Based on customer reviews, the ambiance of Hong Kong Palace Restaurant appears to be a notable aspect. While one review gives it a rating of 3.5/5, indicating it's slightly above average, another highlights the availability of "private rooms" which were described as "pretty nice in comparison to the main hall." This suggests that the restaurant offers different dining environments, with private rooms providing a more secluded and potentially more upscale setting for groups or special occasions. The overall ambiance seems to be comfortable and accommodating.

The service at Hong Kong Palace Restaurant is rated as "standard" with a score of 3/5 in one review. This implies that customers can expect a typical level of service, likely efficient and adequate for a standard dining experience. Another reviewer mentioned that "they gave us a private room to sing karaoke in after," indicating a level of accommodation and perhaps special service for certain groups or events. This suggests that the service can be more tailored and engaging beyond just food delivery to the table, especially when private rooms are involved.

The food at Hong Kong Palace Restaurant is described as "standard fare with typical Chinese dishes," receiving a rating of 3/5. One reviewer mentioned having "quite the selection of food," implying a reasonably extensive menu featuring familiar Chinese culinary options. However, while the food is considered standard, one customer specifically praised the "roast pork" as "great" and the "Peking duck" as "crisp and juicy." These positive mentions of specific dishes suggest that while the overall fare might be typical, there are certain items that stand out for their quality and taste.

A significant feature of Hong Kong Palace Restaurant, as highlighted in the reviews, is the availability of private rooms. These rooms not only offer a more intimate dining setting but also, in at least one instance, were equipped for karaoke. This unique combination of dining and entertainment makes Hong Kong Palace Restaurant a potentially attractive venue for group gatherings, celebrations, or those looking for an interactive dining experience beyond just eating.

Another feature noted in a concise summary is that the restaurant offers "good food for good value." This suggests that while the cuisine might be standard, the pricing is reasonable, making it an affordable option for enjoying a Chinese meal. This value proposition can be a significant draw for local customers looking for a satisfying dining experience without breaking the bank.

TLDR: good food for good value, plus private rooms! We had some pretty great food here and they gave us a private room to sing karaoke in after. The roast pork was great and the Peking duck was crisp and juicy as well.

Hong Kong Palace was 1/2 empty at 11:30am on a Tuesday. It quickly filled up. There aren't dim sum carts roaming the floor. The ordering system is marking the menu and submitting it to a staff member. There were only two people working on 25+ tables which is grossly understaffed. Customers had to refill their own tea pots, which is very odd for a dim sum restaurant. I was like, why are people walking into the kitchen with their tea pots? The waiter mis-marked our ordering sheet and some of the dim sum we ordered never came out. The first item came out after 30 minutes of waiting. The last item arrived over an hour after we ordered. So, if you have only an hour for lunch on a weekday, I can't recommend Hong Kong Palace. Most of the food tasted below average. The exception was the tofu skin rolls. My friend sudden got up and went to the washroom to throw up. He later came back and said it was rancid. The noise level was OK for a conversation over tea. The only redeeming factor of Hong Kong Palace is the menu. Some of the dim sum sounded interesting. The food is below average. The kitchen is slow and the service is abysmal. There are much better lunch places in Millbrae/Burlingame.

With three stories, it is one of the sizable dim sum places in the bay area. The menu has lots of variety. Many customers order BBQ dishes. The price is competitive. The dim sum meets expectation, a bit on the salty side. The place is understaffed considering the size, resulting in inattentive service and very busy staff. That is a pity. The upkeep of the place is fair. That is another pity given the opportunities of the location and the real estate spaces. We like the menu overall. You can try and decide for yourselves.

We got one of the private rooms upstairs. Parking is limited. 3 handicap and another 3-4 general parking. Some spots on the street. Make sure you are traveling north on El Camino. No u-turns around here. Food is good. We made a reservation. Suckling pig is discounted atm. Pictures below are what we had for dinner.
