About Hong Kong

Hong Kong Restaurant is located at 6828 N Waverly St, Dearborn Heights, MI 48127, USA. They can be contacted at (313) 274-3005 or +1 313-274-3005. Another location is mentioned on Telegraph Road in Dearborn Heights, situated behind Red Lobster in a large building.

Customer reviews present a mixed picture of the dining experience at Hong Kong Restaurant. One customer who ordered from the Telegraph location was very pleased, noting that the food arrived home hot and neatly packaged with no spills. They emphasized the huge portion sizes, stating that one order could easily feed two to three people. This reviewer enjoyed the combination plate of pepper steak (substituting rice for lo mein) and crab rangoon, which came with a large veggie spring roll and a dinner roll. They found the taste to be delicious and were happy with their decision to order from here.

In contrast, a review from a local resident who visited the newly opened Waverly Street location for the $9 lunch special had a more varied experience. While they received a substantial amount of food, they felt the quality could be better. They described the egg roll as the worst they had ever encountered, citing its sogginess, mushy texture, and lack of flavor. On a positive note, they found the fried rice to be delicious but wished for a larger portion relative to the generous serving of sesame chicken. However, they were quite disappointed with the sesame chicken, describing it as tough and noting that the sauce was not typical. They stated they would not order it again, even calling it "disgusting."

Despite the food reservations, the reviewer at the Waverly location was genuinely pleased with the customer service, describing the young woman working there as respectful, kind, and welcoming. This positive interaction gave them hope to revisit and try other menu items like the chicken and broccoli.

Overall, Hong Kong Restaurant appears to be known for its very large portion sizes and low prices, particularly the lunch specials. The experience seems to vary depending on the dish. While the fried rice and pepper steak with lo mein received positive feedback, the egg roll and sesame chicken were criticized by one reviewer for quality and taste. The customer service, at least at the Waverly location, was noted to be positive. If you are looking for a restaurant offering substantial quantities of food at an affordable price in Dearborn Heights, Hong Kong might be worth considering, especially if you are interested in their fried rice or other dishes that have received positive mentions. However, it may be wise to be cautious with items that have garnered negative feedback.

We ordered from the telegraph location in Dearborn heights! It's a big building right behind red lobster. You can't miss it! The food made it home hot and neatly. No spills in the bag thankfully. The portions are huge... literally one order can feed 2 to 3 people easily. I ordered the combination plate of pepper steak and substituted the rice for the lo mein. And I did of crab Rangoon. It came with a huge veggie spring roll and a nice warm big piece of a dinner roll. I'm so happy I decided to order from here. And as for the taste.... it was delicious 😋

Review of Hong Kong Restaurant As a resident just a two-minute stroll away, I was excited to check out the newly opened Hong Kong Restaurant, especially with their appealing lunch special priced at just nine dollars. I had high hopes for a delicious meal, envisioning a delightful experience filled with authentic flavors. However, my visit turned out to have its share of highs and lows, leading to a rather varied impression. To start, I received over 2 pounds of food, which includes the egg roll—a decent portion size for a lunch special. However, I'd prefer to pay slightly more for better-quality meals. Beginning with the egg roll, I found it quite disappointing—unquestionably the worst I've encountered. Unfortunately, it was soggy and mushy, having been left to sit in its box without any separate packaging. The texture was unappealing, and the filling lacked any discernible flavor, making for a rather bland experience. On a brighter note, the fried rice exceeded my expectations; it was delicious and enjoyable. However, I wished there had been more of it, as my portion felt limited in comparison to the generous serving of sesame chicken due to the portion where the rice was set, the container is a three compartment container therefore, it looks like there’s a decent amount of rice, but there really is not. Speaking of the sesame chicken, while it was decent, it certainly didn’t impress. The chicken was particularly tough and difficult to chew, and the sauce deviated from the classic flavors I typically associate with sesame chicken. Overall, I wouldn't consider ordering it again The sesame chicken was quite frankly disgusting. I eat, maybe five pieces of it and just because of how tough the meat was it just wasn’t worth eating more of it. Despite my reservations about the food, I was genuinely pleased with the customer service. The young woman working there was respectful, kind, and welcoming, which made my visit much more pleasant. Her positive demeanor gives me hope to revisit and explore other menu items, such as the chicken and broccoli, which I’m curious to try. In summary, if you are in search of excellent fried rice, this may be the spot for you. Yet, I remain uncertain about returning for the egg rolls or sesame chicken. Here’s to hoping for a better experience on my next visit!

Hard to find a good chinese restaurant. They gave lots of food. But the rice was bland. And the beef brocolli mushroom was very salt. I guess no more chinese for me. Need to get a recipe and do it myself. Food was horrible!!!
