About Hutong New York

Hutong New York is a Chinese Restaurant situated inside Beacon Courtyard within Bloomberg Tower in New York City. As a part of the fine dining category of Chinese restaurants, Hutong New York aims to provide a sophisticated dining experience.

Customer reviews present a mixed view of Hutong New York. One group enjoyed a brunch experience with a free flow option, featuring an assortment of appetizers including dim sum, and found the Peking duck to be fantastic. They also noted the beautiful restaurant environment and appreciated the attentive service from the manager.

However, another customer who visited on Valentine’s Day for a special menu found the overall experience underwhelming for the high price. While they acknowledged the cleanliness and friendly service, several aspects did not meet expectations. The cocktail presentation was simple and disappointing. The dim sum, though visually appealing, was considered overpriced for the small portion and the amount of dough compared to filling.

The Peking duck experience was also criticized. A half duck order was served in two parts, with the latter portion being chopped and mixed in a spicy bean sauce that was not to the reviewer's liking. While the skin was crispy, the meat was cold and lacked flavor, which was disappointing for a signature dish.

Ultimately, this reviewer felt the meal was overpriced and did not meet the expectations set by the premium pricing, especially for a special occasion. Based on this experience, they indicated they would likely not return.

The environment is described as beautiful, suggesting an elegant setting for dining. Services include dine-in options, and based on the positive brunch review, they may offer special menus or brunch packages. For reservations or inquiries, Hutong New York can be contacted at (212) 758-4800 or +1 212-758-4800.

The restaurant is beautiful and our group had a great time dining here. We did the brunch free flow and enjoyed an assortment of appetizers including dim sum and added the pecking duck which was also fantastic. The manager was very nice and took great care of our group.

We visited Hutong New York on Valentine’s Day and opted for the special menu. Unfortunately, while the restaurant was clean and the service was friendly, the overall experience did not justify the high price tag. The cocktail we received was disappointing—served in a plain glass with no effort in presentation. The dim sums were visually appealing, but at $24 for just two pieces, they were mostly dough and hardly worth the cost. As for the Peking duck, we ordered the half duck, but what arrived was a quarter portion first, with the other quarter served separately, chopped into small pieces and mixed with beans in a sauce that was far too spicy for my taste. While the skin was crispy, the meat was cold and lacked flavor, which was quite underwhelming for such a renowned dish. In the end, the meal was overpriced and underwhelming. For the premium pricing, we expected a much higher level of execution, especially on a special occasion like Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, we left feeling that the experience did not live up to the expectations. Would we return? Unlikely.

This restaurant is an excellent representative of modern Chinese cuisine. Their dishes retain the essence of traditional Chinese food while being adjusted to modern dietary preferences, appealing to a broader audience. Many of their dishes not only taste great but also have an appealing presentation. The Peking duck, in particular, is one of the best I’ve had in New York, with the perfect balance of richness without being greasy, true to the authentic Beijing style. Additionally, their creative desserts are also impressive. Aside from the food, their service and ambiance are commendable, with an elegant setting and well-spaced seating, making it ideal for conversations. The only downside is that the restroom is a bit far from the dining area, with dim lighting, making it hard to find. Overall, it's a great Chinese restaurant worth recommending.

Modern art deco decor greets you upon entering Hutong, a lovely restaurant with a hall of wine bottles displayed behind lit glass to the right and a sexy dining room with comfortable seating to the left. The menu options were unique, making it difficult to decide. We ordered several items (the lobster dish was a favorite), all of which were Michelin 🌟 quality. The drinks were beautifully made as well. Perfect place for a dinner date or respective business lunch.

Here on a Monday. Made a reservation for 12:30pm and the restaurant was quite empty. Even though there was hardly a wait to get seated, it took over an hour to get my food. The food was good, but didn't quite meet my expectations for the high price point. Just some notes: -the dim sum was delightful. Prawn rolls were cripsy and the crispy baos had a nice soft texture -roast duck had crispy skins but came out rather cooled -the kai-lan wasn't very flavorful, but had a nice texture -yunnan tea was nice; it gets bitter if you let the tea steep for too long.
