About House Of Yang

House Of Yang is a Chinese restaurant located at 13802 N Scottsdale Rd Suite 138, Scottsdale, AZ 85254, USA. As a local Chinese restaurant, House Of Yang offers a variety of Chinese dishes for takeout and potentially dine-in customers. They can be contacted at (480) 443-0188 or +1 480-443-0188.

Recent customer reviews for House Of Yang present a mixed picture. One reviewer found the restaurant dark, dated, and not very clean or welcoming, noting an order process at a counter behind a Covid glass. They described the lemon chicken as okay but with too much breading and bland sauce, though the portion size was adequate and the accompanying egg roll was delicious. This customer also mentioned small fountain sodas and no plates for dine-in orders.

More recent feedback from the same reviewer (dated August 26, 2024) reported a strong smell of sewage inside the restaurant, which they found unpleasant for dining in. Another experience on the same date involved a forgotten drink order and a manager who couldn't process a refund, instead offering a free drink with a future order. This customer also described the sweet and sour chicken and fried rice as tasting old, except for the fried rice, with the sweet and sour chicken having a "dirty sponge" smell, leading them to discard it. They recommended the Orange Chicken as a better option.

On a more positive note, one reviewer praised their in-house chili oil as amazing, savory, and aromatic with a garlic-like flavor. Another customer who compared House Of Yang to other local Chinese establishments found it to be reasonably priced for the area with fantastic portion sizes. On a previous visit, they described the restaurant as spotless with no smell of dirty oil, noting the aroma of sauces and the "charr" from cooking. They highly recommended the Orange Chicken dinner combo, which includes rice or noodles, an egg roll, a cream cheese ragoon, and possibly egg drop soup, considering it a good value. They also lauded the fried rice for its "clean charr flavor" and garlic scent, and found the Orange Chicken crunchy and flavorful, preferring it over versions from other restaurants. This reviewer did, however, reiterate the sewage smell issue from their later visit and mentioned a forgotten order as areas needing improvement.

In summary, House Of Yang offers affordable prices and generous portion sizes in a good location. The Orange Chicken and fried rice appear to be popular and well-received dishes, and their in-house chili oil is a notable feature. However, recent issues regarding the restaurant's environment (dark, dated, potential cleanliness concerns, sewage smell as of August 2024) and service (ordering process, forgotten items, refund issues) should be considered by local users. It may be wise to inquire about the current conditions and perhaps focus on takeout or specific recommended dishes like the Orange Chicken and fried rice.

This place came highly recommended. I was disappointed. The restaurant is dark, dated, and not the cleanest or most welcoming. Order at the counter to the employee behind the Covid glass. I ordered the lemon chicken and it was okay. Too much breading and the lemon sauce did not have much flavor. The portion size was more than adequate. The egg roll accompanying the meal was delicious and the major highlight of the meal. The lunch meal was about $12 with a very small fountain soda. No plates for dine-in orders.

UPDATE: I think they are having some plumbing issues because I walked in yesterday 08/26/2024, and it smelled like sewage. Gotta keep it real, it's not cool when dining in. This time around (08/26/24), I ordered a drink and they forgot it. I asked for a refund, and the manager does not know how to do it. So she said next time I will get the drink free with a new order. This experience made me want to go less. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, and it all tasted old except for the fried rice, like the smell of a dirty sponge, and so I threw it away. Do not get the sweet and sour chicken. Orange Chicken is your best bet. They have their own in house chili oil and it is amazing. Savory and aromatic like garlic. I've been to Ma and Pop Chinese Places, as well as the usual generic ones like Panda Express, Rice Garden, Dragon Garden, and Dragon Express. This place isnt the best I've had because of the dirty sponge taste from my last time here (08/26/24). It will move down a few tiers because this is the only place that has a dirty sponge taste to the food. The cost per portion is fantastic considering that this is located in the nice area of Scottsdale Arizona. You walk in, and the place was spotless: floors were very clean, and it did not smell like dirty oil. You can smell the sauces, as well as the charr when they are cooking your order. It does, however, currently as of 08/26/24, smell like sewage inside the restaurant. They need to get on that. The review below is from my first visit. Today, I ordered the Orange Chicken dinner combo, which comes with your choice of white or fried rice, OR low mein noodles. It comes with an egg roll and a cream cheese ragoon, and I believe some egg drop soup. With tax, this cost me around $13, and I also ordered 8 pot stickers, and total this meal cost me $22, which is very cheap for how much you get. (PHOTOS SHOWN). The fried rice was fire. It has this clean charr flavor from its cook, mixed with green onions, and has this intoxicating garlic scent that you do not need sauce with it. The orange chicken was crunchy, and not too saucy. It's drier than Dragon Garden's orange chicken, and less oily than Panda's. Just overall better. Flavor profile is predominantly garlic and something else I can't put my finger on. It's freaking delicious. It's a nice, cool place to beat the heat, and the food and service makes me feel at home. Ranking from best to worst in terms of cost, portion size and quality, the order goes: 1. Dragon Garden 2. House of Yang 3. Panda Express 4. Dragon Express They need to fix these things if they want me to come back: -fixing the smell of sewage problem inside the restaurant -forgetting simple orders Thank you for reading.

House of Yang was perfect for our quick lunch needs. A very sizeable portion of pretty solid Chinese food for a reasonable price and very kind (and fast) service. They even let me use their employee restroom when asked. We tried the tangerine beef and lemon chicken lunch combos - the chicken and lemon sauce were very good, the beef was a little salty and not a lot of citrus flavor but still tasty. The egg rolls were definitely the highlight of the meal. Food was ready in about 4-5 minutes from ordering and was quiet around 2pm when we arrived. Pretty small dining area that's dated, but let's be real - you typically get this food to-go anyway. Highly recommend when you need your hole-in-the-wall Chinese lunch special fix.

The food here is great and I just tried these wings that they recently added to the menu and I was astonished by how great they taste. I highly recommend this place to the people of Scottsdale who want a great meal.

Today I just had to have Chinese food and House of Yang hit the spot. They've been around for over 50 years and they're food doesn't disappoint. We enjoyed egg rolls, BBQ pork fried rice, wonton soup, sesame chicken. We're left completely satiated.
