About Hunan Cafe
Welcome to Hunan Cafe, a Chinese restaurant located at 43300 Southern Walk Plz #114 in Ashburn, Virginia. As a long-standing business in the area within the Chinese Restaurant category, Hunan Cafe has garnered attention for its affordability and the generous portions it offers. You can contact them at (703) 726-3890 or +1 703-726-3890 for orders or inquiries.
According to customer feedback, a significant feature of Hunan Cafe is its pricing, often described as the most affordable Chinese restaurant option in the vicinity. This makes it an attractive choice for budget-conscious diners looking for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. Coupled with the price point, the restaurant is also recognized for its generous portion sizes, suggesting that customers often feel they receive a substantial amount of food for their money. This combination of affordability and quantity can be a major draw for many local residents.
Another aspect highlighted in the reviews is the speed of service. While one review simply mentions "fast" service, it implies that Hunan Cafe is efficient in preparing and delivering food, likely catering to those who are looking for a quick meal option. The fact that it is a "long-time business in this town" suggests a degree of stability and a loyal customer base over the years, which can often be indicative of consistent quality or a strong value proposition.
However, alongside the positive remarks regarding price and portion size, there are also critical reviews concerning the food preparation. One customer detailed their order of Kung Pao chicken, black pepper chicken, vegetable spring rolls, and fried rice, specifically requesting that everything be spicy. According to this review, while the flavor profile of the dishes was acceptable, the execution was flawed due to an excessive amount of oil. The customer reported that all the items were "drenched in oil," and the spring rolls tasted of "stale oil." Additionally, both chicken dishes were noted to be breaded, which might not align with all customers' preferences or expectations for these particular dishes.
This feedback suggests a potential issue with the consistency or style of cooking at Hunan Cafe, particularly concerning the use of oil. While the customer acknowledged that the "flavor profile" was correct, the excessive oiliness detracted significantly from their dining experience. The mention of stale oil in the spring rolls also raises concerns about the freshness of the cooking oil used. These are important points for potential customers to consider.
The environment of Hunan Cafe is not explicitly described in the provided reviews. However, the focus on affordability and fast service might suggest a more casual and functional setting rather than an elaborate or upscale ambiance. Typically, restaurants that prioritize value and speed often have a straightforward and efficient layout to facilitate quick order processing and customer turnover. Without further information, it is difficult to provide a detailed description of the restaurant's physical environment.
Regarding services, the reviews primarily focus on takeout, although it is reasonable to assume that Hunan Cafe also offers dine-in options given its physical location. The mention of fast service likely applies to both takeout and dine-in customers. However, there is no specific information about additional services such as online ordering or delivery through third-party platforms in the provided text. To get a comprehensive understanding of their service offerings, it would be best to contact Hunan Cafe directly.
Features of Hunan Cafe, based on the reviews, include its affordable pricing, generous food portions, and potentially quick service. The fact that it has been operating in the town for a long time could also be considered a feature, indicating a level of community trust or consistent appeal over the years. However, the reported issues with excessive oil in the food and the use of stale oil for frying are significant drawbacks that potential customers should be aware of.
No specific promotional information was included in the customer reviews. Chinese restaurants often have lunch specials, family meal deals, or discounts for certain order amounts. To find out if Hunan Cafe currently offers any promotions, it is recommended to check their website (if available), any local advertising, or by calling them directly at (703) 726-3890 or +1 703-726-3890.
In conclusion, Hunan Cafe in Ashburn, VA, presents itself as an affordable Chinese restaurant with a history in the local community, known for its generous portion sizes and potentially fast service. However, recent customer feedback also indicates potential concerns regarding the excessive use of oil in their dishes and the freshness of frying oil. While the price and quantity of food may be appealing, potential customers should consider the reported issues with food preparation before making a decision. It might be beneficial to inquire about their cooking methods or recent changes in their kitchen practices when placing an order or visiting the restaurant.

Customer Reviews
Great price with generous portions. Most affordable Chinese restaurant in this area. Food is good to eat, fast, long- time business this town.
I ordered Kung Pao and black pepper chicken, vegetable spring rolls and fried rice. Asked everything to be spicy and they added chilli oil on top of regular amount of oil. Everything was drenched in oil. Spring rolls tasted like stale oil. Both the chicken dishes were breaded. They got the flavor profile right but ruined with too much oil.
Below average based on 3 lunch specials I tried. Broccoli beef was a bit over cooked and 2 other dishes (twice cooked pork and kung pao chicken) were so-so. The spring rolls were crispy but too salty for my taste)
Not good at all. Ordered the Sesame Beef. Big chunks of tough, tasteless overcooked meet. No sesame seeds as near as I could tell. Sauce tasted more like ketchup than the sweet spicy kind I expected. Threw most of it out.
Been going there for years. Family run business in Broadlands. Always good. Everything on the menu. Consistent high quality. Fresh ingredients. Generous portions. Tasty. Reasonably priced. Excellent service. Classic take out or have delivered. Don't take my word. Try it!
