About Hop Shing

Hop Shing is a Chinese restaurant located at 1009 Atlantic Blvd #3313 in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Operating within the platform category of Chinese Restaurants, Hop Shing aims to provide Chinese cuisine to the local community, primarily through takeout services based on the available reviews. However, recent online customer feedback paints a starkly negative picture of the food quality and overall dining experience offered by this establishment.

One customer detailed a particularly disappointing order of Kung Pao chicken and fried rice. They explicitly stated that the meal was "plain" and "cold," despite being ordered by phone just outside the premises, implying a very short time between preparation and consumption. The Kung Pao chicken was criticized for not even being properly cooked in the sauce, but rather merely warmed up. The chicken itself was described as if it had been boiled in water and left to sit before a minimal amount of sauce was added just before serving. This preparation method resulted in plain chicken with a superficial coating of sauce, which was unsatisfactory to the customer. The vegetables, particularly the celery, were similarly described as being briefly dipped in sauce, retaining a cold, refrigerated quality. The reviewer strongly advised against ordering this dish if one prefers properly cooked and flavorful Chinese food.

Furthermore, this customer expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the "plain fried rice." They found it unusual that plain fried rice was served without being offered a choice of vegetables, chicken, or other additions. The rice was described as yellow, stale, and lacking any flavor. The fact that it was also cold upon receipt compounded the negative experience. The reviewer lamented not having read the menu more carefully but emphasized that the cold temperature of all the food was unacceptable, considering the short distance and time involved in the takeout process. They concluded their review by stating that their $14 purchase was a complete "waste of money," strongly urging others to "try people just try," implying a need for improvement in food quality at Hop Shing.

Another customer, who identified as being from New York City, a place often associated with high standards for Chinese cuisine, described their experience at Hop Shing as the "worst Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life." This strong statement underscores a profound level of dissatisfaction. The reviewer reported that the servings contained an almost negligible amount of meat, and the "meat" that was present did not seem authentic, possessing a "horrible texture" that led them to spit most of it out. Alarmingly, they also stated that the meat was undercooked, raising serious food safety concerns. In contrast, the dumplings they ordered were described as "burnt to a crisp" and also contained the same questionable "meat." This customer expressed feeling sorry for anyone who might consider the food from Hop Shing to be good Chinese food and vehemently advised others to "please go somewhere else," indicating a complete lack of confidence in the quality and standards of this restaurant.

Based on these two recent customer reviews, Hop Shing Chinese Restaurant appears to have significant issues with the quality, preparation, and even safety of its food. The recurring themes of cold food, plain and flavorless dishes, questionable meat texture and doneness, and poorly cooked items like burnt dumplings paint a very unfavorable picture. These are not isolated incidents but consistent complaints across the two available reviews, suggesting systemic problems within the kitchen or food handling processes.

The reviews provide no information about the environment of Hop Shing. Both customers ordered takeout, so there are no comments on the ambiance, cleanliness, or decor of a dine-in area. Therefore, it is impossible to provide an objective description of the restaurant's physical environment based on this data. It can only be inferred that the establishment has a space for order preparation and pickup.

Regarding services, Hop Shing clearly offers takeout. However, the quality of this service, as reflected in the food received, is severely criticized in both reviews. There is no mention of delivery services, so it is unknown whether Hop Shing provides this option. Potential customers would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire about delivery.

There is no information available in these reviews regarding any promotional offers, discounts, or special deals that Hop Shing might be currently advertising. To learn about any such promotions, local users would need to contact the restaurant directly at (904) 247-9772 or +1 904-247-9772, or visit their location at 1009 Atlantic Blvd #3313, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233. They may have a menu available online or at the premises that could provide information on pricing, but the recent feedback suggests that the quality may not justify the cost.

In conclusion, the recent online feedback for Hop Shing Chinese Restaurant in Atlantic Beach, FL, is overwhelmingly negative, citing significant problems with food quality, preparation, temperature, and even the authenticity of ingredients. Customers have described their meals as cold, plain, poorly cooked, and containing questionable meat. These are serious concerns that should give potential local users significant pause before considering ordering from this establishment. The complete lack of positive feedback in these recent reviews, coupled with the strong negative experiences detailed, suggests that Hop Shing may not currently be a reliable choice for Chinese takeout in the area. It would be advisable for local users to consider other options based on this available information.

Kung Pao chicken and fried rice was the order. Plain. Cold and I ordered by phone outside the place. Not even cooked in sauce. Just warmed up in it. Chicken was as if it was boiled in water and then sat for phone to ring before adding to pan with some sauce. If u like plain chicken dipped in sauce, ok your place. Same with vegetable excpcially the celery, straight into the sauce for 2 seconds to get it wet. Like I was earing it out of the frig. Don't get me started on the plain fried rice. I have never heard of such a thing and wasn't asked when I ordered if I wanted plain, veg, chicken or whatever they had. Just got some yellow stale rice, no flavor. My bad should have read the menu better but it was cold also. Try people just try. I don't ever post but this was a waste of 14 bucks

I’m from nyc and this was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life. The servings had almost no meat, and the “meat” did not seem like real meat. It had a horrible texture, I had to spit most of it out. It was also undercooked. But the dumplings were burnt to a crisp, and also had some interesting “meat” in them. I feel bad for anyone who thinks this is good Chinese food. Please go somewhere else.

Used Uber Eats for my order. I got Hot and sour soup, Sesame Chicken, House Lo Mien and fried wonton. Everything was delicious. The soup needed a little extra seasoning but the chicken was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. I have never been inside the location so I don't anything about the staff, etc. I would absolutely order from here again. No greasy taste, nothing was dry. The sauces were really good.

Service was bad, lady had attitude for no reason. When I got there, wasn’t allowed to eat in. Asked if I can used the restroom, she claimed it’s out of order. I asked when it will be fixed and she just laughed. Then worst of all when I finally got to eat my food, which I got the chicken broccoli it was horrible, rice was hard and the chicken had a weird taste! What ever you do don’t eat here save your money and time. New Wok is better just that they were closed today Tuesday .
