About Hunan Village

Welcome to Hunan Village, a Chinese restaurant located at 453 Main St in Warsaw, Virginia. As a local Chinese Restaurant, Hunan Village aims to provide a convenient option for residents and visitors seeking a taste of Chinese cuisine. While one reviewer noted their background from China and a preference for authentic Chinese food, they acknowledged that Hunan Village is a "good place to satisfy your cravings for Chinese food," suggesting a menu that caters to a broader palate.

One of the notable features highlighted in the reviews is Hunan Village's lunch specials. These specials are reportedly priced under ten dollars and include an Egg Roll and Fried Rice, offering a complete and affordable meal. Interestingly, these lunch specials are also available on weekends, providing an attractive option for a budget-friendly Chinese meal any day of the week.

The reviews offer insights into several specific dishes on the Hunan Village menu. The "Dragon & Phoenix" dish was mentioned as being relatively expensive and consisting of a combination of shrimp and vegetables with General Tao’s Chicken. The General Tao’s Chicken component of this dish was described as "pretty tasty," indicating it might be a popular choice. Another chicken dish, the "Imperial Chicken," received positive feedback for the generous amount of tender chicken and mixed vegetables, although one reviewer found it "slightly bland" for their personal taste.

In contrast, the "Moo Shi Pork" was not recommended, with the reviewer stating it was "nothing special" and that the wraps were falling apart due to improper heating. Similarly, the "Boneless Spareribs" were met with disappointment, as they were identified as cut-up Chinese BBQ pork with a large amount of sweet sauce, rather than traditional spareribs. This suggests that some dishes might not meet the expectations of all customers.

On a more positive note, the "Fried Meat Dumplings" were described as "pretty good," with the reviewer specifically liking the meat filling. The "Shrimp Tempura" also received a positive rating, indicating it as a potentially satisfying appetizer or dish. However, the "Chicken on the Stick" was not favored, leading the reviewer to suggest trying the "Beef on the Stick" instead.

The service at Hunan Village seems to be a positive aspect, with a mention of an English-speaking waitress who is knowledgeable enough about the menu to provide recommendations. This can be particularly helpful for those unfamiliar with certain dishes or looking for suggestions.

An interesting suggestion from one reviewer is the "Pu Pu Platter," which they believe would be a good appetizer to try and potentially impressive for a date. While this dish was not personally ordered by the reviewer at the time of their visit, the recommendation suggests it might be a diverse and engaging starter option.

However, it's important to note a more recent negative review regarding a takeout order of the Pu Pu platter and house fried rice. This customer reported that the food tasted like it was "days old" and that the fried rice was dark brown and did not taste good. This was the second negative experience for this particular customer, which is concerning and suggests a potential inconsistency in food quality over time. This highlights the importance of considering all available feedback when making a decision.

Hunan Village is located at 453 Main St, Warsaw, VA 22572, and can be contacted by phone at (804) 494-5590 or their mobile number +1 804-494-5590. The provided information does not specify whether they offer dine-in, takeout, or delivery services. Given the mention of a takeout order in a review, it is likely that they at least offer takeout. Local users are advised to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about the availability of dine-in and delivery options to best suit their needs.

In conclusion, Hunan Village in Warsaw, VA, offers a range of Chinese dishes, with lunch specials being a particularly attractive offering due to their affordability and inclusion of popular items. While some dishes have received positive feedback, others have been met with less enthusiasm. The service seems to be helpful, and the Pu Pu Platter is suggested as a potential highlight. However, a recent negative review regarding food quality is something to consider. Local users looking for a Chinese restaurant in Warsaw might find Hunan Village a convenient option, especially for their lunch specials. It would be prudent to inquire about their current service options and perhaps try some of the positively reviewed dishes while being mindful of the mixed feedback regarding certain menu items and recent quality concerns.

First of all, I might be more critical since I came from China and I have developed an acquire taste for authentic Chinese food. Overall I think Hunan Village is a good place to satisfy your cravings for Chinese food. Please note that Lunch Specials are very good deals since they are under ten dollars and come with an Egg Rolls and Fried Rice. It is even offered on weekends. Dragon & Phoenix was very expensive, it is basically half shrimp and vegetables with half of the General Tao’s Chicken. General Tao’s Chicken was actually pretty tasty. Imperial Chicken has a good amount of chicken and mixed vegetables. The chicken was very tender, but the whole dish was slightly bland for my taste. I wouldn’t recommend the Moo Shi Pork, it is nothing special, and the wrap was breaking apart since they weren’t heated properly. Do not order the Boneless Spareribs, it wasn’t the spareribs, rather it was cut up Chinese BBQ pork with lots of sweet sauce. I did not like it. The Fried Meat Dumplings was pretty good, I liked the meat filling. Shrimp Tempura was good. Chicken on the Stick was not the best, I probably should ordered the Beef on the Stick. English speaking waitress knows the menu well enough to give you recommendations. Even though I didn’t order it while I was there, but I think Pu Pu Platter would be a good appetizer to try and it would impress your date.

Ordered PuPu platter and house fried rice takeout. Tasted like it was days old. The fried rice was a very dark brown and did not taste very good. This is the second time the food was awful. It’s sad because the food was good in the past.

Food was excellent!! I had the sesame chicken and she had the sesame shrimp. Both done to perfection!! If empty plates can tell the story, then there you go!! Waitress was prompt and polite and kept everything perfect without hovering. We will be back. (Note: we had the lunch sized portions and still had some to take home. ).

Best tasting Chinese in the area. I'm from n.y. and this is delicious food. Other places like kilmarnock or the buffet over by Anna's pizza is terrible food. This food is hands down the real deal .recommend 100%

Have had lunch here several times and enjoyed the food. Trying talk out now for the first time. Take out has been as good as eat-in. Best Chinese food we've found so far in the area.
