About Hot Pot Delight

Hot Pot Delight, located at 859 E Nerge Rd, Roselle, IL 60172, USA, is a Chinese restaurant specializing in a buffet-style hot pot experience. Based on recent online reviews, the restaurant has undergone some changes that have affected customer experiences.

Previously a highly recommended hot pot spot with an "all you can eat" format for a fixed price (around $27 per person, excluding drinks), Hot Pot Delight used to offer unlimited meat, vegetables, and soup mix. Popular choices included thinly sliced marbled beef, mussels, shrimp, fish and shrimp balls, quail eggs, napa cabbage, and bok choy. Customers also enjoyed appetizers like cucumber salad and fried buns, and the option to customize their sauces with ingredients such as garlic, soy sauce, chili, and chives. The restaurant was noted to be less busy during lunch hours.

However, more recent feedback indicates significant changes. A new policy has been implemented, limiting dining time to 90 minutes. The buffet-style self-service raises concerns about the freshness of the ingredients, as it's unclear how long the food has been sitting out. Additionally, many appetizers now incur extra charges, and some customers have reported unfriendly staff.

One recent negative experience involved a server refusing to serve soup and start the buffet until the entire party arrived, leading to a significant wait despite the restaurant not being crowded. This occurred before the 90-minute time limit was even initiated.

It's important to note that gratuity is automatically added to groups of four or more, so customers should check their receipts to avoid double tipping. The price is mentioned as $27.99 per person before drinks, potentially totaling around $36 per person with beverages.

The shift to a stricter 90-minute dining limit, buffet-style self-service with potential freshness concerns, new charges for appetizers, and reports of unfriendly staff have led some previous loyal customers to express disappointment and a reluctance to return. While it operates as a buffet, there is mention of a full menu being displayed, which some customers found misleading if the buffet is the only option. For those considering visiting, it's advisable to be aware of these recent changes in policy and customer experiences. For inquiries, you can contact them at (630) 283-3389 or +1 630-283-3389. UPDATE: 12/24 Totally disappointed! So, I am changing the stars to 2/5. Overall experience went down. New and stricter policy: Only 90 minutes to eat in the restaurant, buffet style self service (making the veggies and meat unlikely fresh- I don’t know how long it has been sitting there), new charges for most of the appetizers, and unfriendly staff. What was sad of this visit is the server refusing to serve us our soup and to start our buffet because he wants us to wait for all our friends to arrive. The restaurant was not even half full and we were super hungry. We waited for about 40-45 minutes before we politely asked to be served and start the 90-minute rule. They add gratuity to group of 4 and more. Make sure to check your receipt. It’s still $27.99 without drinks so about $36 total per person. I don’t think I will go back again. Need to find another hotpot place. *********My number 1 hot pot spot! I have been here several times and my friends and I still keep going there! It is usually empty at noon/lunch and you basically have the place yourself. It gets busier in the late afternoon to around 7 PM. It is around $27 per person but comes with unlimited meat, veggies, and soup mix. ALL YOU CAN EAT! You have to pay for the drinks. We usually get the best of both worlds soup and it is a mixture of the original and spicy soup. I love to add their thinly sliced marbled beef, mussels, shrimps (fresh!), fish and shrimp balls, quail eggs, napa cabbage, and bokchoy! I also never forget to order the amazing cucumber salad and the delicious fried bun. We mix our sauce the way the like it and usually consist of garlic, soysauce, chili, and chives. I would surely recommend this place.

It’s only a buffet style but they show full menu I don’t think you should be forced to eat buffet if that wasn’t your choice plus when you see your receipt there is a gratuity already added to the meal so please don’t tip twice! No one was in there we came when it first opened so everything was fresh. The service was ok but I won’t be back

I cannot and will not recommend this place. We barely saw our original server, and when we kept calling one, they would keep walking, pretending they didn't hear us. The 15% tip was already built in the bill for my little family of 3 (my 6 yo daughter in the mix, 2 adults). Auto gratuity is for 6 people or more. TIPS ARE VOLUNTARY!!! Of course I would have happily tipped even with the least minimal effort given service is no easy tending, but there was none of that here! This later dawned on us for their horrible, non attentive service of why the tip was added involuntarily! No way they were giving you any of their time and day. Mind you, they are already way overpriced for what they offer (nothing special)! Don't waste a nice night out with your family here.

All the ingredients were very fresh and the hotpot was tasty. The staff were very nice and laid back, as was the atmosphere. We thought the all you can eat menu was an excellent value. There's nothing super crazy here, just a well executed hot pot.

They add a 15% tip for “2 or more people”. We were wondering why our cards were charged so much! This came after very minimal effort. After we had finished our food, the waitress made us feel horrible that we didn’t eat all of our food. Would not recommend for ok food, no communication and sneaky charging.
