Hunan Restaurant 湖南菜馆

This place is amazing for some spicy Hunan style Chinese food. I’ve come here a few times and the food never disappoints. The dishes are spicy but the spice does not overpower the other flavours of the dish. The restaurant is also friendly for individual diners as each time I see single patrons eating bowls of noodle or have one dish with a big bowl of rice. You know it’s good when even Caucasian individual diners show up to eat here, which is an authentic Chinese restaurant.

Even a simple fried green pepper with eggs can be this delicious! So tasty!!!😭And the stir-fried noodles… absolutely flavorful! If I am living in downtown, I want to come here every day.

We tried braised eggplant, fried Chinese cauliflower, mini hotpot and buns. Loves everything.. especially the snow cake with red beans&cococut is my personal favourite.. must try!!!

Big fan of this place. Food is tasty, served quickly and your money goes a long way. The assorted luwei appetizer was good. Tofu, egg and crisp pigs ear marinaded in a delicious spiced, but not spicy broth. It's cold, but is meant to be. The braised beef noodle soup is excellent. Chunks of tender brisket, bursting with flavor, on chewy noodles, in a umami intense broth. Slurp away, the way it's meant to be enjoyed! I went back and had the braised pork belly on rice. The rice had the same sauce the pork was cooked in, making it so good not a grain was left. The pork itself was easy to eat, the fat had rendered and just melts in the mouth. Comes with egg and some greens to balance it out. I would definitely come back.
