When choosing a Chinese restaurant, potential customers often look for information regarding the quality of food, the cleanliness of the establishment, the variety of the menu, and the overall dining experience. Online reviews can offer valuable insights into these aspects, reflecting the experiences of previous patrons. In the case of Hungry Panda Chinese Restaurant, the available feedback presents a somewhat mixed but informative picture.
One reviewer highlighted several positive aspects of their experience. They noted that Hungry Panda is one of the few Chinese food options in the Outer Banks (OBX) area and considered it the best in terms of quality. A significant point of praise was the restaurant's cleanliness, with the reviewer mentioning an impressive health inspection rating of 99 by the County Health Department. They also commented on the plentiful and flavorful portions of the food. This customer enjoyed the complimentary fortune cookies and purchased almond cookies, indicating a positive end to their meal. Overall, they recommended Hungry Panda as a "great place to come for a local Asian cuisine."
Conversely, another customer who visited Hungry Panda based on reviews had a more critical experience. They also acknowledged the cleanliness of the interior, specifically mentioning dust-free walls, ceilings, and lights, despite being the only customer inside at the time of their visit. This reviewer noted the availability of shirts for purchase within the restaurant, which is an unusual feature for a dining establishment. A significant concern raised was the extensive menu, which they found overwhelming and repetitive. More importantly, for this particular customer, was the absence of tofu, an item they specifically desired and were surprised not to find at a Chinese restaurant. Regarding the food itself, they found it to be lacking in flavor. They also pointed out an imbalance in the serving, with an excess of rice compared to other components of their meal. Furthermore, they reported a missing item from their takeout order, specifically soy sauce, despite having requested it. They were told it would be in the bag with other sauces but found only napkins and egg roll sweet sauce. While they acknowledged trying the restaurant, they concluded that they would not become a repeat customer.
These two reviews offer contrasting views on Hungry Panda Chinese Restaurant. The first review emphasizes the cleanliness, generous portions, good flavor, and overall positive experience, suggesting it is a worthwhile option for Chinese cuisine in the area. The second review, while acknowledging the cleanliness, raises concerns about the menu's organization, the lack of specific dietary options (tofu), the flavor of the dishes, the balance of ingredients in the meals, and the accuracy of takeout orders.
For local users in Camden and the surrounding areas considering Hungry Panda Chinese Restaurant, these reviews provide important points to consider. The high health inspection score suggests a commitment to cleanliness, which is a significant factor for many diners. The positive feedback on portion sizes and flavor may appeal to those looking for a satisfying meal. On the other hand, the comments about the extensive yet repetitive menu and the absence of certain items like tofu might be relevant for those with specific dietary preferences or expectations. The issue with the missing soy sauce in the takeout order also highlights a potential area for improvement in order accuracy.
As a Chinese restaurant, Hungry Panda likely offers a range of popular dishes such as fried rice, noodles, various meat and vegetable stir-fries, and appetizers like egg rolls. The mention of "fried rice" by the first reviewer, even though not detailed, indicates its presence on the menu. The second reviewer's disappointment at the lack of tofu suggests that the menu might not cater to all dietary needs or preferences typically found in some Chinese restaurants.
The availability of both a standard and a mobile phone number provides convenient ways for potential customers to place orders for takeout or inquire about the menu and services. The address, 100 Plank Bridge Rd Suite E, Camden, NC 27921, clearly indicates the restaurant's location for those wishing to dine in or pick up their orders. The first review mentions a dine-in experience, noting the cleanliness of the interior, while the second review describes a takeout order.
The fact that the first reviewer mentioned Hungry Panda being "the best in the OBX area" suggests that it serves not only the local Camden community but also potentially draws customers from nearby Outer Banks locations where Chinese food options might be limited. This could indicate a broader reach and reputation within the region.
The availability of shirts for purchase, as mentioned by the second reviewer, is an unusual feature that might suggest a unique aspect of the restaurant's branding or local engagement. However, this is a minor point compared to the core aspects of food and service.
For local users, deciding whether to try Hungry Panda Chinese Restaurant may involve weighing the positive comments about cleanliness and food quality against the negative feedback regarding menu limitations, flavor, and order accuracy. It might be beneficial to consider what aspects of a Chinese dining experience are most important to them.
In conclusion, Hungry Panda Chinese Restaurant in Camden, NC, presents itself as a local option for Asian cuisine, particularly Chinese food. Reviews indicate a very clean environment and potentially flavorful, plentiful portions. However, one reviewer noted a lack of menu variety (specifically the absence of tofu), bland food, and issues with a takeout order. Local users are encouraged to consider these points when deciding whether to patronize Hungry Panda.

Customer Reviews
Not many places in this area that offer Chinese food. Hungry Panda is the best in the OBX area and the cleanest with a 99 rating by the County Health Department. Portions are plentiful and flavorful. We enjoyed the complementary Fortune Cookies and purchased Almond Cookies for our late night snack attack. Great place to come for a local Asian cuisine.
I was in the mood for Chinese food. So we gave them a try based on reviews. Inside is very clean. Walls, ceilings, lights, and all were dust free. All though there was nobody else inside but me. They have plenty of shirts for purchase. There are way too many items on the menu. Can be overwhelming because it feels repetitive. But no tofu, and that's what I wanted. First Chinese restaurant that didn't have any. There wasn't much flavor on any of our dishes. We were given more rice than anything. No soy sauce in the bag & I asked for it. Was told it was in the bag with other sauce. Wrong, just napkins & egg roll sweet sauce. Well, we tried it, but we won't be a repeat customer.
The absolute worst Chinese food I have ever eaten in my entire existence. I don’t understand how a Chinese restaurant can be soooo bland. Even when the food is supposed to be spicy. There is no kick. I have tried multiple items on the menu thinking it was just me ordering the wrong thing. Nope I never like anything, from their wontons, dumplings, garlic broccoli to their kung pao.
About every time I go to Hungry Panda it’s just always a great meal and a pleasant experience. Tonight my family and I had Hungry Panda and we all agree it was excellent! Keep up the good work!
I have tried other Chinese food in the area with such disappointment that I wasn’t expecting much. I was very surprised and impressed with this restaurant. Delicious comfort food. Will be ordering from here again in the future.
