About House Of Wong Restaurant

Situated at 477 Kapahulu Ave in Honolulu, HI 96815, USA, House Of Wong Restaurant operates as a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category. They can be contacted at (808) 732-0818 or via mobile at +1 808-732-0818 for inquiries or orders. Based on recent customer feedback available online, experiences at House Of Wong Restaurant appear to be somewhat mixed, with opinions varying on the quality and authenticity of the food.

One reviewer who found their experience "a little different" expressed a conflict in their overall impression. While acknowledging that the food was "good but not great" and appeared to be "adequately prepared" with "good flavor," a significant drawback was the gristly texture of the beef, which the reviewer attributed to a lower cut of meat. Despite this, they conceded that the food was better than what might be found at a chain restaurant, suggesting a level of quality above mass-produced fare.

Another pair of diners who visited House Of Wong Restaurant on a whim, without prior review, encountered a notably quiet interior. Despite the lack of other patrons, they proceeded to order several dishes, describing their meal as "definitely subpar Chinese-American food" but still "certainly an experience." Specific dishes received critical feedback. The hot sour soup was found to be neither sour nor particularly hot, deviating from the expected characteristics of this classic dish. The mango pudding was described as lacking any mango flavor (or any discernible taste) and possessing a concerning neon orange color. However, not all dishes were negatively received; the gongbao squid and almond tofu with canned lychee were mentioned as being "not bad." This reviewer suggested that House Of Wong might be best suited for takeout when craving comfort food, but also noted the abundance of other options on the island that might provide a more satisfying experience.

Based on these reviews, it is challenging to definitively characterize the environment of House Of Wong Restaurant. One review mentions a "dead empty inside," which might suggest a lack of ambiance or possibly a quiet dining atmosphere at the time of their visit. However, this could also be an isolated occurrence and not representative of the typical environment. The other review does not provide specific details about the restaurant's interior or overall setting.

In terms of services, House Of Wong Restaurant appears to primarily cater to dine-in and potentially takeout customers. The mention of a couple dining inside indicates that they offer table service. The suggestion that it might be "best as takeout for a comfort food craving" implies that they also provide takeout services. However, the limited information does not offer insights into the efficiency of their service, the attentiveness of staff, or any additional services they might provide.

The features of House Of Wong Restaurant, as gleaned from the reviews, include a menu that leans towards Chinese-American cuisine. Some specific dishes mentioned are: beef dishes (which may sometimes feature lower quality cuts of meat), hot sour soup (which may not meet traditional expectations), mango pudding (which may lack authentic flavor and have an artificial appearance), gongbao squid, and almond tofu with canned lychee. The presence of both hits and misses in the dishes sampled suggests a potential inconsistency in the quality or preparation of their menu items.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals at House Of Wong Restaurant. The provided reviews focus solely on the food quality and dining experience, without mentioning any discounts, special menus, or ongoing promotions. To inquire about any potential promotions, customers would need to contact the restaurant directly via phone.

In conclusion, House Of Wong Restaurant on Kapahulu Avenue in Honolulu presents a mixed bag of experiences for its customers. While one reviewer found the food to be decent, albeit with some quality issues in the ingredients, another described their meal as subpar Chinese-American fare with significant shortcomings in the flavor and presentation of certain dishes. The restaurant appears to offer both dine-in and takeout services. Potential customers might want to weigh these contrasting opinions and possibly consider specific dishes that have received more positive feedback if they choose to try House Of Wong Restaurant. Given the limited and somewhat critical nature of the available reviews, it would be prudent to approach this dining option with tempered expectations.

This is a little different for me since I am conflicted. The food was good but not great. It appeared to be adequately prepared, and the flavor was good, but the beef was gristley, which shows a lower cut of meat. I will say this is better food than what you get at a chain restaurant.

My partner and I came in on a complete whim just to try without looking at any reviews beforehand, and it was dead empty inside, but we still felt like being adventurous and ordered a few things. Was definitely subpar Chinese-American food, but it was certainly an experience. The hot sour soup was not sour at all and not really hot either 😂 the mango pudding didn't taste whatsoever of mango (or anything for that matter) and was a concerning neon shade of orange. Some things were not bad- the gongbao squid and almond tofu with canned lychee for example. Maybe best as takeout for a comfort food craving, but there's choke options on island that will likely satisfy better!

The food disappointed me. We were almost about to leave and not to pay for it, it was so bad. We had orange chicken and as far as I don’t like chains, Panda has way better food, also hor&sour soup was not good at all. Find another place.

Arrived on a Monday afternoon to an empty restaurant 🤨 Mostly takeout orders though halfway through our lunch another couple arrived. Ordered the Beef chow fun with soy sauce, and House special crispy noodle. Both each came with a bowl of corn soup. All the food had too much salt.
