“Excellent Sushi and Service!” Ichiban Japanese Cuisine never disappoints! Their sushi is always fresh and delicious, and the miso soup is warm and comforting. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit enjoyable. Highly recommend!

From the moment we stepped into Ichiban Japanese Cuisine & Catering, we were greeted with a warm ambiance and spotlessly clean surroundings. The sushi bar added an authentic touch to the atmosphere, and the staff were not only polite but genuinely lovely, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable. Our appetizers arrived promptly, setting the tone for a meal that exceeded our expectations. Each dish showcased the chef's expertise and dedication to quality ingredients. What's more, the pricing was incredibly reasonable for the outstanding quality of food we received. Ichiban has undoubtedly earned its place as a go-to spot for sushi lovers in Ledgewood, NJ. With such a delightful experience, it's no wonder we'll be returning soon to indulge in more of their delicious offerings.

So this will be a very interesting review... We visited after bowling at the lanes opposite this restaurant. I have been very fortunate having visited Japan many times, so I always have some hesitation with US sushi restaurants especially in strip malls. When we went in, my heart sank when I looked at the fish in the display counter - there was nothing that looked fresh. It was very tired and no way I would eat any of it. That's where the evening improved - I asked the chef if they had any fresh fish as I didn't want to eat anything on display. He pulled out a perfect looking salmon and also a fatty salmon - they were incredibly fresh and looked perfect. I had 5 of each - at $3 per nigiri it is amazing value. I asked the chef if there was anything else I should order - he declined even though there were 10+ other fish on the menu. So my feelings are very mixed. On balance I am going to give a high score - my only advice is buyer beware - if you do not understand or know how to identify fresh fish then be very, very careful. If you do know fish then go with confidence and just ask the chef what is fresh. He is incredibly open and honest and at $3 per portion it is great value.

Ordered through door dash delivery, everything was amazing and fresh!! Got the yummy yummy roll, house special roll, and miso soup. Best sushi I’ve had in a long time!

Professional sushi. Always fresh ingredients. Small place but food is always good. They have hibachi style dishes ( not prepared in front of you ) Katsu, teriyaki, udon noodles , and some bento style dishes, they also do sushi platters around the holidays which I’ve had a few times and they feed a lot of people and don’t disappoint. I order take out from here mostly but I’ve eaten in a few times. Service is always friendly and fast. Food is always presented very well and professionally.
