy), crab rangoons (lacking crab and with tasteless dough and overly sweet filling), side salad and soup (described as low quality), and sauces/dressings (watered down and lacking flavor).

This reviewer felt that they had experienced significantly better food at other hibachi restaurants and suggested that Ichiban Sushi & Steak House (as it appeared on their receipt) needs to make substantial improvements in both service and food quality.

In summary, Ichiban Sushi & Hibachi in Mt Vernon, OH, has received mixed reviews. While some customers have had positive experiences with the service and food quality on certain occasions, others have reported significant issues with the quality of various menu items. Potential customers may want to consider these differing opinions when deciding to dine here.

Really great experience late Valentines evening. We came in around 930 and were sat right away. Service was prompt throughout our time. Everything was well cooked and flavorful. Our only feedback was that the chef was not as engaging as we’ve had at other teppanyaki places. At the end of the night, they gave all the women a complimentary rose gift which was very sweet.

I've had a few negative experiences ordering here. The food is definitely overpriced for the quality. A few items in particular have been bad such as sushi, hibachi chicken, crab rangoons, side salad, side soup, and sauces/dressings. The sushi is poorly rolled and falls apart when you try to eat it despite being very small. The hibachi chicken dinner was okay. The proteins (meats) are always overcooked and chewy. The side salad/soup you get are a few pieces of old lettuce and some hot broth. The crab rangoons have no trace of crab or imitation crab in them. The dough is pale and tasteless, while the tiny amount of filling is basically just sweetened cream cheese. Usually at Hibachi restaurants they offer several sauces and dressings that can be very delicious. That is not the case at Ichiban. The salad dressing, yum-yum sauce and other side sauces tasted bad. They barely had any flavor and seemed very watered down. I've had significantly better food at several other hibachi restaurants. Ichiban Sushi & Steak House (as my receipt reads) needs to make some big changes regarding service and quality.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Michigan Sushi & Hibachi, and I wanted to share my experience! Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal. The Star of the Show: Steak & Shrimp Hibachi I opted for the steak and shrimp hibachi plate, and it was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly to my liking (be sure to mention your preference when ordering hibachi!), and the shrimp were plump and flavorful. The vegetables were fresh and perfectly seasoned, complementing the protein nicely.

Sadly, I imagine nursing home food tasting like the crap we received at this establishment. The "food" is watered down, yes watered down. It has zero spice and the chicken has the consistency of .... well never mind on that one. If you like bland food that can be eaten without teeth, this is the place for you.

Great lunch spot for Hibachi. I ordered the filet mignon Hibachi lunch special with fried rice and unsweetened iced tea. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was just enough food to fill me up for lunch. Great pricing too.
