About Hy-Vee Chinese

Welcome to Hy-Vee Chinese, a Chinese food service counter located within the Hy-Vee grocery store at 9409 Zane Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55443, USA. As part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Hy-Vee Chinese offers a convenient option for those looking for Chinese takeout or a quick meal while shopping. It's important to note that Hy-Vee Chinese operates within a grocery store setting, which may influence the overall environment and service style compared to a traditional sit-down restaurant.

Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at Hy-Vee Chinese have been mixed, particularly concerning the quality and taste of the food. One customer expressed significant dissatisfaction, describing the food as "mushy and nasty." Specific dishes mentioned in this negative review include the General Taos chicken, which was likened in flavor to salsa, and the orange chicken, which was described as simply plain sugar on chicken. This reviewer concluded by stating it was the "worst Chinese food ever," even when considering budget-friendly options.

Another customer also shared a less than favorable experience, particularly with the fried rice, which they described as the "most bland" they had ever tasted. The egg roll was also criticized for being "mushy." While this reviewer noted that the orange chicken portion was large, the flavor was deemed unsatisfactory. Interestingly, this customer mentioned a specific Thursday special where the price of their meal was only $5, leading them to give a two-star rating instead of one, primarily due to the low cost. They also indicated that the regular price for the same meal was $10, suggesting that the perceived value might be tied to promotional pricing.

The feedback from these reviews does not provide information about the environment or specific services beyond the food preparation and sale. As a counter within a grocery store, the ambiance would likely be that of a food service area within a retail setting, rather than a dedicated restaurant with specific décor or seating arrangements. Customers likely order at the counter for immediate consumption or takeout.

Given the limited information and the negative feedback regarding food quality, it is challenging to highlight specific features or positive aspects of Hy-Vee Chinese based solely on these reviews. The mention of a Thursday special indicates that promotional offers may be available, potentially providing a more budget-friendly way to try their food. However, the reviews strongly suggest caution regarding the taste and texture of some of their popular dishes.

For local users considering Hy-Vee Chinese, it's important to weigh the convenience and potential affordability (especially with specials) against the reported issues with food quality and taste. The experience may vary, and individual preferences for budget-friendly Chinese food can differ. However, the available reviews provide a clear indication that some customers have found the food to be significantly below their expectations.

If you are looking for a very inexpensive Chinese food option in the Brooklyn Park area and happen to be shopping at Hy-Vee on a Thursday when a special is available, Hy-Vee Chinese might be worth considering for its price point. However, based on the current customer feedback, it would be prudent to manage expectations regarding the flavor and quality of the dishes. It might be advisable to inquire about daily specials or perhaps try a small order initially to assess whether the food meets your personal preferences.

In conclusion, Hy-Vee Chinese in Brooklyn Park offers a convenient option for Chinese food within a grocery store setting, and they may have budget-friendly specials like the mentioned Thursday deal. However, the limited customer reviews available express significant concerns about the taste and texture of their dishes, including the General Taos chicken, orange chicken, fried rice, and egg rolls. Potential customers should be aware of this feedback when considering Hy-Vee Chinese as their dining choice. For any inquiries about their menu or daily specials, you can contact them at (612) 760-1367 or +1 612-760-1367.

Mushy and nasty ! So bad. The general Taos tasted like salsa lol. The orange chicken tasted like just plain sugar on chicken. Worst Chinese food ever and I am not picky with cheap Chinese food

Most bland fried rice I've ever tasted. Egg roll was mushy. Orange Chicken was big, but the flavor wasn't good. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because it was only $5. But that was because of a special Thursday specific deal. It's normally $10.
