About Hunan Delight Matsuya

Welcome to Hunan Delight Matsuya, your local Chinese Restaurant situated at 1467 York Ave in New York, NY. As a Chinese Restaurant, we offer a variety of dishes from the Asian culinary tradition, available for dine-in, takeout, and delivery to serve the local community.

Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at Hunan Delight Matsuya appear to be varied. One customer expressed significant disappointment with the vegetable fried rice, describing it as the "worst and most disgusting" they had ever had. They noted its appearance as simply white rice mixed with frozen vegetables, lacking any signs of being fried, cooked together, seasoned, or having sauce. This customer stated they would discard the dish and not order again.

In contrast, another customer had a highly positive experience with our fried calamari. They found it to be "absolutely delightful," praising its perfect crispiness on the outside, tender inside, and the seasoning that enhanced its natural flavor. The addition of fresh vegetables like onions and green peppers was noted as a refreshing touch, making it an excellent appetizer and a perfect pairing for a drink. This customer highly recommended trying the fried calamari.

Given these contrasting reviews, it is advisable for local users to consider trying a variety of dishes to form their own opinion about Hunan Delight Matsuya. While the vegetable fried rice received strong criticism, the fried calamari was lauded as a standout appetizer.

The worst and most disgusting vegetable fried rice I’ve ever had in my life. It literally looks like just white rice with frozen vegetables in it. Nothing looks fried. Doesn’t look like it was even cooked together. Honestly, looks like it was just thrown into a container together. No seasoning, no sauce, nothing. Literally throwing this away and never ordering from here again.

The fried calamari here is absolutely delightful! Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, it’s seasoned just right to enhance its natural flavor. The addition of fresh vegetables like onions and green peppers adds a refreshing touch to the dish. It’s the perfect pairing for a drink and makes for an excellent appetizer. Highly recommend trying this if you're visiting!

First time trying the restaurant, looking for some Chinese food. Ordered the hot and sour soup and miso soup. Both were pretty yummy and soothing on a rainy day. For entrees, got the honey walnut shrimp and the mapo tofu. The honey walnut shrimp was not what I was used to or expecting. The breading was a bit crunchier, closer to popcorn shrimp. The sauce was not fully incorporated and kind of half mixed, half on top. The flavor was good and the shrimp was cooked real well; I am just used to a more creamy and less thick sauce. I would probably get it again if I was craving it! The mapo tofu was also different. It was spicy but not super deep in flavor. The sauce was a good consistency but I would've ordered more black bean sauce and more ground pork. Overall, it went well with the rice just need a bit more. It's in a convenient location and I would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes and the lunch special. The service was really nice and made the experience worth it. Oh, plus you get free wonton chips with a sweet and sour sauce so that's kind of nice.

I adore this gem! The food is amazing, great portions and affordable too. The staff is kind and attentive. It easily became my favorite chinese restaurant. Their egg roll and sesame chicken are the best!

A super-cozy, absolutely delicious spot for Chinese food. Has always been one of my very favorite go-to spots for comforting food and a warm, quiet atmosphere. The Cantonese noodle soups are particularly good, as well as the Mapo Tofu and all the classic dishes. Definitely don’t miss this wonderful place!
