About House of Good Fortune
House of Good Fortune, located at 15992 SW Tualatin-Sherwood Rd in Sherwood, Oregon, operates as a Chinese restaurant offering both dine-in and takeout services. Recent customer reviews present a somewhat conflicting view of the establishment, with praise for the food quality being countered by concerns regarding service and value.
One customer who dined in noted that while the food was "amazing as always," there were significant issues with the service provided. Their party did not receive their food at the same time, and they experienced a lack of attentiveness from the staff, specifically mentioning the absence of water refills and check-ins. This issue appeared to be a shared experience among other diners present, as the reviewer overheard other customers also "loudly proclaimed" similar service shortcomings. Interestingly, this lack of service occurred despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, with only four to five tables occupied at the time.
Another customer who opted for takeout had a mixed experience with the food quality. They described the lady working as "super nice," indicating a positive interaction with at least one staff member. However, the food itself was less satisfying. The fried rice was rated as "good," and the chow mein as "great," suggesting that some dishes are well-prepared. In contrast, the beef and broccoli were severely criticized, with the reviewer stating it "tasted like dog food," implying the meat was either old or had been microwaved improperly. Similarly, the BBQ pork was also described as tasting "off," with the reviewer suspecting it might have been microwaved or was stale. The cashew chicken was another dish that did not meet expectations. It was prepared with a brown sauce, which the reviewer found acceptable in taste, but the texture of the chicken was "rubbery." The reviewer noted that they prefer cashew chicken with a clear sauce and celery, acknowledging that the difference in preparation style was not necessarily the restaurant's fault but indicated a lack of awareness of menu variations.
Beyond the food quality issues, the takeout customer also expressed strong concerns about the pricing, stating that they felt it was "extremely over priced." A combination dinner cost $19, and despite ordering two, they only received one soup. The reviewer pointed out that at most other Chinese restaurants, a combination dinner is typically sufficient to feed two people. However, at House of Good Fortune, it consisted of just one plate with what were perceived as "small portions of each" item. This feedback suggests a potential issue with the value proposition offered by the restaurant, particularly regarding their combination meals.
Considering these two reviews, a few key themes emerge regarding House of Good Fortune. Firstly, the quality of the food appears to be inconsistent. While some dishes like fried rice and chow mein received positive feedback, others, such as beef and broccoli and BBQ pork, were described as being of poor quality, potentially due to issues with freshness or reheating. The cashew chicken also did not meet one customer's preference in terms of sauce and texture.
Secondly, the service seems to be a significant area of concern, particularly for dine-in customers. The lack of attentiveness, even when the restaurant is not busy, as highlighted by one reviewer and corroborated by overhearing other customers, suggests a potential systemic issue with service standards. While one takeout customer praised the friendliness of the staff member they interacted with, this positive interaction did not extend to the quality of the food received.
Thirdly, the pricing and portion sizes, especially for the combination dinners, appear to be a point of contention. One customer felt that the meals were overpriced for the amount of food provided, particularly when compared to other Chinese restaurants. The fact that two combination dinners only included one soup further contributed to the perception of poor value.
Without additional reviews or information, it is difficult to ascertain details about the restaurant's environment or any specific features that might set it apart. The available feedback focuses primarily on the food and service aspects of the customer experience.
In conclusion, House of Good Fortune in Sherwood, Oregon, presents a mixed bag for potential customers. While some patrons have found the food to be "amazing," there are significant concerns raised by other reviewers regarding the quality of certain dishes, inconsistencies in food preparation, inattentive dine-in service, and what is perceived as high pricing for small portion sizes, particularly with combination meals. Local users considering dining at or ordering from House of Good Fortune should be aware of these recent experiences and might want to inquire about the freshness and preparation methods of specific dishes before placing their orders.

Customer Reviews
While the food was amazing as always, we did not get our food at the same time also we did not get any water refills or her checking in on us. Other customers also loudly proclaimed this while we were here. On the way out we looked around and there was only four to five tables seated.
I ordered take out, and while the lady working was super nice, the food left much to be desired. The fried rice was good, the chow mein was great. The beef and broccoli tasted like dog food, like the meat was old or microwaved. The BBQ pork also tasted off, like it had been microwaved or old or something. The cashew chicken had a brown sauce, it tasted ok but the texture was rubbery. I prefer the cashew chicken with celery in the clear type sauce, I didn't know there were different types so that's not their fault. Lastly, I felt it was extremely over priced. The combination dinner was $19, we got two but only got 1 soup. Most Chinese restaurants a combination will feed 2, but here it was just one plate with small portions of each.
I really love the food and service at House of Good Fortune in the Sherwood Market Center. Check ahead for dining options. It has been takeout and delivery only. The times I had dined in, from beginning to end I had the friendliest and most gracious service and attention. And the food is hot, fresh, and delicious! The portions are super-generous and they have some of the best Chicken Fried Rice.
Food is okay not great! It’s family owned and operated which I support over chain restaurants. They use to have a location in Murrayhill which was better. I recommend this place if you like to a good family environment dinner like. The servers are hit and miss but overall bland Asian food which is commercialized. Only got because my boyfriend likes that place and he’s white.
Probably the worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Very salty. Just not good at all. Kung Pao Chicken had no vegetables, fried rice was the color of Mac and cheese. Save your money!!
