About Huis Cantonese American Cuisine
Located at 8820 W North Ave in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Huis Cantonese American Cuisine is presented under the platform category of Chinese Restaurant. Customer reviews offer a glimpse into the experience of dining at this established eatery.
One reviewer described their Friday lunch date experience as "okay," noting that while nothing was exceptional, nothing was particularly bad either. They suggested that the restaurant could benefit from repairing its outside sign and addressing the issue of staff loudly watching videos on their cell phones in speaker mode.
In contrast, another customer who visited for the first time after driving past many times shared a more positive impression. They noted that upon entering, it was evident that the restaurant has been in business for many years, with a "neat and clean and well decorated" interior. They were greeted by their server, who informed them that the restaurant has been open for over 50 years, and the server herself has been working there for 30 years. The reviewer found the menu with handwritten adjustments to have a certain "charm." They ordered the crab Rangoon and the beef with fresh ginger and scallions, which they found to be reminiscent of "classic Chinese food" that has been preserved over time. They praised the dish for its "lots of flavor, tender meat and fresh vegetables," describing it as "simple but delicious." This customer recommended giving long-standing places like Huis a try and expressed their intention to return to sample other dishes.
A third comment came from someone in the food industry who emphasized the significant impact of negative reviews and encouraged reviewers to be mindful of the years of work that go into running a restaurant.
Overall, Huis Cantonese American Cuisine appears to be a long-established restaurant with a history of serving classic Cantonese American dishes. While one recent review suggested areas for improvement in terms of exterior appearance and staff conduct, another highlighted the restaurant's clean and well-decorated interior, friendly long-term service, and flavorful, traditionally prepared food. Local users seeking a taste of classic Cantonese American cuisine in a restaurant with a rich history might find Huis worth a visit.

Friday Lunch Date with the Mommio. Huis Cantonese is okay. Nothing excells and nothing is horrid. I would recommend that the outside sign be repaired and the help should not be loudly watching videos on her cell phone in speaker mode.
Stopped in tonight for the first time to try Hui's. Many times, I have driven past and never stopped in. When you first enter the doors, you can tell that this place has been here for many years. Everything was neat and clean and well decorated. We were greeted by our server and taken to our table. After a short conversation with her, we came to find out that this place had been here for over 50 years, and our server has been there for 30 of those years. We got the menu that had hand written adjustments on it (to me, that has a kind of charm). We selected the crab Rangoon and the beef with fresh ginger and scalions. This dish reminded me of classic Chinese food, one that has been unfortunately changed over time. But not here, you could tell the food was prepared the old ways. Lots of flavor, tender meat and fresh vegetables, simple but delicious. I would recommend this place and I will return to try other dishes. I recommend giving places like this a try because unfortunately one day they might all be gone. I myself own and run a food related business and have been in the industry for almost 20 years. I know how hard it is and how easy it is for others to quickly try to tear down years of work you put into it. I say this because a 1 star review holds a lot of weight and outweighs so many good 4-5 star reviews. Please remember that as you review others.
We picked up dinner and found out the owners of the restaurant sold it. The new owners changed the recipes. The items I have been ordering for 20 years are completely different. The new recipes are awful. Time to look for a new Chinese restaurant. This is sad.
Not a place to go if you want lo mein, thin and flavorless, got the beef one and it was about 10 bucks, go to Great Taste and you can get a similar portion of tasty and chewy noodles for about 7 to 8 bucks (prices are subject to change obviously and depend on what meat you get)
Absolutely phenomenal restaurant, Owner and cook are really nice very fancy interior, and fast and good service for dine in
