Customer reviews indicate a varied experience at Hugo's Sushi and Asian Cuisine. One customer described the sushi as the best they had tasted in a long time, praising its incredible and artistic presentation. They enjoyed it so much they ordered an extra roll.
Another reviewer found the place to be nice and clean. They tried the California roll (shrimp), which they found great with perfect rice and sesame seed flavor, and the fried calamari, which they described as very crispy but tasting like a fish stick. Their Bimbimbap was noted as good with sweet beef, although the egg was overcooked and lacked seasoning. The husband's yakisoba combination plate was satisfactory, with liked shrimp but slightly soggy noodles. The children's chicken nuggets and fries were also reported as good, though the reviewer wished for more variety in the kids' menu. This customer's overall experience was just "okay," not bad but not compelling enough for a definite return, although they might try the sushi again in the future.
The reviews suggest that sushi is a highlight, with excellent presentation and taste. The environment is noted to be clean and pleasant. However, some other Asian dishes may have inconsistencies in preparation and flavor. The children's menu is limited. No specific promotional information was available in the provided reviews.

Best sushi we’ve tasted in a long time. The presentation of the food was incredible and truly an art we didn’t even want to ruin it. The chef did an amazing job because we ordered an extra roll because we couldn’t have enough.
The place is nice & clean which I loved. The food was okay for me, we started with the California roll and fried calamari. The fried calamari was really crispy and tasted like a fish stick, the shrimp California roll was great the rice was perfect and the sesame seed flavor was great. I ordered the Bimbimbap which was good, the beef was sweet, the egg unfortunately was over cooked so it was not runny as I expected it to be when I cracked in to it. It lacked seasoning. My husband got the yakisoba combination plate he liked the shrimp. The noodles were a little soggy. My daughter ordered the only child’s plate they offered which was chicken nuggets and fries which was good. I wish they would have more of a variety for the kids. I don’t know that I would return. It was okay it was not bad but it was not good enough to make me want to come back and try again. I really wanted to love this place but it just didn’t happen. I may try just a variety of sushi next time if I do return.
When I went, quiet but clean! This is my first visit, food was delicious! The Calamari, imo the best I’ve ever had, so thick and crispy but not chewy either. You take a bite and it breaks with no problem. The Kung Pao chicken, with fried rice for me, no complaints. Everything was fresh to the taste, egg roll and cucumber salad was quite tasty too! Daughter got the ice cream, she said it was very sweet and yummy! And yes, they have sushi but not for me. Family got sushi and they loved it.
Great local joint. Sushi is fairly priced for what you get. Can feed four people for around $100.
I recently visited Hugo’s Asian Cuisine in San Antonio and tried the miso soup and the King sushi roll. The miso broth was wonderful, but I wish the tofu had marinated longer—it lacked flavor and tasted mostly like plain tofu, though I did appreciate the larger pieces. As for the King roll, it was just okay. It seemed to be missing something flavor-wise, maybe some cream cheese or a different sauce would’ve helped. The tempura shrimp in the roll also felt a bit bland, but I did enjoy the crunch of the tempura flakes and presentation was definitely on point. Overall, it was an average experience, but with a few tweaks, the dishes could be much better!
