About Hunan Coventry

Hunan Coventry is a Chinese restaurant located at 1800 Coventry Rd in Cleveland Heights, Ohio (zip code 44118), USA. As a local establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, Hunan Coventry offers a variety of Chinese dishes to the community. Customers can choose to dine in at their location or take their food to go through their takeout service. Hunan Coventry can be contacted at their phone number: (216) 371-0777 or their mobile phone number: +1 216-371-0777.

Based on recent customer feedback available online, experiences at Hunan Coventry appear to be mixed, with one long-time customer expressing nostalgia alongside current disappointment, while another recent customer reported a significantly negative experience with the food quality. One reviewer, who had fond memories of Hunan Coventry from 30 years prior, recently ordered their favorite dish, Cashew Chicken. They noted that the order was prepared promptly and served hot. However, they found the rice to be somewhat stale, which they were willing to overlook due to the off-peak time of their visit. Their more significant disappointment was with the sauce of the Cashew Chicken, which they felt tasted like it came from a can, unlike what they remembered enjoying in the early 1990s. This suggests a potential change in the preparation or ingredients of this particular dish over time.

In stark contrast, another recent customer had a decidedly negative experience with their order from Hunan Coventry. They described the food as "absolutely nasty" and expressed significant disappointment. Their review specifically mentioned several dishes: the General Tso Chicken was described as mushy, the Lemon Chicken was bland, and the string beans were overcooked. The customer was so dissatisfied with the General Tso Chicken that they reportedly threw it away and did not finish eating the rest of their meal. This strongly negative experience led them to conclude that they would not order from Hunan Coventry again.

Considering these two recent reviews, it is evident that the current quality of food at Hunan Coventry is perceived differently by customers. The long-time patron's experience suggests that while some aspects like preparation time and temperature might be satisfactory, the flavor profiles of familiar dishes may have changed, leading to disappointment. The more recent review paints a concerning picture of multiple dishes suffering from issues with texture, flavor, and cooking. The descriptions of mushy General Tso Chicken, bland Lemon Chicken, and overcooked string beans indicate potential inconsistencies in the kitchen's execution of these popular Chinese dishes.

As a Chinese restaurant offering both dine-in and takeout, Hunan Coventry likely has a menu featuring a range of standard Chinese cuisine. The customer reviews specifically mention Cashew Chicken, General Tso Chicken, and Lemon Chicken. Cashew Chicken typically consists of chicken stir-fried with cashews and vegetables in a savory sauce. General Tso Chicken is a well-known dish featuring chunks of battered and fried chicken coated in a sweet, tangy, and often spicy sauce. Lemon Chicken usually involves breaded and fried chicken with a bright, lemon-flavored sauce. The negative feedback on both General Tso Chicken and Lemon Chicken raises concerns about the overall quality and preparation of their more common offerings.

For local users in Cleveland Heights and the surrounding areas considering Hunan Coventry, it is important to weigh these recent experiences. The nostalgic positive sentiment from a past customer is contrasted by a current disappointment in a previously enjoyed dish. More significantly, the "absolutely nasty" review detailing multiple poorly prepared items should be a serious consideration. Potential customers might want to approach ordering from Hunan Coventry with caution, especially if they have specific expectations regarding the quality and taste of classic Chinese dishes like General Tso Chicken and Lemon Chicken.

Given the limited information available and the concerning nature of the recent negative review, it is difficult to provide insights into the restaurant's environment or any unique features beyond offering dine-in and takeout services. No promotional information was included in the provided text. Therefore, local users who are still interested in trying Hunan Coventry may want to consider these recent experiences and perhaps look for more up-to-date reviews from a broader range of customers to get a more comprehensive understanding of the current dining experience. It might also be prudent to inquire about the preparation methods and ingredients of specific dishes before placing an order.

In conclusion, Hunan Coventry in Cleveland Heights, OH, is a Chinese restaurant that has served the community for a significant period. However, recent customer reviews indicate potential issues with food quality and consistency, particularly concerning the flavor of familiar dishes and the preparation of popular items like General Tso Chicken and Lemon Chicken. Local users should consider this feedback when making decisions about dining at or ordering from Hunan Coventry.

I loved this place 30 years ago and recently ordered my favorite, Cashew Chicken. It was prepared in a timely manner and was hot. The rice was a little old which I forgave since I went at an off time, but the sauce tasted like something from a can, what I enjoyed in the early 90s.

Absolutely nasty! So disappointed. General Tso chicken was mushy, lemon chicken bland and my string beans over cooked. General Tso chicken we trashed and didn't finish eating. The last time ordering here.

I have been a patron of Hunan Coventry since my relocation to Cleveland Heights approximately a year ago. The culinary experience has consistently been exceptional, offering truly authentic Chinese cuisine that surpasses any other Chinese restaurant in northeast Ohio. The staff is unfailingly welcoming, with a special shoutout to James who exemplifies exceptional service. During my recent visit, an unfortunate incident occurred when a table left without paying their bill. However, James handled the situation admirably. My personal favorites on the menu are the chicken lo mein and pork pot stickers, both of which never disappoint. Additionally, the restaurant boasts a commendable wine selection. The pricing is reasonable, making it an attractive option for both take-out and dine-in. Take-out orders are efficiently processed, typically ready within 15-20 minutes. In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend Hunan Coventry with a perfect 10/10 rating. For those in Cleveland Heights, there's no need to explore other Chinese restaurants – Hunan Coventry has your culinary needs covered.

I honestly had asked myself when I walked in. Why is this place totally empty at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Then I got up to go to the bathroom and I found out why. I just had to look at the women's and men's room restroom doors to know that if the outside door where people put their hands hasn't been cleaned in 30 years, what am I in for when I get in the bathroom? It was a horror show of smell of dirt that hadn't been cleaned nothing in days and weeks, not months, but in my opinion years. I will never, not just walk in there, but not even be on the same side of the street ever again and I suggest you do the same, never ever step foot in this place for fear of your health. And if anybody at the health department reads this, they should get involved for this one reason. In the men's room, there was no paper towels. You have males working there. You do the math. Water plus no paper towel equals the meeting of unwashed hands. If I had anything to do with this restaurant, I would've been embarrassed to open the doors. Food was served well, server was very pleasant. But the management and ownership of this place should be taken to task by government officials in the city of Cleveland Heights. My opinion and that's what reviews are. Warning to the owners of this for response I can edit this, and I shall do it if you make me make you my life's work.

Amazing Food with very fast service. There are many food places on Coventry, yet the hospitality and price sets this place apart from the others by a vast margin. My family loves it here. Plus very affordable Sake for the guy after business meetings.
