About HongKong Garden

Welcome to HongKong Garden, a Chinese restaurant situated at 9324 WA-525 in Clinton, Washington, 98236, USA. Serving the local community and visitors, HongKong Garden offers a range of Chinese cuisine and can be contacted at (360) 341-2828 or via mobile at +1 360-341-2828 for inquiries. Based on recent online reviews, experiences at HongKong Garden appear to be mixed, with some aspects receiving praise while others have been areas of concern for patrons.

One reviewer noted several positive aspects of their visit. They specifically enjoyed their entrée of beef and broccoli, describing it as flavorful. Their mother-in-law also appreciated her dish. Additionally, they found the egg flower soup to be "interesting but fine," and the appetizer was considered tasty. This suggests that the food at HongKong Garden has the potential to be satisfying and flavorful, with certain dishes standing out as highlights.

Adding to the positive aspects, another reviewer highly recommended the "great grill fish dish," mentioning that it was a good portion size for four people. This indicates that HongKong Garden may offer some non-traditional Chinese options or perhaps a unique preparation of seafood that is well-received. Furthermore, this reviewer highlighted a significant environmental perk: a "great view out looking the water." This waterfront view could be a major draw for customers, providing a pleasant backdrop for their dining experience, especially for those looking for a scenic spot for dinner.

This same reviewer also pointed out the restaurant's convenient location for those waiting for the ferry line to go down, suggesting that HongKong Garden could be a practical and enjoyable stop for travelers in the area. The combination of good food and a pleasant view while waiting for transportation is a notable advantage.

However, alongside these positive comments, another detailed review raised several significant concerns. A major issue highlighted was the lack of cleanliness. This reviewer reported finding hairs in their entrée and their mother-in-law's cranberry juice, a dirty water glass, and a sticky table. Additionally, they noted that their appetizer was served on a plate that appeared to have dried food remnants, indicating a potential lapse in dishwashing thoroughness. These observations regarding cleanliness are serious and could deter potential customers.

Furthermore, the service experience described in this review was also problematic. The reviewer mentioned a significant delay of nearly 20 minutes between receiving their drinks and having their food order taken. Such a wait time could indicate understaffing, inefficiency, or a lack of attentiveness from the service personnel, leading to customer frustration.

There also appeared to be issues with the availability and communication regarding certain menu items. The reviewer was initially told that raspberry iced tea was unavailable, only to later see another table order it. Interestingly, that second table was subsequently also informed that it was not available, suggesting confusion or inconsistency in the information provided to customers. Additionally, the restaurant was out of teriyaki chicken, which was a disappointment for the reviewer. These instances of unavailability and miscommunication could negatively impact the dining experience and customer satisfaction.

The ambiance of HongKong Garden also received criticism in the more negative review. The reviewer noted that some of the lights were out, creating a less than ideal atmosphere. The presence of fake flowers in a vase of water was also mentioned, perhaps contributing to a sense of neglect or outdated decor. Moreover, the backyard area was described as being cluttered with broken furniture and junk, despite its potential to be a "beautiful space." This suggests that the exterior or surrounding area of the restaurant may not be well-maintained, which could detract from the overall impression.

The reviewer who detailed these negative aspects concluded that despite the promise shown by the flavor of some of the food, the overall lack of cleanliness and attention to detail would prevent them from returning. This highlights a critical point: while the quality of some dishes may be satisfactory, other factors such as hygiene, service efficiency, and ambiance play a significant role in the overall customer experience and can outweigh the positives if not adequately addressed.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for HongKong Garden based on the provided reviews. Local users interested in dining at this Chinese restaurant should consider the mixed feedback regarding food quality (with some highlights like beef and broccoli and grill fish), potential cleanliness issues, service delays, and ambiance. The waterfront view mentioned by one reviewer is a significant positive attribute that might appeal to many, especially those waiting for the ferry.

In conclusion, HongKong Garden in Clinton, WA, offers Chinese cuisine with some dishes receiving positive feedback, particularly the beef and broccoli and a noteworthy grill fish dish. A significant advantage is its waterfront view, making it a potentially scenic dining location, especially convenient for ferry travelers. However, potential customers should be aware of concerns raised in another review regarding cleanliness, service delays, menu item availability, and the overall ambiance. It might be prudent for those considering a visit to weigh these factors and perhaps prioritize dishes that have been specifically recommended. For reservations or inquiries, HongKong Garden can be contacted at (360) 341-2828.

There were definitely some highlights, but overall our experience missed the mark. Both my mother-in-law and I enjoyed our entrées. The beef and broccoli was flavorful, and she liked her dish as well. The egg flower soup was interesting but fine, and the appetizer was tasty despite being served on a plate that looked like it hadn’t been fully cleaned, as it was dirty with something dried on. Unfortunately, the lack of cleanliness really stood out. My entrée and her cranberry juice both had hairs in them, my water glass was dirty, and the table was sticky. It also took nearly 20 minutes after getting our drinks for anyone to take our food order. We were originally told raspberry iced tea wasn’t available, only to see another table ask for it. Oddly enough, that same table was later informed it wasn’t available either, so clearly some confusion there. They were also out of teriyaki chicken, which was disappointing. The ambiance didn’t help either. Some lights were out, fake flowers sat in a vase of water, and the backyard area was cluttered with broken furniture and junk, even though it could be a beautiful space. It’s unfortunate because the food itself showed promise, but the overall lack of cleanliness and attention to detail means I won’t be returning.

Things are different now. This restaurant has changed from the murky times years ago where we would order any dish and get the same mystery brown sauce with overcooked vegetables. We got takeout on a lark awhile back, and we were stunned. Ingredients were good, food cooked just right, and care put into the dishes. We have been ordering carryout on occasion ever since, and every time it's been consistently good. At this point, it's becoming our go-to carryout place on the south island. I'm really glad to get this option! Yesterday I ordered mushu vegetables and my wife ordered sweet and sour chicken, and ordered two sets of egg rolls to boot. It was all great. Ordering on the ferry to Clinton, it was ready in time for the drive home, which was great for a day where we were tired after travel. If you were put off by the Hong Kong Gardens you knew 5 years ago, you should really check out who they are now.

Me and my family came for dinner and I’m honestly confused on why some of the reviews are so bad. A new part of the restaurant is being put together at the time I’m writing this, but every thing was delicious, hot and arrived quite quickly. As for the location its absolutely stunning, it over looks the water and all of Clinton as well as being able to see Seattle lights. The part that is being built is going to be an anime cafe in and from what I’ve been shown, I see a lot of potential for the addition. In the bar area there’s a pool table and a little stage for open mic nights and karaoke. The atmosphere and feel of the restaurant is very fun and lighthearted without feeling to chaotic or unprofessional

This place is absolutely amazing, sooooooo authentic and adds wonderful flavors to even the American-Chinese dishes. I tried their Pork Intestine Dry Pot and I seriously have dreams about it at night. Support them!!!
