About Hop Sing

Welcome to Hop Sing, your local Chinese restaurant situated at 20 Susie Wilson Rd, Essex Junction, VT 05452, USA. As a Chinese restaurant in the Essex Junction area, Hop Sing aims to provide a taste of authentic and familiar Chinese cuisine to the local community. Whether you're looking for a quick takeout meal after a long day or perhaps a casual dine-in experience, Hop Sing offers a range of options to satisfy your cravings for Chinese food.

You can easily reach Hop Sing by phone at (802) 878-1922 or their mobile number +1 802-878-1922 to place an order or inquire about their services. While specific details about the restaurant's ambiance and decor are not explicitly available online, Chinese restaurants often strive to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for their guests. You might expect a casual setting where you can enjoy your meal with family and friends.

Based on the limited customer reviews available, experiences at Hop Sing appear to be somewhat varied. One customer enthusiastically shared their positive experiences, highlighting the generous portion sizes and the satisfying quality of the food. They specifically mentioned a friendly staff member at the counter who made their visits enjoyable. This suggests that Hop Sing may be appreciated for its hearty servings and at least some aspects of its customer service.

However, another review presents a contrasting perspective. This customer reported a less than satisfactory phone ordering experience, characterized by abruptness and a subsequent mix-up with their order upon pickup. While they found the food to be decent, with the lo mein being particularly good, they noted that the hunan chicken was spicier than anticipated and contained large pieces of chicken. This review indicates that there might be inconsistencies in the service and potentially in the preparation of certain dishes. The customer's willingness to return was conditional, depending on the availability of their preferred Chinese restaurant, suggesting that while the food wasn't entirely disappointing, there were areas for improvement in their overall experience.

As a Chinese restaurant, Hop Sing likely offers a menu featuring a variety of popular dishes. You can probably expect to find staples such as different styles of fried rice and lo mein, a selection of chicken, beef, and pork dishes prepared with various sauces and vegetables, as well as classic appetizers like crab rangoon and spring rolls. Given the mention of hunan chicken in one of the reviews, it's reasonable to assume that they offer regional specialties that cater to different spice preferences, although the level of spiciness might vary. The "huge portions" mentioned by a satisfied customer suggest that Hop Sing focuses on providing value in terms of the quantity of food offered.

To get a comprehensive understanding of Hop Sing's offerings, including their full menu, current operating hours, and whether they provide dine-in, takeout, or delivery services, it would be best to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquiring about any current promotions or specials they might be running could also enhance your experience.

For local users in Essex Junction and the surrounding areas looking for a Chinese restaurant, Hop Sing presents itself as an option. While online feedback provides a glimpse into some customer experiences, it's important to consider that individual experiences can vary. If you are in the neighborhood and craving Chinese food, Hop Sing could be worth trying, especially if generous portions and a friendly counter service are appealing to you. However, it might be prudent to call ahead to confirm your order details and expectations, particularly regarding spice levels or any specific dietary requirements you may have.

In conclusion, Hop Sing is a Chinese restaurant located in Essex Junction, Vermont, offering a range of Chinese dishes for takeout and potentially dine-in. Customer reviews suggest that they are known for their large portions and friendly counter service, although there might be inconsistencies in phone order handling and food preparation. Called in an order for chicken lo mein, hunan chicken, crab Rangoon, and crispy spring rolls. Lady asks for my number, I start telling her and halfway through she says “twenty minutes” then hangs up. Walk in to grab our food and she asks for my number, I tell her, she says I don’t have anything for you. I tell her what we ordered, she finds the bag then tells me “you said ______”. Lady, no offense but I think I know my phone number, I’m guessing you misheard me in your rush to get off the phone. Paid, went home. Food was decent, lo mein was good, hunan chicken was okay but was spicer than expected and chicken pieces were rather large. Would I go back? Maybe, if our preferred Chinese restaurant was closed and I had a hankering for mild abuse. :)

My son and I are in the process of visiting every Chinese restaurant in Chittenden County. We always order the same thing. I order a chicken and broccoli combo with pork fried rice and an egg roll. My son orders a sesame chicken combo with pork fried rice and beef teriyaki sticks. Price: $18.04 or $.25/oz which is about average for Chittenden County. Portion: 4.7lbs between the two meals is a .3oz more generous than average. Pros: High traffic convenient location near Lowes on Susie Wilson Rd. Fifteen minute turnaround from order to pickup. Newer microwavable trays. Full size egg role Cons: Food flavor was average at best. The pork fried rice was a bit salty, dry and lacked flavor. Impression: Decent food at a convenient location earning Hop Sing's a 3 star review.

Authentic. Family run. Large portions. Been looking for a place like this. The portions are large and the meat isn’t low quality like most Chinese places. The chicken wings are amazing. And the egg rolls are huge. We also had general tso’s tofu and the hand made dumplings. Respect to all the cooks and people running the business. They are definitely trying and it shows! We fed 7 of us for $88 and have TONS of leftovers. The combo meals are a great deal! You only pickup here. Not an eat in place.

Perfect egg rolls, maybe the best in Chittenden county. It tasted like they were using fresh oil in the fryers on a Friday afternoon. Egg rolls are big and come with dipping sauce.
