About Hunan Style

Located at 630 G St in Davis, California, Hunan Style is a Chinese Restaurant that focuses on delivering the authentic flavors of Hunan cuisine. Known for its bold and often spicy dishes, Hunan Style aims to provide a genuine taste of this distinct culinary tradition to the local community. You can contact them at (530) 231-5536 or their mobile number, +1 530-231-5536, for reservations or to inquire about their menu.

Based on the customer reviews available online, Hunan Style has garnered a reputation for its authenticity, with one reviewer stating, "Very authentic and I agree with most of comments when they say this is probably the best hunan cuisine around!" This strong endorsement suggests that those seeking a genuine Hunan culinary experience will likely find it at this establishment. The same reviewer also addressed comments about the food being too spicy, questioning why individuals who dislike spice would choose a Hunan restaurant in the first place, implying that heat is an integral and expected characteristic of their cuisine.

Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, emphatically stating, "If you like spicy food, you must go here!" This further reinforces the notion that Hunan Style specializes in dishes with a significant level of heat. This reviewer also pointed out the helpfulness of "always parking available," which is a significant convenience for diners. They noted that the restaurant can get crowded, leading to slightly slower service, but still recognized it as "great authentic Hunan style in Sacramento area," suggesting that it serves a wider regional clientele beyond just Davis. A unique feature they highlighted is the provision of a "large gallon size of water container at the table," humorously noting that it's necessary because "you will feel the spice at some point." This again underscores the fiery nature of their offerings and the restaurant's preparedness for it.

For those who might be wary of extreme spice levels, one reviewer offered specific dish recommendations. They suggested the "eggplant with green beans ($14.95)" as "very fresh, cooked nicely, not spicy at all." This indicates that Hunan Style also offers milder options for those who prefer less heat. In contrast, they described the "spicy flounder fish ($24.95)" as "indeed SPICY," noting that it "will numb your mouth but does go away." However, they also pointed out the generous inclusion of various vegetables in the sauce, such as bean sprouts, wood ear mushroom, and king oysters, making it "worth it for portion size and ingredients in the meal." Lastly, they commented on the "Dan Dan noodles ($12.95)," describing them as "alright" and noting they were mixed with diced pickled mustard greens. Overall, this reviewer summarized the food as "spicy and fresh," providing a balanced perspective on the menu.

Considering these reviews, Hunan Style in Davis is clearly a go-to destination for those who appreciate authentic and often fiery Hunan cuisine. However, they also offer milder options like the eggplant with green beans. The availability of parking is a significant convenience for customers. The restaurant can get busy, potentially leading to slower service, but the quality and authenticity of the food seem to outweigh this for many. The provision of large water containers is a thoughtful touch for those tackling the spicier dishes.

The reviews offer limited insights into the environment of Hunan Style. One reviewer mentioned it being busy, suggesting a popular and possibly bustling atmosphere. However, there are no specific descriptions of the décor, layout, or overall ambiance. Local users interested in dining in might want to inquire about the restaurant's setting when they make a reservation or call to order.

In terms of services, Hunan Style undoubtedly offers dine-in options, as indicated by the reviewers who ate at the restaurant. Given the nature of Chinese restaurants, it is also highly likely that they provide takeout services. Customers can probably place orders for pickup by calling the provided phone numbers. Delivery options are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews.

Regarding specific features or signature dishes, the reviews highlight the authenticity and spiciness of their Hunan cuisine as a primary feature. The Hand-Shredded Chicken with Jellyfish (mentioned in a review for a different restaurant but relevant as a Hunan dish) is a classic Hunan appetizer that might be found here as well, given their focus on authenticity. The eggplant with green beans is a notable non-spicy option that is praised for its freshness. The spicy flounder fish is clearly a signature spicy dish, appreciated for its heat and the variety of vegetables it includes. The Dan Dan noodles are another Hunan staple available on their menu. To get a comprehensive understanding of their specialties and the full range of their offerings, it would be best to consult their menu directly.

The provided information does not include any details about current promotional offers or specials at Hunan Style. To find out if they have any lunch specials, family meal deals, or other promotions, it is recommended to contact the restaurant directly.

In conclusion, Hunan Style in Davis is a Chinese Restaurant that specializes in authentic and often spicy Hunan cuisine. It is highly recommended for those who enjoy bold flavors and a significant level of heat in their food. While they do offer milder options like the eggplant with green beans, spice is a central characteristic of their menu. The restaurant is known for its fresh ingredients and generous portions, particularly in dishes like the spicy flounder fish. Convenient parking is a plus for diners. While the service might be a bit slow during busy periods, the authenticity and quality of the Hunan food make it a worthwhile visit for those seeking a genuine taste of this regional Chinese cuisine in the Davis and Sacramento area.

If you like spicy food, you must go here! Always parking available which is helpful. A lot of people, so the service was a little slow. Great authentic Hunan style in Sacramento area. Really enjoy the large gallon size of water container at the table you get because you will feel the spice at some point. I recommend getting the eggplant with green beans ($14.95) since it very fresh, cooked nicely, not spicy at all. The spicy flounder fish ($24.95) is indeed SPICY, will numb your mouth but does go away, the sauce does contain a lot of veggie options such as bean sprouts, wood ear mushroom, king oysters which is worth it for portion size and ingredients in the meal. Dan Dan noodles ($12.95) were alright, just mixed in with diced pickled mustard greens. Overall, the food was spicy and fresh.

Hands down the best Hunan food, or just Chinese food, in the great Sacramento region. If you are not up for the authentic Chinese food or remotely understand what is like being authentic Chinese, don’t bother to come here, Panda Express is next to the freeway. Everything was just authentically Hunan, makes me homesick af
