About Hula Inn

Welcome to Hula Inn, a Chinese Restaurant located at 46000 Old Ox Rd #103, Sterling, VA 20166, USA, serving the local community with a variety of Chinese cuisine primarily through takeout services. Hula Inn can be contacted at (703) 471-9000 or +1 703-471-9000 for placing orders or inquiries.

Based on the limited customer feedback available online, experiences at Hula Inn appear to be varied and have potentially changed over time. One recent negative review from a former regular customer described a disturbing incident where a bug was found in their Bang Bang Shrimp. The resolution offered was a refund only for that specific item, leading the customer to express their intention not to return due to a loss of appetite and trust.

Another piece of feedback, labeled "2024 EDIT," notes a significant change in Hula Inn's offerings: the discontinuation of homemade sauces, resulting in a "2 point deduction" in the reviewer's assessment. This suggests that homemade sauces were a previously valued aspect of Hula Inn's food, and their absence is now considered a negative change by at least one customer.

In contrast to these negative points, another reviewer expressed considerable satisfaction with their experience. They stated that they "completely understand the previous reviewers praise," indicating that Hula Inn has had positive reviews in the past. This customer was "more than impressed with the quality of the food received," specifically highlighting "deliciously legit egg rolls," "crispy wontons," and "overly satisfying sezchwan chicken." They also mentioned "house sauces*," although the 2024 edit suggests these may no longer be homemade. Regarding service, this reviewer found the order taker to be "very polite and more then willing to except my order even as it was fairly close to closing," leading them to "highly recommend" Hula Inn.

Considering these reviews, Hula Inn seems to be a Chinese restaurant that has elicited strong but differing opinions. While one former loyal customer had a severely negative experience with a food quality issue and was dissatisfied with the service response, another customer found the food quality to be impressive and the service to be polite and accommodating. The discontinuation of homemade sauces in 2024 is also noted as a negative change by one reviewer, implying that this was a distinctive feature of Hula Inn at some point.

Information regarding the environment of Hula Inn is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. The focus is primarily on the food quality and the service related to takeout orders. Therefore, local users seeking information about the restaurant's ambiance or interior for potential dine-in (if available, though not explicitly mentioned) would need to look for additional sources or contact the restaurant directly.

The primary service offered by Hula Inn, based on the context of the reviews, is takeout. One reviewer specifically mentioned a positive experience with the politeness and willingness of the order taker. The provision of phone numbers facilitates easy ordering for pickup. There is no mention of delivery services in the provided information. The positive review also suggests that Hula Inn is willing to take orders even close to closing time, which could be a convenient service for some customers.

Features of Hula Inn, based on the positive review, include the quality of their egg rolls (described as "deliciously legit"), crispy wontons, and Szechuan chicken ("overly satisfying"). The mention of "house sauces*" suggests that they may have had signature sauces that contributed to the flavor of their dishes, although the 2024 edit indicates a change in this aspect. The robust menu, implied by the variety of dishes ordered by the reviewers (Bang Bang Shrimp, egg rolls, wontons, Szechuan chicken), suggests a standard offering of popular Chinese-American cuisine.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided text. Local users interested in any specials or discounts offered by Hula Inn would need to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers.

In summary, Hula Inn in Sterling, VA, is a Chinese restaurant primarily offering takeout services. Customer reviews present a mixed picture, with one recent negative experience involving a food quality issue and dissatisfaction with the service response, another noting the discontinuation of homemade sauces as a negative change, and a third praising the food quality (egg rolls, wontons, Szechuan chicken) and the politeness of the service. Local users considering Hula Inn should be aware of these contrasting experiences and the reported change in their sauces. The restaurant seems to have had a reputation for good food in the past, but recent experiences suggest potential inconsistencies. It may be prudent to inquire about the current status of their menu and food preparation when placing an order.

For those in the Sterling area looking for Chinese takeout, Hula Inn is a local option. The positive feedback on specific dishes like the egg rolls and Szechuan chicken might be appealing. However, the reported food safety issue and the change in sauces are factors to consider. It might be helpful to get more recent feedback from other sources before making a decision.

If you have enjoyed Hula Inn in the past, the recent reviews suggest that the experience may have changed. The discontinuation of homemade sauces, in particular, could affect the flavor profiles of their dishes. New customers should weigh the positive comments on food quality against the reported negative experiences and the menu change.

Given the limited and somewhat contradictory feedback, local users might find it useful to consider their priorities when choosing a Chinese takeout restaurant. If specific dishes mentioned in the positive review are appealing, and a basic takeout service is sufficient, Hula Inn could be an option. However, the reported food safety concern warrants careful consideration.

To make an informed decision, local residents could also look for more recent reviews on other platforms to get a broader understanding of the current customer experiences at Hula Inn. Contacting the restaurant directly to inquire about their current menu, food preparation standards, and any steps taken to address past issues might also be beneficial.

This used to be our go-to restaurant for take out. A few weeks ago, I ordered the bang bang shrimp and found a bug in my food. I took it back and they only gave me a refund for the one item. We obviously had no desire to eat anything else after that. We won’t be back.

2024 EDIT- No more homemade sauces, 2 point deduction. Well, I completely understand the previous reviewers praise. I was more than impressed with the quality of the food I received. Deliciously legit egg rolls. Crispy wontons, house sauces* and overly satisfying sezchwan chicken. And as far as service goes, I found the order taker to be very polite and more then willing to except my order even as it was fairly close to closing. Highly recommend!

The menu offers a wide range of dishes that cater to every palate, whether you’re craving classic favorites like General Tso’s Chicken or more adventurous flavors like Szechuan-style seafood. Each dish is expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and balanced seasoning, reflecting true culinary craftsmanship. The highlight of my visit was the general so chicken and the combination fried rice which were bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The portions are generous, making it great for sharing or taking some delicious leftovers home.

It's absolutely the worst Chinese food I've ever had! We got take out schezwan chicken and chicken and cashews and combination fried rice. There isn't enough soy in the county to help me get that mess down. As we all know, Chinese food is expensive. We like to get a couple of meals out of it.

Oh Boy…… the lady taking orders at the cash register , looks like the owner , she was the rudest & obnoxious ever I’ve come across so far !!!! She was literally screaming on the phone taking phone orders , full of bad and obnoxious attitude , she sounded like she was literally ‘barking’ at customers on the phone, as this is a take out joint only!! I had already paid and was waiting for my food to be picked up but had I not paid , and listening to her rude behavior and looking at her bad body language , I would’ve left right away . No food is worth so much negative rude vibes !! Guys , this joint is not worth the taste , price and definitely, the customer service !!! Save yourself the bad attitude from the owner and order where you can find some good vibes with good food and price !
