About Honga

Welcome to Honga, a Chinese Restaurant located at 6 Boston St A, Salem, MA 01970, USA. As a Chinese Restaurant that has been serving the Salem community for over two decades, Honga has established itself as a long-standing presence in the local culinary scene. With a phone number of (978) 744-2510 and a mobile contact at +1 978-744-2510, we have been a go-to option for many seeking Chinese cuisine in the area.

Information regarding the specific environment or ambiance of Honga is limited based on the available reviews. One review focuses on the perceived decline in food quality over time rather than the physical space of the restaurant. Another review, while expressing a long-term affinity for Honga, does not provide details about the establishment's decor or atmosphere. Therefore, we cannot offer a description of the environment based on the provided customer feedback.

The primary service offered by Honga, based on the reviews, appears to be takeout. One long-time customer mentions "ordering for a long time," implying that takeout is a regular mode of engagement with the restaurant. There is no mention of dine-in service or delivery options in the provided feedback. Customers likely place orders via phone at the numbers provided and then pick up their meals at the 6 Boston St A location.

Features of Honga, gleaned from the customer experiences, present a mixed perspective. A significant point raised by a customer who has been "doing business for over 25 years" is a concern about the "quality and the inconsistency" of the food, which they feel has "failed immensely" over time. This suggests that while Honga has a long history in the community, a long-term patron has observed a decline in the standards of their offerings. This customer even suggests that it would be preferable for the restaurant to increase prices rather than compromise on food quality.

On the other hand, another customer expresses their love for Honga and mentions "ordering for a long time," indicating a positive, sustained relationship with the restaurant. This suggests that there might be varying experiences or perhaps that certain dishes have maintained their quality. However, this same reviewer also raises a serious concern regarding the accuracy of information provided about gluten-free options. When someone in their group required gluten-free food, they were allegedly told that "it’s all gluten free," a statement that the reviewer finds highly improbable given the nature of many traditional Chinese dishes that contain gluten. The reviewer emphasizes the importance of knowing ingredients, especially for individuals with dietary restrictions like gluten intolerance.

The discrepancy in these two reviews highlights a potential issue with consistency and accurate information regarding dietary restrictions. While one customer has been a loyal patron for a long time, their recent experience with the gluten-free information raises a red flag for those with specific dietary needs. The other long-term customer's disappointment with the declining quality further suggests that the experience at Honga might be variable.

Currently, there is no information available regarding any promotional offers or special deals at Honga. The reviews focus solely on the quality of the food and the accuracy of dietary information. Therefore, we cannot provide any details about discounts, special menus, or limited-time offers based on the provided text. To inquire about any current promotions, it would be best to contact Honga directly at (978) 744-2510.

In conclusion, Honga is a Chinese Restaurant in Salem, MA, with a history of over 25 years serving the local community. While one long-time customer expresses significant disappointment with the recent quality and consistency of the food, another indicates a sustained positive experience. However, a serious concern has been raised regarding the accuracy of gluten-free information provided by the restaurant. Potential customers, especially those with dietary restrictions, should exercise caution and directly inquire about ingredients and preparation methods. Given the conflicting feedback, it may be prudent to consider these points when deciding whether to order from Honga. For the most current information on the menu, quality, and any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

Been doing business for over 25 years. I keep hoping it’s gonna get better. The quality and the inconsistency has failed immensely. So disappointed that I had to write this review. It’s better to go up on your prices then go down on the quality of your food. Haven’t been happy for quite a while.

Love Honga been ordering for a long time! Someone from group needed gluten free - when I asked if there were any gluten free options they said it’s all gluten free! How can that possibly be? Know your ingredients! Some people can’t tolerate any gluten!

Even though we were the only customers in the restaurant, service was slow. Food tasted good but was slightly overpriced.

Pretty good food served fresh. The specialty dishes and rice are the best. Chicken fingers and fried jumbo shrimp have too much dough so if you want fried shrimp, I’d go for the popcorn shrimp. Tasty and plentiful! Overall, the best food in the area. They’ve been consistently good for years. Love it.

I love Honga! I lived in Salem for 2 years and this was my go-to spot for Chinese food. The Szechuan lo mein was my fave, perfect amount of spice. I moved out of state but I still return whenever I am in town.
