Hong Kong Restaurant

The Hong Cong Restaurant is in the corner of 12th Ave and 1st in Nampa Idaho. It has a beautiful, and peaceful atmosphere. The staff is alert and very kind. We ordered The Rickshaw A menu item for 2. It included house salad, pork and seeds, 6 crab Ragoon, chow mein , pork fried rice, pineapple sweet and sour pork, and fortune cookies and mints.

The food is pretty consistent over the past 10+ years. But the prices have become outrageous!! $90 for 3 people not including drinks! And this is chicken, salad, potstickers, etc. very cheap foods and not extravagant at all.

If I could give them less than 1 stars I would. I called questioning our price on the delivery on Saturday night and they had charges on there that didn’t make sense. The manager on duty stated those were their prices and couldn’t explain all the charges. We ordered pork and seeds and they were just thrown in the box and a complete mess. We then asked for a partial refund or really just any type of customer service, the manager on duty then stated she would give a refund if we gave the food back, given that already ate some of it. So we agreed. After she sent the driver back 15 minutes later, to pick up the food (very unprofessional), she then offered us a $30 partial refund because food was missing. I continued to tell her that we already started eating part of it and I sent back everything else that wasn’t opened. By the end of the conversation, there is apparently no other manager that could be reached out to or talk to and no resolution to the situation. Be better and take care of your customers. There’s a reason why this business has declined in the past 5 years. My advice is to stay away from this place unless you want to argue with management about customer service. Pathetic.

My family has been coming to the Hong Kong Café since late 70s early 80s since that time I think the son has taken over and it’s been remodeled and I feel like it’s still consistent for the meals. I love the lunch combos where you can pick from several different items in a couple different categories I always get the pork fried rice and the Hong Kong salad and moo goo gai pan love it always have leftovers and I like the egg drop soup and my husband always gets the hot and sour a cup comes with your meal. The place is still freshly remodeled even though I think it’s probably been five or 10 years it looks fantastic. They’ve always had a fish tank that when my kids were little, they just love to go watch the fish. My server the last two times we went actually was very nice and attentive and we went late both times so I’m sure they wanted to kind of wrap things up for the night so I would say he was super nice! This place is a Nampa staple. You gotta try it out.

Visited tonight with our large family, our entire group was charged a mandatory gratuity of 20% even though we all split our orders individually and the service was subpar. I would recommend that you DO NOT spend your hard earned dollar(s) at this establishment. It’s my opinion that it is NOT worth it!
