About HOT WOK Chinese

Welcome to HOT WOK Chinese, a restaurant situated at 5943 Weddington Rd in Wesley Chapel, North Carolina. As a local establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, HOT WOK Chinese offers a range of Asian-inspired dishes to the community. They can be contacted at (704) 821-8899 or their mobile number +1 704-821-8899 for inquiries or to place an order.

Based on the available online reviews, it appears that while customers have generally found the staff at HOT WOK Chinese to be pleasant, there are significant concerns regarding the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. One reviewer explicitly stated that "the food is NOT GOOD WHATSOEVER." They detailed their experience with the sesame chicken and cheese wontons, noting that the chicken was "very dry" and the wontons were "stale, tough and greasy," suggesting they were not freshly prepared. This reviewer also mentioned that the sauce was "very watered down" and expressed disappointment in receiving subpar food after paying for it, stating they would not return.

Another customer echoed the sentiment about the friendly staff but found both the food and the atmosphere to be "lacking." They specifically commented on the crab rangoon, noting its poor appearance and lack of flavor in the filling. The wonton soup was also criticized, with the noodles described as "undercooked" and the filling unexpectedly containing a "beef/broccoli type beef filling." While this reviewer found the vegetables to be good, they concluded that the overall cost was too high for the poor quality of the crab rangoon and wonton soup. Despite initially hoping for a better experience and appreciating the employees' friendliness, they were ultimately disappointed. This customer also observed that "the inside could really use some TLC and be tidied because it's a bit of a mess," indicating issues with the cleanliness and upkeep of the restaurant's interior.

The consistent feedback regarding the friendly nature of the staff suggests that HOT WOK Chinese may prioritize customer service in their interactions. However, this positive aspect seems to be overshadowed by the significant criticisms of the food quality and the state of the restaurant's interior. The issues raised about the freshness and preparation of dishes like sesame chicken and cheese wontons, as well as the flavor and ingredients of items like crab rangoon and wonton soup, point to potential problems in the kitchen. Furthermore, the observation about the messy interior indicates a need for improvement in the restaurant's environment for dine-in customers.

Considering these reviews, it is evident that while the staff may be welcoming, the overall experience at HOT WOK Chinese is being negatively impacted by the perceived low quality of the food and an unappealing atmosphere. Customers have expressed concerns about the freshness of fried items, the flavor profiles of various dishes, and even the unexpected ingredients in standard menu items like wonton soup. The cleanliness and tidiness of the interior have also been highlighted as areas needing attention.

There is no information available in these reviews regarding any specific features of HOT WOK Chinese, such as unique menu items that have been positively received, or any promotional information like lunch specials or discounts. The feedback is predominantly focused on the negative aspects of the food and environment.

In summary, while the staff at HOT WOK Chinese in Wesley Chapel, NC, are reported to be nice, the restaurant has received significant criticism regarding the quality of its food, with specific complaints about dry sesame chicken, stale and greasy wontons, poorly flavored crab rangoon, and unsatisfactory wonton soup. The atmosphere of the restaurant has also been described as "lacking," with one reviewer noting that the interior is messy and in need of improvement. Potential customers should weigh these concerns heavily when considering dining at or ordering from HOT WOK Chinese. If food quality and a pleasant dining environment are priorities, the current feedback suggests that HOT WOK Chinese may not meet these expectations. There is no information available to suggest any current promotions or unique offerings that might outweigh these reported issues. You can contact HOT WOK Chinese at (704) 821-8899 or +1 704-821-8899 for more information, but it is advisable to consider the recent customer experiences shared online.

People are nice, but the food is NOT GOOD WHATSOEVER. My husband picked up sesame chicken with an order of cheese wontons: the chicken was very dry, and the wontons were stale, tough and greasy, like they had been made hours earlier and just popped in the fryer to reheat. Sauce is very watered down..SO SAD they take your money, then reward you with stale, sub-par food..Nope, I won't be back here.

The people are nice but the food and atmosphere is lacking. The crab rangoon was lacking in looks but mostly taste of the filling. The wonton soup noodles seemed undercooked and the filling was beef/broccoli type beef filling which wasn't expected. The vegetables were good but overall it costs too much for poor quality on the first two items mentioned. I wish it was different because I was rooting for this place despite the reviews and after meeting the nice employees. Also, the inside could really use some TLC and be tidied because it's a bit of a mess. Sorry but hope things get better.

Hard to find any good food in NC. Ordered a simple vegetarian meal. The rice was stale, the sauce was just a sauce. I've had more reliable Chinese food in Florida and of course, NY.

Thus little mom and pop authentic Chinese place is perfect and has big portions. Open even on days like Christmas eve. They hustle and they are so nice and respectful. Truly thankfully for a hidden gem.

We love Chinese food, but this was a horrible meal. I ordered the sesame chicken combination and that comes with fried rice and an egg roll. The rice is bland and dyed yellow (???) and the chicken is in very teeny tiny chicken pieces, breaded, and fried and coated in a sugar sauce…which was dyed. They sprinkled sesame seeds on top though, so technically it’s sesame chicken. The egg roll literally had some pieces of cabbage, also dyed (pink this time), and nothing else. They are charging the same price as other Chinese restaurants that are actually good. One of our favorites is Amazing Wok and The Wok.
