About House of Chen
Welcome to House of Chen, a Chinese restaurant situated at 101 Brandt Dr in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania (zip code 16066). As a Chinese restaurant serving the Cranberry Twp community, House of Chen offers a diverse menu catering to a wide range of tastes, including traditional Chinese dishes and even some unexpected options. You can contact them at (724) 776-6760 or their mobile number +1 724-776-6760 for reservations or takeout orders.
Based on the available customer reviews, House of Chen presents a mixed picture of dining experiences. On one hand, several reviewers have highlighted positive aspects such as the quality of the food, the variety of options available, and the generous serving portions. One customer described it as "a great place to go for a relaxing lunch," complementing the "great food." This suggests that House of Chen can provide a pleasant atmosphere for those looking to enjoy a midday meal.
Another notable feature of House of Chen, according to a reviewer, is the "quite a variety of food" available, including a significant number of vegan options. In today's diverse culinary landscape, offering ample vegan choices can be a significant draw for customers with plant-based diets or those seeking meat-free meals. This suggests that House of Chen is mindful of catering to different dietary preferences and is not solely focused on traditional meat and seafood dishes.
Further positive feedback includes a simple yet strong endorsement: "You won't be disappointed here." This concise statement implies a general satisfaction with the overall experience at House of Chen, suggesting that many customers find the food and ambiance to be pleasing. Another reviewer praised the "serving portions" as "great," along with the "quality ingredients and a wonderful flavor profile." This indicates that House of Chen focuses on providing substantial meals made with good quality ingredients, resulting in flavorful dishes that customers appreciate.
Interestingly, House of Chen also offers an unexpected item for a Chinese restaurant: wings. One reviewer humorously pointed out, "Don't like Asian food but your family does? Get the wings! Yep." This unique offering suggests that House of Chen aims to be inclusive and cater to individuals with different culinary preferences within a group dining together. It could be a strategic way to accommodate families or groups where not everyone enjoys Asian cuisine. The reviewer concluded that "This place is a complete package for everyone," highlighting this diverse appeal.
However, it is crucial to address a significant negative experience reported by one customer regarding the service at House of Chen. This reviewer recounted a deeply unsatisfactory encounter during their second visit to the restaurant, noting that their first experience also involved bad service. On this particular occasion, they described a waitress who allegedly threw water on the table while serving, showed a lack of care, and served a child's juice in a glass that was not full. Furthermore, when the customer requested new cutlery due to the provided ones being dirty, the waitress purportedly did not listen properly and returned with another cup, placing it on the table in a dismissive manner. The reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with this treatment, stating that even an animal deserves better service. They ultimately had to request a different waitress and emphasized their expectation of paying for good service, not free food.
This detailed negative review regarding the service raises a serious concern about the consistency and quality of customer service at House of Chen. While other aspects like food quality, variety, and portion sizes have received positive feedback, a negative service experience can significantly impact the overall dining satisfaction. It is important for potential customers to be aware of this reported issue. The fact that this was the reviewer's second negative experience with the same waitress suggests a potential systemic problem that the management of House of Chen may need to address to ensure a more consistent and positive experience for all diners.
As a Chinese restaurant within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, House of Chen likely offers a standard menu of Chinese cuisine, which typically includes a variety of appetizers, soups, rice and noodle dishes, and main entrees featuring different preparations of meat, poultry, seafood, and vegetables. The mention of "tons of vegan options" as a feature sets House of Chen apart from some traditional Chinese restaurants and indicates a broader culinary approach. The unexpected addition of wings further highlights their willingness to cater to a wider audience.
In considering House of Chen, potential customers should weigh the positive feedback regarding food quality, variety (including vegan options), and portion sizes against the serious concern raised about the poor service experienced by at least one reviewer on multiple occasions. If you prioritize a diverse menu with options for various dietary preferences and are willing to potentially overlook inconsistent service, House of Chen might be worth a visit, especially for their food. However, if attentive and courteous service is a top priority, it might be prudent to consider this negative feedback. It could also be beneficial to see if more recent reviews provide further insights into the current service standards at the restaurant.
In conclusion, House of Chen in Cranberry Twp, PA, offers a Chinese dining experience with a diverse menu that includes a significant number of vegan options and even non-traditional items like wings. Customers have generally praised the food quality, the variety of dishes available, and the generous serving portions. However, there is a notable concern regarding the quality of customer service, with at least one reviewer reporting multiple negative experiences. Potential patrons should be aware of both the positive aspects of the food and menu variety, as well as the reported issues with service, when making their decision to dine at or order from House of Chen.

Customer Reviews
Food is ok but service is horrible. This is our second time here. First time service was bad but we thought will be a one off and food was ok so we thought maybe this time will be better. So we decided to give it another chance. This time same waitress as last time, she throw the water on the table when serving water and didn’t care. Bring my daughter juice and was not filled. Asked for new cutlery because their were dirty, didn’t stay long enough to understand what I asked and she came with another cup and throw a table like if you’re serving a dog. I mean even an animal should deserve better treatment. Not idea what is going on with this person but I’m sorry for her. We have to ask for a different waitress. I mean and paying for good service. I’m not asking for free food.
A great place to go for a relaxing lunch, not to mention the great food. There's quite a variety of food and tons of vegan options, which I'm partial to. You won't be disappointed here Serving portions are great, quality ingredients and a wonderful flavor profile. Don't like Asian food but your family does? Get the wings! Yep. This place is a complete package for everyone.
Ordered Shrimp fried rice (Dry Af & Sent my husband STR8 to the toilet) & Szechuan Beef (it was Greasy & Had NO BEEF just Carrots & Onions) BUYER BEWARE $40 down the drain. SCAM LIKELY DO NOT RECOMMEND‼️
Man, this place has some fantastic food. Normally we get takeout (fantastic as well) but especially dining in, they have by farrrr, the best lo mein and general Tsos chicken my fiancé and I have ever had. The noodles are so garlicky and flavorful, and the chicken has a nice, crispy coating that melds so nicely with the sauce. Not to mention they load you up on the sauce! The Thai iced tea is so delicious too and a perfect amount of sweet without seeming too thick to enjoy. We enjoyed our meal and our waitress was also really sweet. Such a great Chinese place in cranberry! Ps. Jesus loves you :)
Look.. the dishes they have are some of the same anywhere else.. your "basic" dishes.. but I have never tasted these dishes like these.. you can definitely tell that fresh ingredients are used. For example the noodles tasted like actual fresh garlic goodness. The pictures here are AFTER we finished eating, the service was amazing ..we WILL be back.
