About House of Chen

Welcome to House of Chen, a Chinese restaurant situated at 9751 St Charles Rock Rd, St. Louis, MO 63114, USA. As a local establishment within the Chinese restaurant category, House of Chen aims to provide a variety of Asian-inspired dishes to the community. While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance are not extensively covered in the provided reviews, we can gather insights into its food, service, and unique characteristics based on customer feedback.

Regarding the environment of House of Chen, the provided reviews do not offer specific descriptions of the interior or overall atmosphere. Therefore, local users interested in dining in at House of Chen may want to consider visiting the location to get a direct sense of the ambiance. Typically, Chinese restaurants strive to create a comfortable and welcoming setting for their guests to enjoy their meals. Further information about the dining environment would require additional reviews or direct contact with the restaurant.

The service at House of Chen appears to have experienced some changes, according to a recent update in the reviews. One customer initially reported "great food, great service!" However, a subsequent update from the same reviewer, mentioning "new mgt," expressed a decline in quality. This suggests that the service experience might be variable depending on the current management and staff. While there was a positive initial experience noted, the more recent feedback indicates potential inconsistencies. It's worth noting that the restaurant's payment policy has changed, as it is "no longer cash only," which could be a positive development for customer convenience.

The features of House of Chen, based on the limited reviews, offer a mixed perspective. One customer found the food to be "OK" and even "very good," specifically mentioning their intention to return despite an issue with the portion size of the pork fried rice. This customer expressed a preference for rice to be served in boxes, indicating a more traditional expectation. However, they still valued the taste of the food. In contrast, the updated review under new management raises concerns about the quality of some dishes. The potstickers were described as "oily," the Mongolian beef as "darker," and the house beef flavor as "flat," leading to disappointment from a previously loyal customer who considered it their "favorite Chinese food." This highlights a potential shift in the quality of their signature dishes. It is important for potential customers to be aware of these differing recent experiences.

Currently, the provided information does not include any specific promotional details for House of Chen. Local users interested in any special offers, lunch deals, or other promotions are advised to contact the restaurant directly at (314) 423-5443 or +1 314-423-5443. In conclusion, House of Chen in St. Louis presents a somewhat uncertain picture based on recent customer reviews. While there was a past positive experience regarding food and service, more recent feedback under new management indicates a potential decline in food quality. The restaurant does offer takeout and dine-in options, and it no longer operates on a cash-only basis, which is a notable change. For local users considering House of Chen, it may be prudent to weigh the differing opinions in the reviews and perhaps try it for themselves to form a personal judgment. The food was OK. I kind of felt that I got ripped when I ordered a whole order of pork fried rice. It came to a little bitty small plastic container. I was very upset with that because a couple weeks prior I ordered a half order of fried rice and it pretty much came in the same plastic container. I like my rice to come in boxes like old-fashioned way. But the food was very good though I still come back

Update with new mgt- (have had 3x now). Not great! The potstickers are oily. The Mongolian beef is darker, the house beef flavor is flat. Its a shame. It was my favorite Chinese food. My whole family misses Jimmy!!!! No longer cash only. Great food, great service! Dont forget it's cash only!

✨Homey Humble Heavenly✨ My girl told me about this place and on our next girls day, we were outside! It’s a bit dated, but that’s not why we’re here. 3/5 tables were full from the lunchtime crowd. Smells were amazing. 💵 (temporarily) CASH ONLY💵 We ordered House Special St. Paul, Wonton Soup, and Egg Rolls. 🔥🔥🔥 I literally ate this food the fastest I’ve ever eaten in my life. PERIODT! The shell of the patty was slightly crispy, light in color and seasoned so well. It was piping hot and full of all the meats. The egg roll was juicy and delicious too. This was my first time trying wonton soup and I’m definitely impressed. Light, mild flavor with broccoli, mushrooms, pork strips and wontons. So so good. This is my new spot!

This place use to be the best hole in the wall you could ask for .. now that the manager went back to China!! And handed this business over to the next generation!!! Ohh WOW!!! It's so bad now from charging people extra money... To stealing from the people!! If one ran the numbers all day long and see what people actually paid they would be shocked!! Because they don't add up!!! Now I went in for the last time I bought 4 egg rolls one small hot and sour soup and 3 crab rangoon because I was robbed 3 so they say 6 to a order but only got 3 they told me to bring back the food😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣what!!! I tried eating what I can because I paided 19.00 dollar's for 2.32 for 2 egg rolls and I bought 4 so another 2.32🧐 so 4.64 roughly!!! 3 crab rangoon.. for 3.72 for 3!!! did not get the 6 like it says on website!!! 🧐 So rant is done I will not be back I don't like being ripped off and with their new Indian helper!!! She is on board of ripping people off ..!! It's a shame because this place used to be one of the best around bernal agreed took over and not caring!! They went from full size box price.. what they've always used.. to plastic half the size!!! A shame!!! 🧐 If I'm wrong prove me wrong!!!! But this is what I see and this is what I experienced over the years so you tell me!!! 🧐 They think USA people are dumb we see w just pray you change your ways!!! I'm done get it right!!! Sad!! And laziness!!!

Something has happened and not for the best. The food used to be the best in STL, but since August of this year the quality is not what it used to be. St Paul special sandwich was over cooked, crab Rangoon used to be creamy, but was over cooked and dry and tasted stale. The egg rolls were overcooked and hard. They woud up in the trash after 1 bite. Please bring back the quality of food that Jimmy always prided himself in delivering to all of his customers. We used to be regular customers, but not until things improve.
