About Hy-Vee Chinese

Welcome to Hy-Vee Chinese, located at 3504 Clinton Parkway in Lawrence, KS 66047, USA. As a Chinese restaurant operating within a Hy-Vee supermarket, Hy-Vee Chinese offers a convenient option for those seeking Chinese cuisine in the Lawrence area. You can reach them at (785) 832-0044 or via their mobile number +1 785-832-0044 for inquiries.

Based on the limited recent customer feedback available, experiences at Hy-Vee Chinese appear to be varied. One reviewer described the food as "mid but better than others in town," suggesting a level of quality that is acceptable, if not exceptional, within the local context. A key aspect highlighted by this customer is the consistency of the food, noting that it is "the exact same every time." This predictability can be a positive for those who value knowing what to expect from their meal. The reviewer also mentioned that the food "just hits the spot somedays," indicating a degree of satisfaction depending on individual cravings.

However, another reviewer expressed a significantly negative experience specifically with the "indoor restaurant" service. This strongly suggests that Hy-Vee Chinese may operate with distinct service models, potentially including a counter for takeout within the grocery store and a separate area for sit-down dining. The reviewer used highly critical language, advising others "don't go to the indoor restaurant," and described the staff's behavior in a very unfavorable light, comparing it to "the Twilight Zone" and suggesting that the customer is made to feel like "the problem."

This negative review further elaborated on alleged issues with the service, stating an intention to contact upper management due to a "lack of it." The reviewer claimed that staff members preferentially assist customers who "look similar to them," and that those who do not fit this description are met with stares and a lack of assistance. They reported having to actively seek help, only to allegedly receive dishonest responses. Based on this experience, the reviewer stated they would "never go to high v ever again," indicating a complete dissatisfaction with the encountered service.

Given these contrasting reviews, it is difficult to provide a balanced overview of Hy-Vee Chinese. The first review suggests a level of satisfaction with the food's consistency, implying a reliable product for those seeking a familiar taste. However, the second review raises serious concerns about the in-restaurant service, alleging discriminatory behavior and a complete lack of customer care. It is important to note that this negative feedback pertains specifically to the "indoor restaurant," leaving open the possibility that the experience with takeout or other service models might differ.

Due to the limited and conflicting nature of the provided reviews, we cannot offer a detailed description of the environment of Hy-Vee Chinese. The first reviewer does not comment on the ambiance, while the second reviewer's negative experience is focused on the staff interactions rather than the physical setting itself. The mention of an "indoor restaurant" suggests the presence of a designated dining area, but its atmosphere and décor remain unknown based on this information.

Similarly, the information regarding services is limited. We can infer that takeout is likely available, given that Hy-Vee stores often have prepared food sections. The negative review focuses on the issues encountered within the "indoor restaurant" service, providing no insight into the efficiency or quality of takeout service. Whether Hy-Vee Chinese offers delivery or catering services cannot be determined from the provided text. To obtain accurate information about the full range of services, direct contact with the establishment is recommended.

Finally, there is no mention of any promotional offers, discounts, or special deals in the available reviews. As Hy-Vee is a larger grocery chain, it is possible that they may have ongoing promotions related to their various departments, including the prepared foods section that houses the Chinese restaurant. To learn about any potential current promotions at Hy-Vee Chinese, it would be best to inquire directly when contacting them.

In conclusion, Hy-Vee Chinese in Lawrence, KS, presents a mixed picture based on the limited recent feedback. While some customers may find the food consistent and satisfactory, there are serious allegations of poor and potentially discriminatory service within the "indoor restaurant" setting. Potential customers may want to consider these contrasting views and perhaps seek further information or clarification from the establishment regarding their service models and customer service practices before making a decision to dine in. The consistency of the food, as noted by one reviewer, might still make it a viable option for takeout for those who prioritize predictability in their meal.

Whatever you. Do don't go to the indoor restaurant. Those people are stupid and they make it like the Twilight Zone and you're the problem. I will be calling upper management about the service that I got or lack of it. The people in there will take care of someone that looks similar to them. But if you don't look like them, then they just stare at you. And don't. Help you, you have to ask and then they still lie. I will never go to high v ever again.

I’ve always loved Hyvee Chinese food until today. It was the worst I’ve ever had. Even the crab Rangoon was chewy and old. I would take it back but I live out of town. Horrible

Stir fry is great, large portions. Ate here with the kids haven't had a bad grab and go experience yet. Quick, cheap, and a lot for the money. Can't ask for much more.
