Based on the available customer reviews, Hunan Village appears to offer a pleasant dining experience with a focus on fresh and well-prepared food. One reviewer recounted a thoroughly delightful experience enjoying a chicken and prawn lunch special that included soup and tea. They specifically praised the delicious soup, the lovely tea, and the fresh and well-prepared entrees, which they found to be of perfect portion sizes. The service was also highlighted as friendly, and the reviewer appreciated the lack of pressure to order quickly or to leave after finishing their meal. This positive feedback suggests that Hunan Village aims to provide a relaxed and enjoyable dining atmosphere with attentive service.
Another reviewer shared their experience trying a lunch special, which included a main dish, rice (with an option to upgrade to egg fried rice for an additional charge), a slice of orange, and soup. They opted for the broccoli beef with egg fried rice. While they found the food to be generally "fine" and the staff to be "friendly," they did not enjoy the flavor of the soup. This indicates that while the overall quality and service were acceptable, individual preferences for certain dishes, like the soup, may vary. The reviewer also made a note about being given a small fork, which might suggest a particular style of dining or utensil preference at the restaurant.
Hunan cuisine is characterized by its rich and often spicy flavors, achieved through the use of chili peppers, garlic, and fermented ingredients. Dishes often feature smoked and cured meats, as well as a variety of fresh vegetables. Given the restaurant's name, local users can likely expect a menu that includes classic Hunan dishes such as Mao's braised pork, Dong'an chicken, and various spicy stir-fries. Seafood and vegetable dishes are also likely to be prominent. To get a comprehensive understanding of their specific offerings, it would be best to consult their menu directly.
The first review suggests that the environment at Hunan Village is conducive to a relaxed dining experience, where customers do not feel rushed. While neither review provides extensive details about the décor or ambiance, the positive comments about the overall experience imply a comfortable and welcoming setting. In terms of services, Hunan Village offers dine-in service, as indicated by both reviews of on-site dining experiences. Features of Hunan Village likely include its specialization in authentic Hunan cuisine, providing flavors that may be distinct from more common Cantonese or Sichuan styles. The use of fresh ingredients and well-prepared dishes are also highlighted in the positive review. The friendly and unhurried service contributes to a pleasant dining atmosphere. However, as noted by one reviewer, individual dishes, like the soup, might not appeal to everyone's taste.

Customer Reviews
The two of us enjoyed a chicken and prawn lunch special with soup and tea. The soup was delicious, the tea was lovely and the entrees were fresh, well prepared and perfect portions. The service was friendly and there was no rush to order or leave. A thoroughly delightful experience and we will be back to try other dishes.
I recently stopped by a restaurant for a quick lunch and decided to try their lunch special. The special included a main dish, rice with an upcharge option for egg fried rice, a slice of orange, and soup. I opted for the broccoli beef with egg fried rice. While I found the food to be fine and the staff to be friendly, I didn't enjoy the soup's flavor. A thing to note is that they gave me a small fork.
Had the Mongolian Lamb Lunch special. The soup was delicious, and the dish was very good. It came out hot and the vegetables were fresh.
Boy. Up in Oakland visiting my sister and I stumbled on this place. The green beans with chicken and black bean sauce was superb. So was the bean curd and black mushroom. This place is fully legit
I don't understand the negative reviews. I was a customer of Hunan Village for over 20 years. The owners sold the business, but don't hold it against the new owners. The food is terrific. I found the food under the new owners as good, if not better than the old owners. The new owners are very friendly. Please give them a chance. The new owners did a facility makeover and I did not notice a change in prices. Just ordered takeout tonight and the food is consistently good and the portions are generous.
