Very mediocre food if not bad. Price is about the same as elsewhere. Service was good.

WARNING⚠️ If I can give this place 0 rating , on "food" I would. As a native New Yorker and foodie, I considered Hunan Wok, to be one of the best Chinese food in Essex County. Until recently, that they changed staff, and the food and preparation practices have gotten so bad, it can affect the health of its customers. My wife placed an order and her and two kids got sick, we thought it was a stomach virus that had been going around, but last weekend, I decided to order some food again. I ordered two separate orders that contained chicken. The one with chicken wings, looked and smelled good, but the order with half chicken, smelled like fried sauce. I grill, so I'm know the smell of burn sauce. The half chicken which is fried and shouldn't have any sauce, had sauce at some point, and was refried, causing the sauce to burn. For all I know, that chicken was left over by someone who had put sauce on it, refried, and placed in my order. I didn't eat it, went straight to the trash, and chose to write this review in hopes that more people with similar experience speak up. I have no issues with the staff, they're all nice, but loose stars for allowing this to happen. I recommend that if you do buy here, and get sick, look into what you ate. Check your food always. So the food is actually excellent. I’d love to give them five stars except 1. I have no idea what I was charged so much for (I ordered Chicken Egg Foo Young w/FF, Spring Roll, and small Egg Drop Soup; $24) 2. There’s a few different prices on the menu for the same items and 3. I can be wrong because it’s the first time I tried Egg Foo Young ever but I don’t see or taste any chicken in my Chicken Egg Foo Young. The food really is amazing though. I’ll definitely order from them again because it’s really hard for me to find a Chinese food place I really like. Asia Garden is so far the top Chinese food place for me. Hunan Wok can easily take 2nd place.
