About Hong Kong

Welcome to the local information page for Hong Kong Restaurant, situated at 5563 Western Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27606, USA. As a Chinese restaurant operating within the "Chinese Restaurant" platform category, Hong Kong Restaurant serves the Raleigh community, primarily as a takeout establishment offering a variety of dishes inspired by Chinese culinary traditions. For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact them at (919) 851-1795 or via their mobile number +1 919-851-1795.

Hong Kong Restaurant functions as a Chinese restaurant, which generally includes establishments that specialize in preparing and serving food originating from China. These restaurants often cater to local tastes with a menu featuring familiar American Chinese dishes alongside potentially more traditional options. Given the reviews, Hong Kong Restaurant appears to focus primarily on takeout service.

To provide a comprehensive introduction to Hong Kong Restaurant, it's crucial to consider the recent feedback shared by its customers through online reviews. These reviews offer insights into various aspects of the restaurant, including food quality, service, and overall customer experience, particularly concerning takeout orders.

One customer shared a significantly negative experience related to the service they received. While acknowledging that the food had been "pretty good" on previous occasions, this particular interaction left them feeling "disgusted" and "triggered." The issue arose when they requested additional duck sauce for their order, which included shrimp fried rice and chicken wings. Initially provided with only two packets, they politely asked for about five more. The staff member reportedly gave them only one extra and allegedly threw it in the bag in an impolite manner. Furthermore, the customer was charged an extra 25 cents for a pack of four duck sauces, having initially received only two. Adding to the negative experience, the staff attempted to add an extra $1.10 to the receipt for the customer to sign, which the customer crossed out, paying only the dollar requested for the additional sauce. This customer concluded their review by strongly recommending that others spend their money at establishments that appreciate their patronage, giving Hong Kong Restaurant a one-star rating due to this poor service experience.

In contrast, another customer provided a positive review, describing the food as "great" and the staff as "great" as well. They characterized Hong Kong Restaurant as a "hidden little dive Chinese take out" that offers good flavor and portions. This reviewer also noted a potential issue with the restaurant's visibility on Yelp, suggesting that their listing might need to be updated to appear under the search term "Chinese food." This positive feedback focuses on the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff, offering a different perspective from the first review.

Considering these two reviews, we see a dichotomy in customer experiences at Hong Kong Restaurant. One customer praises the food and staff, while the other reports a severely negative service interaction despite finding the food generally good on previous visits. This suggests that while the food quality might be a strength for some, the customer service, at least in this particular instance, was a significant detractor.

Based on the review mentioning it as a "take out," the environment of Hong Kong Restaurant likely prioritizes functionality for order pickup rather than a comfortable dine-in setting. The term "hidden little dive" suggests a small, perhaps unassuming location that might be more focused on the quality of the food produced for takeout rather than elaborate decor or ambiance. Customers should likely expect a no-frills environment primarily designed for efficient order processing.

The services offered by Hong Kong Restaurant primarily seem to be focused on takeout. Customers can likely place orders over the phone or possibly in person at the counter. The positive review mentions "great staff," suggesting that the interaction during the ordering and pickup process can be pleasant. The negative review, however, highlights a significant issue with the service related to a specific request and the handling of payment. It is not explicitly mentioned whether Hong Kong Restaurant offers delivery services, so local users would need to inquire directly about this option.

Features of Hong Kong Restaurant appear to include good food with good flavor and portions, according to one reviewer. The menu likely consists of standard American Chinese takeout fare, as indicated by the mention of shrimp fried rice and chicken wings, for which the customer desired duck sauce. The issue with the duck sauce suggests that it is a standard condiment provided with certain orders, but perhaps in limited quantities. The fact that a customer returns multiple times implies that the food quality is generally satisfactory for them, despite the negative service experience on one occasion.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given reviews. Small, local takeout restaurants like Hong Kong Restaurant might not engage in extensive promotional campaigns. They might rely more on word-of-mouth and repeat customers. It is possible they offer combination meals or lunch specials, but this would need to be confirmed by contacting the restaurant directly or checking for any local listings or menus available online.

For local users in Raleigh, NC, considering Hong Kong Restaurant, the available reviews present a mixed picture. The positive feedback on food quality and portions is encouraging, as is the mention of friendly staff by one reviewer. However, the severely negative experience with the service, particularly regarding a seemingly simple request for extra condiments and the handling of payment, is a significant concern that potential customers should be aware of.

If you are primarily looking for a takeout option with reportedly good food and portions, Hong Kong Restaurant might be worth considering. However, it would be prudent to be mindful of the potential for issues with customer service, especially if you have specific requests or need additional items with your order. The discrepancy in experiences suggests that service quality might be inconsistent.

Given the "hidden little dive" description, customers should likely not expect a sophisticated dining environment. The focus seems to be on the food prepared for takeout. If you value friendly and accommodating service alongside good food, you might want to consider this aspect based on the provided feedback.

To make a more informed decision, local residents might want to look for additional reviews on other platforms to see if a more consistent picture of the food and service at Hong Kong Restaurant emerges. If you decide to order from them, it might be wise to be clear and polite with any specific requests and to double-check your order and receipt before leaving.

In conclusion, Hong Kong Restaurant in Raleigh, NC, is primarily a takeout Chinese restaurant that has received positive feedback regarding its food quality and portions, as well as friendly staff in one instance. However, a significant negative service experience involving a request for extra condiments and payment handling was also reported. Local users seeking Chinese takeout in Raleigh should consider these contrasting experiences when deciding whether to patronize Hong Kong Restaurant.

If I could leave no stars I would I’ve ordered from here a few time since living on this side of town and the food is pretty good but the service was disgusting it really triggered me as a black women ordering Chinese food to say the least there was only two duck sauces on the counter I actually like the duck sauce on there dry fake three piece shrimp fried rice as well as my Chicken wings. so I politely asked for more she only gave me one extra and threw it in my bag as if I was about to get on her nerves I asked for about five extra she told me a dollar she charged me after already paying and extra 25 cent for a pack of duck sauce because she only gave me four then Tried to right on the receipt for me to sign and extra 1.10 cents I had to cross it out for just the dollar… and that’s why I’m leaving this review to say go spend your money with people that appreciate the fact that you actually come a few times a week spending more money then they want to charge you when they feel like it for a petty duck sauce so they get this petty one star!!!

Great food, great staff. Hidden little dive Chinese take out with good flavor and portions. They need to fix their Yelp listing because they don't show up under "Chinese food".

The shrimp fried rice with onions was disappointing. Only a few onions and no flavor to the rice even with the condiments. I won’t order there in the future. I was really disappointed. 😢

I don't know dog, the orange chicken I got was absolutely foul. Dropped $17 on a large and threw it out after eating 1/4 of it. It didn't seem to be completely cooked through at all, you tell me. Had this nasty taste of fried fat or oil every bite, not sure if it was how it was fried or what exactly the taste was, but it was baaad. I really wanted to like this place too!
