About Hung To Seafood Restaurant

Hung To Seafood Restaurant, situated at 221 S Spruce Ave in South San Francisco, caters to those seeking a diverse and interesting dim sum experience within the Chinese Restaurant category. This establishment appears to offer a broad spectrum of dim sum options, ranging from familiar classics to more adventurous and less frequently seen dishes, potentially appealing to both seasoned dim sum enthusiasts and those looking to explore new tastes.

According to one enthusiastic reviewer who identifies as a "dim sum fan," Hung To Seafood Restaurant stands out for its variety. This patron expressed delight in finding dishes not commonly offered at other dim sum establishments, specifically mentioning intriguing options such as pig knuckles with black vinegar, congee with pork blood jelly, and fried dumplings with chives. For those with a penchant for the exotic and a desire to venture beyond the usual dim sum fare, Hung To Seafood Restaurant seemingly provides an opportunity for culinary exploration.

However, the same reviewer also notes that Hung To Seafood Restaurant caters to those who prefer traditional dim sum. This suggests that the restaurant aims to strike a balance, offering a comprehensive menu that includes both well-loved standards and more unique specialties. This dual approach could make Hung To Seafood Restaurant a suitable choice for groups with varying preferences, ensuring that everyone can find something to enjoy.

The ambiance of Hung To Seafood Restaurant is described as "cozy and unassuming." This suggests a comfortable and relaxed dining environment where the focus is primarily on the food and the company. The lack of pretension can be a significant draw for those who prefer a casual and welcoming setting for their meal.

In terms of service, the feedback indicates that the waiters and waitresses at Hung To Seafood Restaurant are "attentive and hard working but not intrusive." This balance is often appreciated by diners, as it ensures that their needs are met without feeling overly pressured or constantly interrupted. Attentive service contributes positively to the overall dining experience, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their meal.

The positive reviewer concludes by recommending that patrons try both the regular dim sum and the special offerings, implying that both aspects of the menu are worth exploring. Furthermore, they highlight the "good price performance" of the restaurant and mention the possibility of taking home "many leftovers," suggesting that the portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, offering good value for money.

However, it is important to consider a contrasting review that presents a more mixed experience. This customer, who also enjoys dim sum, described their visit as "a hit and miss." Their primary issue stemmed from an order mistake where they received a dry tofu wrap with vegetables instead of the requested chicken version. The subsequent interaction with the server regarding this error, where the customer was told they would still need to pay for the incorrect dish because they had cut into it, raises concerns about customer service in certain situations. While the reviewer acknowledged that this might be considered reasonable by some, they felt that the restaurant should have rectified their own mistake.

In addition to the order issue, this reviewer found the dim sum to be "just ok" and the porridge to be "too salty." This feedback suggests that while some dishes might be exceptional, consistency across the entire menu could be an area for improvement. This highlights the importance of trying a variety of dishes to form a comprehensive opinion of the restaurant's offerings.

Considering both reviews, Hung To Seafood Restaurant appears to be a place with the potential to offer a unique and satisfying dim sum experience, particularly for those interested in exploring less common dishes alongside traditional favorites. The cozy ambiance and generally attentive service are also positive aspects. However, the negative review regarding the order mistake and the quality of some dishes indicates that experiences can vary, and there might be inconsistencies in food preparation and customer service in certain situations. Potential customers might want to be mindful of this mixed feedback when deciding to dine at Hung To Seafood Restaurant.

For those intrigued by the prospect of trying unique dim sum dishes and traditional favorites in a cozy setting, Hung To Seafood Restaurant, located at 221 S Spruce Ave in South San Francisco, is worth considering. We are dim sum fans. We are delighted with the variety where it serves dishes not frequently found in other dim sum restaurants such as pig knuckles with black vinegar, congee with pork blood jelly, fried dumplings with chives. If these are exotic, they offer traditional dim sum too. We like the cozy and unassuming ambience. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and hard working but not intrusive . We recommend you try both the regular dim sum and other special offerings. Good price performance and take home many leftovers.

I like to eat dim sum but this place is a hit and miss. I ordered several plates and they made a mistake on one of them. They brought a dry tofu wrap with vegetables but I ask to have it with chicken but since I cut it the server said that I already cut it and needed to pay for it. Maybe is reasonable or not but they made the mistake and they should have serve me the correct plate. The dim sum was just ok and the porridge was too salty

Solid spot for dim sum. At lunch ask them for the specials dim sum for the day. It should be stapled with the order form but sometimes it is missing

The food was tasty. Roast pork with jellyfish and seaweed was a nice starter. The roast duck had a light dark flavored sauce on, it had a good taste to it. The scallop and shrimp platter was good. The congee soup was light mild. Stir fried beef had good flavor and the bowl of noodles had a good texture. The jackfruit dessert was mild in flavor and sweetness.

Very bad experience. We arrived around 7pm and there were two tables already seated. We waited for 25 minutes and our order never came, despite we politely asked. They were trying to cook all the dishes ordered by the other two tables before cooking ours. I asked the waiter again why they can't cook our order at all, and he said "the other tables came before you, if you don't want to wait you can leave". It was incredibly rude. He didn't have basic respect for customers. The other waiters were all standing there indifferently. We were ok with the wait but absolutely not with being treated like that. We left immediately and found another restaurant. The waiter didn't say sorry even once, throughout the whole thing. I will definitely not come back.
