House of Chang

Growing up eating my mother's Chinese food I am picky when it comes to eating out for a Chinese food. Here you get authentic Chinese food in a small neighborhood restaurant. Bright outdoor light gives it an open feeling, and a simple but sophisticated decor that isn't too busy makes it a calm space. Our favorites are the beef pulled noodle soup (the beef is the real deal, you can taste the five spice), yu xiang eggplant, and ma po tofu. The lunch specials are a good deal with soup (excellent hot and sour soup chock full of vegetables including tiger lily), choice of appetizer and white or brown rice. Friendly service. Many locals come here. The restaurant has been here for years and years. After you visit you will know why.

Their beef knife cut noodles (刀削面) are delicious. All the food is extremely authentic and made with care. The owner is extremely nice also, highly recommend!!!

I always love eating at House of Chang. Service is stellar, quick, and food is reasonably priced (especially given their large portions!). Their Tang Su chicken is a standout, and the restaurant offers a number of traditional Chinese options that you won't get anywhere else. Truly delicious and couldn't recommend them more. One note: you should specify if you want American Chinese or traditional chinese--the traditional Chinese is delicious and I recommend branching into that side of the menu!

Absolutely delicious food, very efficient and friendly service, and an overall excellent dining experience. Cozy, quiet and everything we ordered surpassed expectations! Highly recommend the Kung Pao chicken and lo mein, as well as the scallion pancakes with a special homemade ginger sauce, and the Peking dumplings.

So disappointed by our experience. We were excited to try House or Chang, especially since they have gluten free options. Unfortunately, nothing was edible. The sesame chicken was so over cooked it was harder than jerky, the Jung pao tofu tasted like the chef accidentally dumped an entire jar of salt, and the fried rice was white rice no flavor. When we called to inquire what happened they said “sorry we were busy”. They then agreed to a full refund, but today we noticed on our CC statement they only refunded $30 of the nearly $100 we spent
