About Hong Kong

Welcome to Hong Kong, a Chinese restaurant located at 1008 Portsmouth Blvd #F in Suffolk, Virginia (VA 23434), USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Suffolk community, Hong Kong aims to provide a selection of Chinese culinary dishes for local residents and those working in the area. You can contact them at (757) 934-8008 or their mobile number +1 757-934-8008 for inquiries or to place an order.

Based on the limited customer feedback available, the environment of Hong Kong appears to be an area of concern for at least one patron. A reviewer who visited the restaurant for lunch noted that "the place itself is kind of messy and could use a little organizing." This suggests that the cleanliness and overall tidiness of the dining area might not meet the expectations of all customers. The ambiance and cleanliness of a restaurant can significantly impact the dining experience, and this feedback indicates a potential issue that local users might want to consider when deciding whether to dine in at Hong Kong. While the review does not provide extensive details, the mention of messiness and the need for organization suggests that the environment might not be the restaurant's strongest point.

In terms of services, Hong Kong likely offers both dine-in and takeout options, which are standard for most Chinese restaurants. One review mentions a customer walking in to place a takeout order, indicating that this service is available. Another review details a lunch visit, implying that dine-in service is also provided. To confirm the availability of these services, as well as to inquire about potential delivery options, it would be best to contact Hong Kong directly. Many Chinese restaurants cater to both preferences to accommodate a wider range of customer needs and convenience.

The limited customer feedback provides some insights into the food quality and preparation at Hong Kong, and these insights are largely negative. One particularly concerning review describes a significant hygiene issue. The customer recounts observing a cook scratching their head and then using their bare hands to grab rib tips that the customer had ordered. This observation led the customer to feel so disgusted that they requested a refund and left without eating. This is a serious allegation that raises significant concerns about food handling practices and hygiene standards at Hong Kong. Such practices, if accurate, could pose health risks and would understandably deter customers.

The second review, detailing a lunch experience, offers a more nuanced but still critical perspective on the food. The customer ordered the pepper steak with onions lunch special. While they found the pepper steak to be "decent," they noted that the fried rice seemed "a little undercooked," and the egg roll was "not great." This suggests that the quality of different dishes at Hong Kong might vary, and that some items might not be prepared to an optimal standard. The reviewer concluded that the food was "not the best Chinese food I've ever had" and specifically mentioned that there are two other Chinese restaurants near downtown Suffolk that are considered better. This comparison indicates that local users might have superior alternatives available in the same area.

Considering these two reviews together paints a concerning picture of Hong Kong. The first review highlights a potential lack of hygiene in food preparation, which is a critical issue for any food establishment. The second review points to subpar food quality, with specific issues regarding undercooked rice and a mediocre egg roll, even though the pepper steak was deemed decent. These negative experiences suggest that the overall quality and consistency of the food at Hong Kong might be unreliable.

For local users in Suffolk looking for a Chinese restaurant, the available feedback on Hong Kong warrants caution. The serious hygiene concern raised in one review should be a significant consideration. The second review, while less severe, indicates that the food quality might not be up to par compared to other options in the vicinity. Potential customers might want to weigh these negative aspects heavily when making their decision.

Given the nature of the negative feedback, particularly the hygiene issue, it might be prudent for local users to consider other Chinese restaurants in Suffolk before choosing to dine at or order from Hong Kong. If one were to consider trying Hong Kong despite these reviews, it would be advisable to pay close attention to the cleanliness of the establishment and the handling of food, if dining in or picking up an order. When ordering takeout, checking the food for proper preparation and quality would also be important.

The provided information does not include any details about specific features of Hong Kong, such as signature dishes, unique culinary styles, or special ingredients they might use. To learn more about their menu and what might set them apart (if anything), it would be necessary to consult their menu directly or ask when contacting the restaurant. Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional offers or discounts. Many local restaurants offer specials, especially during lunch hours or on certain days of the week, to attract customers. Inquiring about any current promotions when calling or visiting Hong Kong could potentially provide added value, though given the other concerns, this might be a secondary consideration for most potential customers.

In conclusion, the limited customer feedback for Hong Kong, a Chinese restaurant in Suffolk, VA, raises significant concerns regarding hygiene and food quality. One review described a disturbing instance of unhygienic food handling, while another noted a messy environment and subpar food, recommending other local Chinese restaurants as better alternatives. Local users should carefully consider these negative experiences when deciding whether to patronize Hong Kong. Gathering more information directly from the restaurant about their practices and menu might be helpful, but the existing feedback suggests that caution is warranted.

I will never eat here again. Normally I call my order in. Today I walked in placed the order of rib tips and fried rice. The cook proceeded to scratch his head and then grab the rib tips with his bare nasty hands. I was so disgusted I asked for my money back and left.

Wanted some Chinese for lunch and this place is close to work so I checked it out. The place itself is kind of messy and could use a little organizing. My food came out quickly. I had the pepper steak with onions lunch special. The pepper steak was decent but the fried rice seemed a little undercooked. The egg roll wasn't great. It's not the best Chinese food I've ever had but definitely not the worst. There are two other places near downtown Suffolk that are better.

No longer will be returning to this filthy Chinese restaurant! The older man taking orders is rude and gave me a hard time about changing my order within 3 minutes of calling back! I’ve never had any problems until today. From him acting like I couldn’t change the type of rice that came with shrimp egg foo young and mentioning it will be an up charge to just the very rude tone. This was not a pleasant experience and I hope you’ll learn to have better customer service! Always remember your customers are the ones keeping your business running! :-)

I took my time to reflect and really think about whether to submit a review or not...but I have to. Please.. just someone make the effort to help this place get better. This is no longer the "Best in Suffolk". I made the mistake of going there in person, and I thought that perhaps the fact it looks filthy, disorganized, rundown... is only the external appearances ... and should not judge... my mistake...my very grave mistake. Piece of metal in my food. Chicken not cooked all the way. The noodles did not smell fresh... We do not deserve this! We must demand better food establishments.
