About Hunan Chinese Restaurant

Hunan Chinese Restaurant is a Chinese dining establishment located at 110 Susannah Ave, Bardstown, KY 40004, USA. As a local representative of the Chinese Restaurant category, Hunan aims to provide the Bardstown community with a range of Chinese culinary delights. They can be contacted at (502) 349-0716 or via their mobile number +1 502-349-0716 for inquiries or to place orders.

Based on recent customer feedback, Hunan Chinese Restaurant appears to offer a distinct dining experience characterized by freshness and a made-to-order approach. One customer who had a less favorable experience with a takeout order mentioned that the food was barely warm after a 10-minute drive home and that reheating did not improve the taste, suggesting a potential issue with their takeout preparation or packaging. This reviewer also found that "everything tastes the same" and described the spring rolls as "not that good," possibly indicating the use of frozen items. Consequently, they stated they would not return.

In stark contrast, another customer had an overwhelmingly positive experience when dining in with their mother. They specifically sought out Hunan Chinese Restaurant due to the scarcity of good Chinese food in their small town and were "absolutely blown away" by their visit. This reviewer emphasized that the food was "piping fresh" and that the restaurant makes "everything to order," highlighting a commitment to freshness and customization. They lauded the black pepper chicken as a "shining star" dish and praised the staff as "friendly and accommodating." Furthermore, they described the atmosphere as "great," noting the presence of Chinese music and "cool trinkets to buy and take home," suggesting a unique and engaging environment. This highly satisfied customer stated they would "absolutely" return whenever they crave Chinese food.

Considering these two contrasting reviews, Hunan Chinese Restaurant seems to offer a potentially high-quality dine-in experience with fresh, made-to-order food and a pleasant atmosphere. The standout dish appears to be the black pepper chicken. The availability of "cool trinkets to buy and take home" suggests a unique feature that goes beyond just dining. The friendly and accommodating staff also contribute positively to the dine-in experience, according to one reviewer.

However, the negative review regarding a takeout order raises concerns about the consistency of food quality and temperature for off-site consumption. The issues of lukewarm food upon arrival and a perceived lack of distinct flavors in the dishes are significant drawbacks. The comment about potentially frozen spring rolls also contrasts with the other reviewer's praise for freshness.

The environment of Hunan Chinese Restaurant, based on the positive review, includes Chinese music and interesting decorative items or "trinkets" that are also available for purchase. This suggests an effort to create an authentic and possibly engaging cultural ambiance for dine-in customers, potentially setting it apart from standard Chinese restaurants. However, the negative review provides no insight into the dine-in environment, focusing solely on the quality of the takeout food.

The services offered by Hunan Chinese Restaurant include both dine-in and takeout options, as indicated by the two reviews. The positive reviewer highlighted the staff as "friendly and accommodating," suggesting good customer service for dine-in patrons. The negative review implies that the takeout service might have issues with maintaining food temperature and quality during transit. The fact that food is made to order could be seen as a service feature, allowing for customization and ensuring freshness for dine-in customers, though this benefit might not fully translate to takeout orders depending on packaging and travel time.

A unique feature of Hunan Chinese Restaurant appears to be the availability of "cool trinkets to buy and take home," suggesting a retail aspect in addition to the dining experience. The made-to-order food preparation, particularly praised for the black pepper chicken, is another notable feature that emphasizes freshness and quality for dine-in customers. The potentially authentic Chinese music also contributes to the overall ambiance.

No specific promotional information is mentioned in the provided reviews. It is unknown if Hunan Chinese Restaurant offers any lunch specials, combination deals, discounts for seniors or students, or any other promotions to attract customers. Local users interested in any potential promotions should contact the restaurant directly at (502) 349-0716 or +1 502-349-0716 to inquire about current offers or specials on their menu.

In conclusion, Hunan Chinese Restaurant in Bardstown, KY, presents a mixed picture based on the available reviews. The dine-in experience seems to be highly regarded for its fresh, made-to-order food, particularly the black pepper chicken, friendly service, and unique atmosphere with Chinese music and trinkets for sale. However, the takeout experience described in one review was significantly negative, citing issues with food temperature, lack of distinct flavors, and potentially frozen items. Local users considering Hunan Chinese Restaurant should weigh these contrasting experiences. For those planning to dine in, the restaurant appears to offer a pleasant and potentially authentic experience. For takeout, it might be prudent to inquire about preparation and packaging to ensure food quality upon arrival.

Just got a fairly good side order to go. Have been to many good Chinese Restaurants for both dine in or take out. This is not one of them. In a 10 minute drive home the food was barely warm. Reheated, but did not improve the taste. Everything tastes the same. Spring rolls were not that good possibly frozen. We won't be back.

Stopped in here with my mom because we wanted some Chinese food. And living in a small town good Chinese food isn’t easy to find. We decided to try hunan and were absolutely blown away. The food was piping fresh, and they make everything to order. The black pepper chicken is a shining star at this place! The staff were friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was great with Chinese music and cool trinkets to buy and take home. Absolutely will come back here next time I crave Chinese food!

My husband and I tried Hunan Chinese for the first time tonight. We were extremely skeptical because everything we have heard has been very hit or miss. We placed an online carry out order, got Singapore mei fun, crab Rangoon, general Tao’s chicken and 2 egg rolls. Everything was very good! Food was ready when I got there to pick it up, everything was still hot when we got home. The general tsos was actually spicy which never happens. We definitely plan on going back.

Moved back to Bardstown. Remembered how much of a staple this was. Due to the fire, they've moved locations. New location is not as nicely decorated or welcoming. Atmosphere lacked significantly, but this could be intentional if they prefer making take out? There were a few tables inside, but i wouldn't want to eat in. I was so upset to discover they changed their eggroll recipe. The new one is significantly smaller and definitely not as good. Instead of the large amount of juicy cabbage and pieces of pork, it's full of a mushy, minced mystery meat. Very disappointing. Beef and broccoli lacked flavor, but it was still edible. Dinner portions were good. It fed 2 people with some left over. Service was still fast and friendly like I remember. Most likely won't be back for a while.
