About Hop Woo BBQ & Seafood Restaurant (Chinatown)

Welcome to Hop Woo BBQ & Seafood Restaurant, your local Chinese Restaurant in the heart of Chinatown, Los Angeles. We offer a delicious selection of a la carte Chinese food, specializing in flavorful BBQ and fresh seafood dishes.

One customer who ordered through Uber Eats noted that prices may be higher on the delivery platform compared to dining in. However, they found the overall flavor and quality of the food to be good, rating it as about average compared to other Chinese restaurants they've tried, which they considered satisfactory.

Their family of seven enjoyed a variety of our dishes, including chicken corn soup, basked fish, walnut shrimp, vegetable egg rolls, Mongolian beef, stir-fry vegetables, fried rice, orange peel chicken, house special chow mein crispy noodle, and fried tofu with white rice. They reported that everyone was satisfied and well-fed, with the fried tofu and walnut shrimp being particular favorites. The flavors were well-received, and the quality was deemed decent, making it a good choice for a family meal.

This customer mentioned they would likely order from us again or try dining in to get a better sense of our full offerings and potentially better pricing. They expressed interest in trying other menu items in person in the future.

Another reviewer who experienced our dine-in service described our food as delicious a la carte Chinese cuisine. They highlighted the enthusiastic greeting from our staff and praised the delicious duck and consistently delicious vegetables. However, they did mention a concern about the cleanliness of the dish washer, noting that the cups appeared dingy.

Despite this cleanliness concern, Hop Woo BBQ & Seafood Restaurant is known for its tasty food and welcoming service. Whether you're looking to enjoy our BBQ and seafood specialties via takeout or prefer to dine in at our Chinatown location at 845 N Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012, we are ready to serve you. It should be noted that my review is based off of an Uber eats review. First off the prices are more expensive on Uber eats as compared to just dining in so that played a part in my review. Overall I thought the flavor and quality was good. As compared to other Chinese restaurants I’ve tried it was about average which was not bad. We ordered chicken corn soup, basked fish, walnut shrimp, vegetable egg rolls, Mongolian beef, stir fry vegetables, fried rice, orange peel chicken, house special chow mein crispy noodle, and fried tofu with white rice on the side. It was for my family of seven and they were all satisfied and it fed us all. I think the fried tofu was my favorite and the walnut shrimp. The flavors were good and the quality was descent. Overall it was a good dinner to treat my loved ones to. I’d definitely order from this place again or try in dining for a better idea of how their food is. Next time I’ll try their other menu items in person.

Delicious a la carte. Chinese food. The staff greet you with such enthusiasm. The duck was delicious and vegetables are always delicious. The dish washer needs to be cleaned. The cups seem to be dingy.

Service was simply unacceptable. Waited to be seated while there were no others waiting. After a couple of minutes, I was taken to a table that needed to be cleaned. Finally, a gentleman came for the dirty dishes as I stood. I did not want to wait at the table as I was standing over other guests so I went back to the wait stand. I waited there for another minute or two where I was not acknowledged at all. I left and will not be returning.

Update: Five stars again. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Food is cooked to order. WOW!!! This place is great. You must try it out. All the food we tried was on point. Great ambiance. Beautiful decor to add to your dining experience. They were short staffed when I went but even then our food came out pretty fast. Service was good. Server was friendly. Duck, chicken chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, pad mai it was all excellent. Will definitely return Highly recommend

Came here to try a restaurant in the Chinatown area. The food is pretty pricey for the quality and taste they serve. Lemon chicken dish was way too sweet, the sauce tasted like it was a dessert filling. The chicken itself lacked flavor. The combination chopped suey did not taste fresh which is scary because it has seafood. Another party seated next to us had to request they take back a dish as they had found something in their food. Despite all this and the waitress not being attentive, was pressed about tipping. Just paid for my food and said absolutely never coming back.
