Hong Kong Restaurant

We love this restaurant. Our family has been coming here for many years. Although we have moved out of the area, they always remember us. If you are looking for fresh home cooked Chinese food, give them a try. Their egg rolls are the best we have ever had.

The food was not as good as it used to be. The chicken fried rice was more like boiled rice with chicken. The egg rolls, which are not pictured, were too oily and the sweet and the sour chicken and the pineapple chicken didn't have the rice included and the sweet and sour chicken pieces were smaller than at most other places. This used to be my favorite spot but not anymore.

Hong Kong Restaurant Chinese Lakewood, Dallas Mar 5, 2025 This is a solid place although a little tired and threadbare on the inside. I ordered the Hunan Shrimp. It was spicy and came with a lot of different vegetables. The proprietor was friendly, smiling and helpful.

I give it two stars because as much as I hate to admit it, I will still probably return for the $5 lunches but I will have low expectations. Chairs were torn, carpet was dirty, the place desperately needs a facelift. All of the food was mediocre except the eggroll which had no flavor. I tried the Hunan beef and sauce was thick like gravy and the beef was really chewy. I could tell the veggies were fresh but that didn't help anything. The rice was mushy and the soup wasn't great either. When I just need to fill a stomach void, I might be back for a cheap lunch but I'd never bring someone with me. Maybe there is a better plate, I'll let you know the next time I go. Staff was alright, I got offered a refill on water at the end of my meal. The free soft serve ice cream was terrible and had little flavor.

Hong Kong Restaurant has been a family tradition eating place for over 30 years. It is authentic and the service is good and friendly. Highly recommend it. So good!
