A key feature of Hunan Cafe is its focus on Hunan cuisine, known for its rich, spicy, and often smoky flavors. The menu appears to offer a variety of dishes, as evidenced by the mention of a "lunch special" featuring beef or chicken combos served with white or fried rice and an egg roll. One customer tried the "beef and vegetables" lunch special, noting it was a "decent size entree for a light lunch" but smaller than a regular portion. While this particular reviewer found the beef to be "a bit over cooked" and "tough and chewy," they also mentioned that "the rest of the food was hot and cooked well," and the "service was quick." This suggests that the lunch special is a convenient option for those seeking a fast and reasonably priced meal.

Another highly praised dish is the General Tao chicken. One reviewer described it as "perfect," highlighting that it was "meaty, lightly battered and tender" with a "correct flavor" sauce. They also appreciated the inclusion of "onion, carrots and green bell pepper" and noted that it was served "piping hot." This positive feedback indicates that the General Tao chicken is a standout item on the menu, prepared with attention to detail and quality ingredients.

The fried rice also received positive comments, with one reviewer who dined in after 4 pm stating that it was "excellent." Additionally, the "tender egg roll that came with the early dinner special" was also commended. Tried out Hunan Cafe for their lunch special which it’s one of their various beef or chicken combos with either white or fried rice and an egg roll. I decided to go with the beef and vegetables. Decent size entree for a light lunch, but don’t expect a normal size for the lunch special. The beef was a bit over cooked and was tough and chewy rather than tender, but the rest of the food was hot and cooked well. Service was quick and food was received quick. Good option for a quick lunch.

General Tao chicken was perfect. Meaty, lightly battered and tender. The sauce was the correct flavor. I also liked that it was severed with onion, carrots and green bell pepper. It came to the table piping hot. I dined in after 4 pm. I was pleasantly surprised to have gotten an actual plate, steel silverware, glass cup for my water, and a cloth napkin. Gentle music played overhead. The fried rice was excellent, as was the tender egg roll that came with the early dinner special. This is the way dining in should be.

Lovely small place with great food . We ordered Singapore noodles and Mongolian chicken . Giving 4 stars because the plain fried rice could have had more flavors

The food was great, can’t wait to try more dishes. Lots of choices, almost couldn’t decide but went with Steamed dumplings and Salt & pepper calamari for our appetizers. For our entree’s, we had the Hunan Chicken and Green pepper steak w/ Lo Mein (not pictured). Both tasted great! The atmosphere was cozy and the restaurant was clean. Carmen, the server was great! Awesome personality! Definitely recommend to try this place out!

Decided to try this quaint Chinese Restaurant today. The food score on the door was a 100%. Having a good food score is a must for me. From 4-6pm they offer an early bird special that provides fried rice and an egg roll with your meal. I ordered the Hunan Chicken and Hot Sour Soup. My spouse ordered the sesame chicken. The Hunan Chicken was fresh hot and some what spicy hot. Lots of fresh vegetables. Rice was plain fried rice and was good for what it was. The Hot and Sour soup was surprisingly delicious. This was very hearty lots flavor and plenty of ingredients that didn’t leave it wanting. The egg roll was good for what it was, I have had better. Lastly I tried the sesame chicken and the sauce they used was just right. The chicken wasn’t as crunchy as I would expect for this type of dish. You can tell that the chicken is freshly cut chicken breast. However, with the batter that they used it should have been fried longer to make it crunchy. Overall this is a good place to visit. I would like to visit it again and try something different to see what else they offer. Also it got really busy so they must be doing something right. Service was a bit slow but very polite. Overall this place rates a “3.5 to 4” stars for this style of restaurant.
