Hong Kong Ruby, located at 2308 Patton Rd in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (PA 17112, USA), serves the local community as a Chinese restaurant offering a variety of dishes within the Asian culinary tradition. As a Chinese restaurant, Hong Kong Ruby likely provides a menu featuring popular items such as fried rice, noodles, various meat and vegetable preparations, and appetizers. They can be contacted by phone at (717) 541-1378, with a mobile contact option available at +1 717-541-1378 for placing orders and inquiries.

Operating under the platform category of "Chinese Restaurant," Hong Kong Ruby offers services typical of such establishments. Based on customer reviews, it appears that they primarily focus on takeout orders, as one review explicitly states that they do not offer delivery. For takeout, customers can place orders and then pick them up at the restaurant. While not directly mentioned, it is also reasonable to assume that Hong Kong Ruby offers dine-in services, allowing customers to enjoy their meals on the premises. The contrasting experiences in the provided reviews highlight the importance of clear communication and efficient order handling, particularly for takeout customers.

Information regarding the environment of Hong Kong Ruby is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. However, the positive feedback from a first-time visitor who mentioned dining with a friend suggests that the restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere conducive to enjoying a meal on-site. Typically, a Chinese restaurant like Hong Kong Ruby would feature a casual and comfortable dining area with tables and chairs to accommodate individuals and groups. The ambiance might include traditional Chinese decorative elements to enhance the dining experience. However, without more specific descriptions, it is challenging to provide a detailed account of the restaurant's environment.

The features of Hong Kong Ruby, as highlighted by customer experiences, include the quality and taste of specific dishes. One first-time visitor highly recommended their specialty, Hong Kong Beef, describing it as "one of the best I ever had," praising its perfect orange flavor and the tenderness of the beef. This suggests that Hong Kong Ruby has signature dishes that are particularly well-received. The same reviewer also commended their egg roll as "amazing," indicating that their appetizers are also noteworthy. Additionally, the portions are described as "generous," suggesting that customers feel they receive good value for the amount of food ordered.

However, one review details a significant issue with the takeout service. A customer placed a pickup order for appetizers, which they were told would be ready in 45 minutes. Upon arriving at the restaurant at the specified time, they were informed that their order had been canceled because the staff "thought I wasn’t coming." The reviewer, originally from New York, expressed disappointment with this lack of communication, noting that a follow-up call is customary in similar situations. They also mentioned that there were at least four staff members at the front who could have checked in or made a quick call to the customer. This experience highlights a potential area for improvement in their customer service and order management, particularly for takeout orders.

Currently, the provided text does not contain any specific promotional information for Hong Kong Ruby. Chinese restaurants often offer various promotions to attract customers, such as special combination meals, lunch specials, or discounts on certain days or for specific order amounts. To learn about any current promotions at Hong Kong Ruby, local users are advised to contact the restaurant directly by phone or inquire when visiting to place an order. They may also have special offers advertised in-store or on any online platforms they might use.

In conclusion, Hong Kong Ruby in Harrisburg, PA, appears to offer some highly regarded dishes, particularly their specialty Hong Kong Beef and their egg rolls, with generous portion sizes. The positive experience of a first-time diner suggests a welcoming environment for those eating at the restaurant. However, a concerning negative experience with a canceled takeout order due to a lack of communication indicates a potential inconsistency in their service handling for pickup customers. Local users considering Hong Kong Ruby should be aware of both the positive feedback on the food quality and the reported issue with takeout service communication. It might be beneficial to confirm order details and pickup times clearly when placing a takeout order. For those interested in dining in, the positive first-time experience suggests a worthwhile visit to try their specialty dishes.

I placed a pickup order at Hong Kong Ruby because they don’t offer delivery. They told me it would be ready in 45 minutes. Mind you, just for appetizers. But I agreed and showed up, only to find out they had canceled my order because they “thought I wasn’t coming.” I’m not sure how they do it here in Harrisburg, but I’m from New York and if too much time passes, the restaurant usually gives a follow-up call. I understand they might’ve been busy, but there were at least four people up front—someone could’ve checked in or made a quick call. This review is strictly based on service, not the food. Just disappointing communication.

It was our first time here and we will go back. My friend ordered a complete dinner, delicious and generous! I ordered their specialty, Hong Kong Beef and it was one of the best I ever had. Orange flavor just right and beef very tender. Their egg roll was amazing too.

We are visiting, and I ordered steamed dumplings and sautéed broccoli from here for lunch yesterday. (The portions were very generous, so this turned out to be multiple meals’ worth.) The dumplings were so juicy and incredibly flavorful. Just the perfect ratio of wrapper to filling. And the broccoli made a delicious accompaniment.

Heard about this place for a few years but it's a little far from where I live. A friend insisted I try them so I did, and they're definitely my new favorite place. They're still a little far from me in Swatara but definitely worth the 20 minute drive. I base Chinese places on their General Tso's/sesame chicken, and this place nails it... it's perfectly crispy and not dry or rubbery/tough like most other places and their portion sizes are awesome. I got the General Tso's Chicken Complete Dinner which came with pork fried rice, an egg roll, a crab rangoon and enough chicken for at least another meal. My friend got the beef lo mein and said it was his new favorite spot for it too. Only bummer is, they have a nice decent dining area, but I guess after the pandemic they only do basic dine-in where you order at the counter and take your stuff to a table if you want to dine in. Not a big deal but wish I tried this place before they changed their dine-in. Still definitely recommend trying Hong Kong Ruby though because the quality is some of the best in the area for sure.

We rarely order here. I've never liked this place. This is very last resort for us and we have probably ordered from here maybe 3 times in 8 years. My husband ordered wonton soup 2 weeks ago for my son and it tasted so bland. I'm also not a fan of their entrees. Only the fried rice tastes good. I typically don't like American style Chinese food. I don't give one star because at least they have better service than Freshido down the road. People are better off eating this Chinese food for cheaper rather than the overpriced Freshido Chinese entrees. I spent $100 over at Freshido & got horrible service. They have good sushi but their Chinese food is not good.
