About Hot Wok

Hot Wok is a Chinese restaurant located at 1020 E Main St M in Purcellville, Virginia. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, Hot Wok provides Chinese cuisine options primarily for take-out. Customers can place orders or make inquiries by calling (540) 751-1688 or using the mobile number +1 540-751-1688. Recent online customer reviews indicate potential concerns regarding their pricing practices, customer service, and a perceived decline in food quality.

One customer reported a highly negative experience, giving Hot Wok an overall rating of "0 Star." This customer placed a take-out order during the lunch hours, which were clearly stated on the menu as being between 11 AM and 3 PM. They noted that Hot Wok does not provide an itemized receipt with a breakdown of charges. It was only after they had paid and left the premises that they realized they had been charged dinner pricing for their order. Upon calling the restaurant to address this discrepancy, mentioning that they had ordered within the specified lunch timeframe, the customer reported being met with hostile behavior. According to the review, the staff member yelled at them and stated, "I don’t care; you didn’t specify." The reviewer expressed significant disappointment with this lack of customer concern and stated that they would not be a returning customer due to this negative interaction.

Another customer indicated that their recent experience suggested a decline in the quality and service at Hot Wok, stating, "This place has changed. Always has been dead on but tonight not so much." This implies that the restaurant may have had a better reputation in the past, but recent standards have not been met. Specific issues mentioned by this reviewer included the absence of common condiments such as mustard and duck sauce with the egg rolls, and the lack of fortune cookies, which are often expected with Chinese take-out orders. Furthermore, they described the General Tso chicken as being a "big glob," suggesting a lack of care in its preparation or an undesirable texture. The pancakes served with the Moo Shi pork were also criticized for not being the same as before, described as "thin and blah," indicating a potential change in recipe or quality of ingredients. While the reviewer acknowledged these as "little things," they collectively contributed to a disappointing experience compared to previous visits. The reviewer expressed hope that Hot Wok would not deteriorate further.

The provided reviews do not offer any information regarding the environment or ambiance of Hot Wok. Both reviewers described take-out experiences, so there is no feedback available about the interior of the restaurant or any potential dine-in facilities. Therefore, it is not possible to provide an objective description of the restaurant's atmosphere or décor based on the available information.

In terms of services, Hot Wok primarily offers take-out. One customer's experience highlighted a lack of transparency in pricing with the absence of an itemized receipt, and a failure to honor lunch pricing despite the order being placed within the stated lunch hours. The customer service response to this issue was reported as being confrontational and unhelpful. The other reviewer's experience suggests potential inconsistencies in the completeness of take-out orders (missing condiments and fortune cookies) and a decline in food preparation quality. These reviews collectively paint a picture of potential issues with both pricing accuracy and customer service.

The features of Hot Wok, based on these reviews, are limited and mostly negative. A potential past feature might have been consistent food quality, but a recent review suggests this may no longer be the case. The lack of itemized receipts and the apparent disregard for clearly stated lunch hour pricing are notable negative features. The inconsistency in including standard items like condiments and fortune cookies in take-out orders is another point of concern. The preparation of the General Tso chicken as a "big glob" and the altered quality of the Moo Shi pork pancakes indicate a potential decline in food quality and attention to detail.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any specific promotional offers, discounts, or featured menu items at Hot Wok. The recent reviews focus solely on negative aspects of pricing, customer service, and food quality. Therefore, no objective introduction to any ongoing specials or promotions can be provided based on the given information.

In conclusion, recent customer feedback for Hot Wok in Purcellville, VA, raises significant concerns regarding their pricing practices, customer service, and a perceived decline in food quality and attention to detail in take-out orders. One customer reported being overcharged and met with rude staff when attempting to resolve the issue, while another noted missing standard items and a deterioration in the quality of certain dishes compared to past experiences. Potential local customers may want to consider these recent negative reviews when deciding whether to order from Hot Wok.

0 Star Overall! I placed my take out order during the lunch hours, between 11am - 3pm, clearly stated on their menu. They do not give an itemized receipt with a breakdown of charges and it wasn’t until after I’d left and paid, I realized I was charged dinner pricing. I called the restaurant and mentioned I ordered during lunch time frame but was charged dinner pricing. The staff started yelling at me and said, “I don’t care; you didn’t specify”. Really disappointing at lack of customer concern and certainly will not be a returning customer.

This place has changed. Always has been dead on but tonight not so much. No mustard or duck sauce with the egg rolls, no fortune cookies, the General Tso chicken was a big glob, the pancakes for Moo Shi pork were not the same as before, thin and blah, little things but not what I expected from previous visits. I hope they don't turn into Pens.
