About Hunan

Located at 430 Teaneck Rd in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, Hunan is a Chinese restaurant serving the local community. As a Chinese Restaurant, Hunan aims to provide a range of Chinese culinary offerings for those seeking takeout or potentially a quick dine-in experience. You can reach them at (201) 373-1888 or their mobile number +1 201-373-1888.

Based on recent customer feedback, the environment at Hunan appears to be somewhat dated. Reviewers have noted "clear signs of aging," including "yellowed printout signs" and a "somewhat grimy eating space." While the restaurant does offer "a few tables and chairs" for dine-in customers, it's worth noting that there are "warnings against loud noise and boisterous conversations inside the restaurant," suggesting a focus on quick service and takeout.

In terms of service, customers describe it as "brisk and neutral." While not particularly warm or chatty, the service is reported to be efficient, especially concerning order preparation times. One reviewer specifically mentioned that their order was ready in precisely the quoted fifteen-minute timeframe, highlighting the restaurant's punctuality in fulfilling takeout orders.

The food at Hunan has received mixed reviews. One customer who ordered the beef and broccoli found it to be "on the greasy side" with some of the meat being "tougher" than preferred. However, they did note that the taste was "spot on." The barbecued spare ribs ordered by another customer were reportedly liked, but contained "more large pieces of hanging fat" than desired. Another review was significantly more negative, describing the food as "disgusting," with complaints about greasy and soggy egg rolls with burnt filling, as well as burnt meat inside the fried wontons.

Regarding value, one customer felt that a "ten dollar plus serving" of beef and broccoli came in a "small pint-sized container" that was "not quite filled to the brim," suggesting a potential concern about portion sizes relative to price.

In summary, Hunan in Ridgefield Park offers Chinese takeout with the possibility of limited dine-in. While praised for its prompt order preparation, customer experiences regarding food quality and the restaurant's ambiance vary. Some find the food satisfactory in taste but potentially greasy or with issues in texture and preparation, while others have had significantly negative experiences. The value proposition has also been questioned by at least one reviewer. For local users seeking Chinese takeout in the area, Hunan presents itself as an option, but it's advisable to consider the range of recent customer feedback when making a decision.

Since I'm relatively new to the area, I'm still on the hunt for a reliable Chinese takeout place. Hunan Wok was one of several candidates in our regular commuting radius, so we decided to give it a go this week. The restaurant shows clear signs of aging, with yellowed printout signs and a somewhat grimy eating space. There are a few tables and chairs for those who might opt to dine in, but bear in mind there are warnings against loud noise and boisterous conversations inside the restaurant. Service - both on the phone and at the counter - was brisk and neutral as far as friendliness goes, but I don't need a Chinese takeout order to be warm and chatty. I have my therapist for that. When it comes to food, I need it to be good. And fast. To that end, orders are prepared with punctuality. After I placed my order on the phone, I was told my food would be ready in fifteen minutes. I often like to see how accurate these estimates are, so I glanced down at my watch when my bag of food was in hand, and was surprised to find that it'd been exactly fifteen minutes. As far as our meal went, it was just okay. My usual order of beef and broccoli was definitely on the greasy side, and some of the meat was on the tougher side. Taste-wise, it was spot on. My husband seemed to like his barbecued spare ribs, but there were more large pieces of hanging fat on it than I would've liked. The value point also seemed off, since a ten dollar plus serving came in a small pint-sized container (at that, not quite filled to the brim) Would I return? If I was in the immediate area and desperate for an immediate meal, I might come back. But there are a few others in the area I've tried that have hit closer to the target of my taste buds.

This place is disgusting. I ordered 2 eggs rolls and fried wontons. The eggs rolls were so greasy and soggy inside and the wonton meat inside was completely black and burnt. Nasty. How do u mess up an egg roll??

The best Chinese food in Ridgefield Park. Just enjoyed my sesame chicken combination along with an order of shrimp toast. Had to come here to give props.
